DID You KNOW?

Monthly friendly advice for our Reunion neighbors about covenants issues & guidelines

Once again we are enjoying the lazy days of summer in our beautiful and friendly community. With the advantages of living in such a great place come responsibilities as homeowners that are dictated by covenants as well as our individual desire to maintain the esthetic value of our properties. This is the essence of our monthly “Did You Know?” articles – to disperse pertinent information in a neighborly way. That said, if you should receive a notification about a covenant violation, please do not take a personal offense, but rather see it as an opportunity to remain in compliance before fines accrue. Covenants volunteers aim to assist, not reprimand. If you have questions or concerns about any reminder you receive (given in the form of a yellow card), please refer to the Covenant Rules and Regulation manual by going to the Reunion Website at http://fieldstonerpcommunities.com/reunion/document_category. There you will find the Declaration of Protective Covenants plus other essential documents used to make modification requests. Some things to keep in mind during our summer months are: 1. Clothing Lines - Use our beautiful pool but towels – actually any clothing – cannot be hung in public sight to dry. 2. Parking – summertime brings opportunities for family and friends to gather – however, parking regulations remain and must be enforced. They include the following: • Park all vehicles off the road when possible. • If cars do not fit on driveways, they must go in the direction of traffic and should be on one side of the street in order to allow for emergency vehicles and other residents to easily pass. 3. Trash Cans - We know they smell but trash cans must be stored in the garage or on modification approved pads. 4. Golf Cart Driving – Despite the nice weather and temptation to drive around, everyone behind the wheel must have a valid and current Georgia Driver’s License. This pertains to ALL drivers, even if an adult is present in the cart. No one can drive without a driver’s license and no child should be on the lap of a driver while operating the cart. These are direct regulations from the State of Georgia. The sheriff is particularly alerted to violations involving golf and recreational carts during the summer months – fines could be given to violators. 5. Mailboxes - Mailboxes requiring sprucing up must be done in a timely fashion and the paintings/numbering must follow the guidelines. 6. Lawn and Garden Maintenance - This is especially important during our growing season. Keep up with weekly cuttings and anything dying or on their “way out” must be pruned to keep a tidy look to the outside of your home.

7. Leash Law - Strolling in the neighborhood on pleasant days is one of the great advantages of living in Reunion; however, please remember that no dog can be off their owners’ property “off leash”. Picking up after your dog is required and the right thing to do at all times. Should you want to become a part of this volunteer group, please email Angela Pavlichek directly at: angelapavlichek@fieldstonerp.com. New members are always welcome.

The Covenants Committee wishes you a safe and happy summer! 4

EMPTY NESTERS AUCTION NIGHT!!! May 19th was the long anticipated yearly “Auction” for the Empty Nesters hosted and emceed by Jack Ofsharick, with the assistance of his lovely wife Gerri. “Trash to Treasure” was the theme and our auctioneer was able to enumerate many optional and creative uses for small jewelry boxes, odd shaped vases, and unidentifiable brick-a-brack which teased the imaginations of possible bidders. As one enthusiastic attendee wrote “If you did not go to the EN Event last night, you missed one heck of a good time. My side still hurts from laughing....” The evening began with a delicious three course meal, the items of which were provided by the attendees. As is certain for our pot luck events, no matter how varied the dishes from southern to Italian to Mexican to Pinterest, it all blended together deliciously! Many thanks to those who worked with Jack and Gerri to make this event successful. They were Barbara and George Hasaka, Carolyn Notheis, Ellen Kirk, and all the members who donated their one-of-a-kind treasures. The proceeds of this event will be added to help defray costs for holiday events. If you are not currently an Empty Nester, but would like information about our group, please contact Sue Dennis at SueDonDennis@hotmail.com.

Graham & Darlene Stuart 6407 Sycamore Drive June’s Yard of the Month was Graham and Darlene Stuart (yes, related to JEB). For all of you naysayers, this yard only has two yard trinkets. But, they have Col Reb on them so that makes them pretty cool. The yard itself is perfect. They don't cut the bermuda grass down like a golf course, but leave it at a perfect 2 inches. Moreover, the yard has Geranium planters in perfect places as well as tiny cobblestone riverbeds to aid the rainwater runoff for a nice touch. Add the variegated liriope and the pretty pink knockout roses and you have your June winner winner chicken dinner.
