HOMEOWNER’S
ASSOCIATION DUES The 1st installment of the 2018 Sterling on the Lake Homeowner’s Association Dues is due on January 1st, 2018. Please be advised that any payments received after January 14th will incur a 10% late fee . For homes in The Springs, the Village Center, and the Townhomes, the 1st Quarter payment for your Low Maintenance Landscape Program is also due. This deadline also applies to the shared driveway maintenance fee of Parkside homes. Payments may be made by any of the following methods: • Pay directly to your homeowner account via credit or debit

Postmark must reflect a date postmarked before January 14th, 2018. • Cash payments are not accepted for Association Dues.
Have questions regarding your homeowner account? Please contact Kathy Andrews, Association Manager, at KAndrews@cmacommunities.com or call 770-965-3980, Option 1.
Residents, While the calendar tells us it is Fall, the temperatures don’t seem to agree. Normally by now your lawns would start going dormant and plant growth would be slowing down. That is not yet the case. Please continue to stay focused on yard maintenance. For the past 3 weeks out on inspection drives, the most common violation letters that were sent out were for yard maintenance, mailboxes, portable basketball goals and trash cans being visible to neighbors. • FALL TURF MAINTENANCE: Now is the time to be preparing for your fall/winter turf treatment of pre-emergent to kill weeds so they don’t comeback in the Spring. If you miss this cycle of weed preventative maintenance, you may not catch up and get ahead of them in the Spring and Summer. • MAILBOXES: If your mailbox and/or post is faded, approved paint materials can be purchased at any home store as detailed out on page 3 of our newsletter. Are you missing numbers? Stop by the Clubhouse and purchase replacements for $5 each. They are self-adhesive and easy to apply to a clean, prepared mailbox
4
plate. If the numbers are faded you can clean them with brass cleaner to brighten and renew their look. If they are weather damaged, you can remove them and order new ones from the Clubhouse office. The Community Medallion must have a silver accent with black background. • TRASH CANS: Roll containers out on Monday evenings and after the trash is picked up please store the receptacle out of the view of ALL neighbors. • PORTABLE BASKETBALL GOALS: Portable Basketball goals are not allowed in the community. Permanent goals must be approved by the DRC (Design Review Committee). If you have a Permanent goal already approved the goal must be maintained to the community guidelines.

Empty Nester’s Corner
Get out and Get Active! Our Empty Nesters Ladies Hiking Group has EXPANDED to include a Walking Group! Within Sterling on the Lake, we have a group of ladies who are experienced hikers who enjoy meeting monthly to take the challenge at a new local hiking spot. There are also ladies in the neighborhood who are interested in visiting some of our local and state parks, and don’t feel that a strenuous hike is the way to go, but would like to still participate in the group luncheon afterwards, and the adventure of the trip. Many thanks to neighbors Rose Marie Fagan and Pat Nance for working together to arrange some “hikes/walks” that would give options for a shorter path and a longer path that would accommodate both groups. In future months, each of the groups may be combined as the trails are modifiable, and in other months the two groups will plan activities separately. For instance, in September, the group visited Little Mulberry Park, which is a paved loop of approximately 2 miles. The “walkers” will complete the loop once, and the “hikers” will complete the loop twice. Both groups were able to enjoy this beautiful park at their own pace and receive the benefits of a good workout. (Not to mention the entire group enjoying J. Christopher’s for lunch afterwards!) Be on the lookout for information about our next adventures!
New Group! Dear Empty Nesters, Based on a positive response from neighbors, a new group is forming! Our Movie & Lunch Bunch will meet monthly! Our first outing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7th. For future dates, an email reminder will be sent on the Friday before the outing date via our EN Group Mail List with movie suggestions. If you would like to join neighbors on 11/7, please respond to Merce Bolling on or before Sunday, November 5th so that a lunch reservation at Olde Towne Tavern and Grille can be confirmed. Participants should meet at the restaurant at 11:15AM. Movie details will be sent on 11/3 – be sure to join the EN Group on www.Sterling-Life.com to avoid missing great announcements and gatherings!
