Did You Know? Monthly friendly advice for our Reunion neighbors about covenants issues & guidelines
MAILBOXES Late springtime is the perfect time to refresh your mailbox paint and replace any missing numbers. Pollen is gone, and weather is warm. • Mailbox and Post: Must be painted with a Black Satin Finish • Flag: Must be painted in high visible Emergency Red Gloss exterior paint • Reunion Logo/Medallion: Must be painted in a Metallic Antique Gold with a paint marker such as Testers Enamel Markers or American Accents Leafing Pen • Mailbox Numbers: If your numbers need replacing, they should be 2” gold numbers on both sides of the mailbox. Contact information to order the Reunion approved numbers can be found on the Reunion website, www.ReunionHOA.org THOSE IN VIOLATION WITH MAILBOXES IN NEED OF REPAIR CAN/WILL BE FINED. More details on mailboxes can be found on the Reunion HOA website, ReunionHOA.org under the Documents tab with contact information for ordering mailbox numbers or companies you can hire to repair/refresh your mailbox. Individuals to hire can be found on the Neighbor-to-Neighbor page of the Patriot. REUNION 2020 NEIGHBORS OF THE YEAR Congratulations to Joanne and Mike on being voted Reunion’s Neighbors of the Year in 2020. The Giels have been Reunion residents since 2006 and in that 15 years have contributed to our community in many ways. Joanne and Mike have served on Reunion’s Advisory Committee and Joanne was Chairperson for one (1) year. They are also active members of Reunion’s Empty Nesters Group. Mike has been a member of the Tennis Committee for many years, including time as the Committee Chairperson. Joanne has been a member of the Social and Meeting House Committees for several years. She has organized a Baby Sitting Course with CPR and First Aid, and organizes “Meal Trains” for residents in need. During the Covid-19 pandemic this past year she made face masks for Health Care workers and other individuals. Joanne also does craft and sewing projects for many of her Reunion neighbors. But Joanne is probably best known as “Reunion’s Easter Bunny” because she’s been in costume to greet the children at our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for many years.
Joanne and Mike are always ready to lend a helping hand when needed and we are fortunate to have them in Reunion! 4

Pickleball is the newest Reunion Amenity as tennis court #5 has been repainted with lines for one tennis court and two pickleball courts. The pickleball courts are reserved every Tuesday & Thursday morning, 9am-11am and Wednesdays, 7pm-9pm. All Reunion residents are welcome to play. There are no leagues or teams, we just play matches and have fun. Come join us and we’ll help you get started. Reunion residents can also reserve a pickleball court anytime from 7am to 11pm. EMPTY NESTERS STEP TOWARD NORMAL TIMES After a 13 month hiatus due to Covid-19 concerns, 38 fully vaccinated members of the Reunion Country Club Empty Nester group gathered at The Meeting House on the evening of April 17th for simple fellowship and a short planning session. Although the number of attendees was lessened by some members not yet being fully vaccinated and some having continuing discomfort about group gatherings, the spirit of happiness and the sound of laughter throughout the night was undeniable. Members in attendance were encouraged to “brown bag it” since the consensus was that the iconic Empty Nester covered dish buffet should be temporarily discontinued until confidence levels could be regained, but even without this integral group tradition the event proved to be a huge success. In keeping with the gathering being a bit of a “new beginning” for the Empty Nester group, it seemed appropriate that co-Chairpersons Rosemarie and Bill Wood recognize some of the founding members of the group. In attendance and recognized were Jan Trimble and Jack & Jerri Ofsharick. Jan and Jack gave some early history of the origination of the organization and informed attendees that the Empty Nester group was initially conceived as a Gourmet Club consisting of five couples. It could be said, “You’ve come a long way, Baby” as the membership now consists of 95 Reunion residents. Wow! Treasurer, Ron Scroggins, conducted a short business meeting during which he went over the current budget. Joanne Giel reported on the possibilities of reorganizing the Meal Train project and went on to lead a discussion of the 2021 calendar year Christmas Party. The annual event was forced into cancellation last year due to the pandemic and we are in an optimistic but cautious wait and see situation about possible restrictions for the coming year. Once again, although the group in attendance was small by Empty Nester standards, the appreciation and joy of resuming semi normal activities was evident. Barring any unexpected road blocks, the Empty Nester group will reconvene in the month of May and (yummy) the covered dish buffet will be back on the agenda.
