Friendly Reminders and Helpful Tips: • Fall and Winter Turf Maintenance: By now your lawns should start going dormant and plant growth should be slowing down. However unseasonably warm temperatures are still occurring so please continue to stay focused on your yard maintenance. Now is the time to be preparing for your fall/winter turf treatment of pre-emergent to kill weeds so they do not comeback in the spring. If you miss this cycle of weed prevention it will be hard to get them under control in the spring. It is recommended that you hire a lawncare company to handle your turf maintenance. This way, you do not have to worry about it and your yard should look great and free from weeds all year-round. • Mailboxes: If your mailbox and/or post is faded it is time to perform some regular maintenance. Approved paint materials can be purchased at your local home repair store. Mailbox standards include brass numbers, a metallic silver accented Medallion and a black semi-matte finish on the mailbox and post (Do-it-Yourself with Rustoleum Textured paint, semi-gloss Black (#7220). You can order replacement numbers by contacting the Clubhouse. Replacements are $5 each. They are self-adhesive and easy to apply to a clean, prepared mailbox plate. If the numbers are faded, you can clean them with brass cleaner to brighten and renew their look. If they are weather damaged, you can remove them and order new ones. The Community medallion must have a silver accent with ah black background. If this sounds like too much work, you may also contact Ted Tatum at 770-827-5365 or email mailboxrefreshers@yahoo to take care of all your mailbox needs and he will make it look as good as new! • Trash Cans: Trash cans and recycling containers must be stored out of view of the street and of all your neighbors. Please only put them at the street on the day of pick-up or late the evening before pick-up only. • Permanent Basketball Goals: Portable Basketball goals are NOT permitted in the community. Permanent goals must be approved by the DRC (Design Review Committee). If you have a permanent goal that has already been approved the goal must be maintained according to community standards. We are here to assist you seven days a week. During the times that the office is closed, please either email us or leave us a voicemail message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Our goal is to return calls and emails within 24 hours if not sooner. We have fallen short of that goal at times over the past couple of months due to the transition of the new management team. But we are striving to improve the timeliness of our responses. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

New Coaching for Residents! As Sterling on the Lake grows, with 2 additional courts planned, it has become evident that a more cohesive and expanded tennis program is needed to meet the tennis needs of our adult and junior residents. As such, the Tennis Committee is excited to announce that Gwinnett Tennis has been approved by the Board of Directors to provide coaching in SOTL. Gwinnett Tennis is a full-service tennis management company founded and operated by Chase Hodges, director of tennis at Georgia Gwinnett College. As GGC Head Men & Women’s Coach, Chase has a 9-time National Championship title record, earning him 9-time NAIA Coach of the Year as well as 4-time ITA NAIA National Coach of the Year. In addition to Coach Hodges, Gwinnett Tennis offers a full staff of USPTA certified tennis professionals (Associate Pros & Master Pros), with extensive experience working with adults and juniors of all ages. Gwinnett Tennis will be providing SOTL a complete program - private lessons, group lessons, ALTA team coaching, summer camps, junior academy, resident tournaments and social events. Programming will begin in February 2019, with a roll-out party at the courts in January during the Australian Open (specific date to be determined). Gwinnett Tennis pros will be available for coaching during December at residents’ requests. Contact Chase directly at GwinnettTennis.com or email the SOTL Tennis Committee at tennis@sterling-life.com to schedule a lesson. We are excited about this new partnership with Gwinnett Tennis!

THANK YOU TO TRAVIS AND KIM Travis and Kim will no longer be providing coaching in SOTL. They will be missed by many of our residents – both adults and juniors. Travis, especially, has been coaching here for several years and we appreciate all he has done for our tennis community! We wish them both continued success at their full-time positions – Kim at Hall County Recreation and Travis at Chateau Elan.
