Monthly friendly advice for our Reunion neighbors about covenants issues & guidelines
Well, the hot and humid weather has finally left Georgia and that means preparing for fall and the upcoming winter months. With that in mind, it is important to focus on general maintenance that will not only enhance the beauty of your property but also keep your investment in top condition.

Things to put on the “to do” list might be:
• Only licensed drivers can operate golf carts on public roads. No child can steer or drive a cart (even with parents present) unless they have a valid GA license.
• Cleaning gutters and make sure that they are secured tightly as ice, snow, heavy winds, and rain can cause them to detach. • Raking up leaves because their decaying process can cause damage to the very grass that you’ve worked so hard during the summer to maintain. • Painting and repairing the lettering on mailboxes because winter weather will cause any exposed metals to rust – by covering them with paint now, you can avoid further damage come spring. HELP REQUEST: The aim of the Covenants Committee is to monitor the regulations that every owner is responsible to abide by and to give helpful suggestions each month in the spirit of community cohesion. Empty Nesters Say... Aloha For most people the general plan is to go on vacation in order to attend a Hawaiian luau. Well, the Empty Nester group of Reunion Country Club had a better idea. After taking their traditional July break in having monthly events, the Empty Nesters returned from their “vacation” to gather at The Meeting House on the night of August 18th—for a Hawaiian luau. The event was co- hosted by JoEllen & John Marshall and Loretta & Jon Summerville and was attended by 52 Empty Nesters clad in grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts and Polynesian leis of every floral color. The evening began with the customary social period that allowed party goers the opportunity to visit and chat with one another before visiting the appetizer buffet table. In keeping with the theme of the night, Empty Nester members had been asked to provide appetizers and entrees that featured a Hawaiian or Polynesian flare. Accordingly, the attendees feasted on delicacies such as coconut shrimp, Hawaiian skewers, glazed pork and other tropical delights. All this was followed by desserts such as pineapple cake and other Hawaiian oriented sweets. After the culinary portion of the night was concluded, the members in attendance were asked to vote for the best dressed male and female for the evening. John Marshall then led the audience in a unique round of “Pocket Scavenger Hunt”. During this game John asked people to produce from their pockets, purses or handbags somewhat unusual items such as a real photo (not digital), a cloth pocket handkerchief, a golf ball marker to name only a few. The table with the most requested items in their possession was deemed the winner. The table of Donna & Jerry Smith, Sue & Scott Smith, Judy and Don Smith and Betty & Gary Hodges were awarded candy bars for their victory. Following the scavenger hunt, Jon Summerville led the group in a challenging round of Hawaiian trivia. With a score of 10 correct answers out of 13 questions the team of Ellen Kirk, Fran Bridwell, and Merridee & Ken Michelsen collected bragging rights and bottles of wine for their victory in Hawaiian trivia. Closing out the night’s happenings, Donna Smith was named best dressed gal with her very believable Hula Dancer outfit and Don Dennis gained the title as best dressed guy with his also believable Tacky Tourist ensemble. The event proved to be a great success with a good time being had by all who attended. Not only were the Empty Nesters able to indulge in their joy of dressing in costume, but they were also given the opportunity to sample and enjoy food items that were a bit out of the ordinary. Many thanks go out to the Marshalls and Summervilles for the excellent job they did in planning and conducting the evening. Once again, thanks are due to everyone who contributed in the success of the night with the contribution of food and the donation of labor in setting up before the event and cleaning up afterward.
