DID You KNOW?
Monthly friendly advice for our Reunion neighbors about covenants issues & guidelines
PARKING – PARKING – PARKING – As many times as it has been written, we still see illegal parking in the community each and every day. No car can park against the flow of traffic. This is not a Reunion Covenants regulation, but a state law. Cars parked on the street (for no longer than 4 hours at a time and never overnight) must be facing in the right direction. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to let visitors and workers know of this rule and ask them to correctly park for that reason. DOG WALKING – While not specifically written in covenants, but because we all want to be considered good and thoughtful neighbors, all dogs must be leashed outdoors if you are leaving your own property. Animal waste can be very destructive to plants and grasses. It is unfair to assume that your dog is the exception and they can run free. The landscaping committee has placed reciprocals in various areas around the community. After cleaning up either deposit the waste in one of those or bring it home for your own trash removal. HOUSE COLORS – Much conversation surrounded house colors during our annual meeting. Please make sure that while Fieldstone is attempting to “mix things up” in the new section, those of you considering a color change should adhere to the criteria first established. If you have any questions or concerns refer to those guidelines before you start an expensive housepainting project. Keeping our community well kept and free of hazards increases the value for each and every individual’s property within Reunion – please help to make our goal of 100% compliance. It will be greatly appreciated. The Covenants Committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers who do not make HOA rules, but simply monitor the community to make certain that all who live here follow the regulations that you were made aware of at the time of your purchase. We aim to keep Reunion the pristine neighborhood it is just as other committees strive to oversee the pool, social life, safety, and the Meeting House agendas. If you are interested in assisting The Covenants Committee please make your interest known by going to: reunioncovenant@gmail.com.
IN THE KNOW: Developer Update I want to thank everyone who was able to attend the Annual Meeting on January 16th. I think we all got home just in time for the season’s second snow storm! As I mentioned I am always impressed by the turnout at our Reunion meetings. It shows an incredible commitment to the neighborhood and I hope many of you find the time and energy to serve on a committee of interest to you. With the help of many hands, the workload can be light but the rewards will be plentiful for all. I wanted to recap one large take-away from the meeting: amenities are important to an active community. In this regard, I will be working with the Advisory Committee to evaluate our options in several areas: 1) Feasibility of an expansion of the pool deck to accommodate more furniture. 2) Determine if a dog park is a high interest item? How extensive and possible locations. 3) Design for a Tennis Pavilion for hosting other teams and resident events. 4) Plans to refresh and possibly expand upon current playground equipment. 5) Best use of lots the Pulte determines to be unbuildable. I’m certain as we begin to explore more opportunities will present themselves. As always, if you have thoughts or ideas please share them with your Advisory Committee. 4

EMPTY NESTERS
Have a Murder Mystery Event When the team of Annmarie & Poncho Torres and Joellen & John Marshall volunteered to co-host the inaugural Empty Nester event for 2018, they set out to “raise the bar” on Empty Nester entertainment. They did that and more on the evening of January 20th with their organization and production of a highly successful Murder Mystery dinner theatre that was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. The setting for the event was the 4 Deuces Speakeasy located in circa 1920s Chicago. The attendees of the by invitation only soiree consisted of a variety of gangsters, Mafioso, flappers and Molls, all there for a sundry of motives and schemes. Weeks before the actual Empty Nester event, the hosts sent character brochures out to committed attendees explaining what character each attendee was assigned as being along with personality sketches of that particular character. It was the duty of each attendee to portray their assigned character while mingling with the crowd on the night of the event and to drop prearranged clues and phrases that might (or might not) be pieced together to determine, at the end of the night, the identity of the murderer. Going into the evening, none of the attendees knew who the victim was going to be. The evening began with party goers mingling and socializing as they mutually admired costumes and shared the prearranged clues and hints that had been provided to them. Then, without warning, the lights went out and gun shots echoed in the room. When the lights came back up, Big Jim Ravioli (aka Jack Ofsharick) boss of Chicago’s south side, lay dead on the nightclub floor. Whodunit??? After a dinner which consisted of covered dish entrees, sides, appetizers and desserts provided by the Empty Nester members, the mingling and clue dropping continued as each guest attempted to determine who had committed the dastardly crime of murdering Big Jim Ravioli. Near the end of the night it was announced that Bruce Grey had successfully put the pieces together to arrive at the conclusion that Rebecca Ravioli had, in fact, “offed” her own father. ‘Course it was just business…nothing personal! Prizes were presented at the end of the evening for the successful sleuth, Bruce Grey; best costume went to Merridee Michelson and wealthiest participant to Donna Smith for her ability to collect more “mystery bucks” than anyone else during the night through the practice of blackmail, bribery, threats or offers of “services rendered”. It was an outstanding event that represented a lot of hard work and detailed planning by the co-host team. Many thanks go to the Torreses and the Marshalls for a fun filled evening. Thanks also go to the always sporting Empty Nester group for going all out in putting together costumes and playing along with the game to make it a fun event for all concerned. The Empty Nester group is open to and composed of Reunion residents who meet the sole requirement of no longer having children living at home with them. The group is totally self-sustaining and all Empty Nester functions and events are financed wholly by Empty Nester dues and occasional membership assessments with no supplement or financial assistance coming from HOA dues. Prospective members are invited to come to an event, free of charge, to see if there is an interest in joining. The membership is more than just a party club. It has evolved into friendships that provide strong support for one another. If you have an interest or more questions, please contact Annmarie Torres at 267-251-1986 or email anmre@bellsouth.net. 6
