SPORTS AND OUTDOORS IN PARK CITY

Park City is an attractive resort town in the Wasatch Mountains, located just 32 miles east of Salt Lake City. Once a center for silver mining, Park City transformed itself in the mid-twentieth century to a skiing mecca and tourist hot spot. The variety of activities that take you outdoors in Park City is truly mind boggling. Our historic mountain town can take you from enjoying a concert under the stars to racing down one of our hundreds of miles of mountain biking trails in the same day. And the same goes for hiking, hot air ballooning, fly fishing, horseback riding, river rafting and any number of recreation activities that will get your heart racing and your desire for Park City family fun satisfied.

Park City was one of the major centerpieces of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Nearly 100 restaurants and tons of shops in a scenic downtown area round out this enjoyable mountain town. Yes, Park City, Utah is home to three big-name resorts. And yes, it would be easy to stay busy simply sticking to the slopes. But that would be to overlook some of Park City’s special winter offerings, like dog sledding and snow tubing. Or a sleigh ride, pulled by snow cat, up to the Viking Yurt.

In the summer, Park City remains a very popular destination. The mountains are even more beautiful once the snow melts, and visitors can ride the tram up and descend on foot, mountain bike or alpine slide.

Year-round cultural events, such as Artstravaganza in August and the renowned Sundance Film Festival in January, bring a wide selection of international travelers to Park City, creating a cosmopolitan vibe not often found in this part of the country.
