AN AFRICAN SAFARI

VICTORIA FALLS CHOBE NATIONAL PARK THE OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA 1ST NOVEMBER 2016 10 DAYS/9 NIGHTS

The tour begins at Victoria Falls where we spend two nights at the Victoria Falls River Lodge. Here we have time to explore the falls, cruise the Zambezi River and begin the safari experience. From here we drive to Chobe National Park and join a mobile-tented safari camp, “Chobe Under Canvas”. We spend 4 nights camping in comfort, deep in the pristine African bush and experience upclose and personal experiences with Botswana’s wildlife. We then transfer to Kasane airport and board a light plane to Machaba Camp, a luxury camp situated in the game rich Khwai area, on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta. Three days are spent game viewing on both land and water. Just about every species found in the Okavango can be seen here. We then fly back to Maun airport and onto Johannesburg where you can continue onto Cape Town for the optional 4-day Cape Town extension. And the really adventurous might add a visit to the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda.

Uninterrupted panoramic views of African sunsets and exceptional wildlife viewing makes this uniquely located lodge the ideal place from which to explore Victoria Falls as it combines the safari experience with one of the world's most famous tourist destinations! The main lodge has an open plan design and has been positioned just back from the river – in view of the elephants' natural evening route. Sit back and sip on a cocktail, under the shade of the thatched roof, as the elephants graze along the river line. It's a cool escape from the African sun. Your stay is fully inclusive of all meals, local beverages, 2 game drives and river cruises per day, transfer to Victoria Falls, high tea and bird watching on Kandahar Island.

Accommodation Overview Chobe UNDER CANVAS

Mobile Tented Safari Camp Live out the adventure of a lifetime as close to nature as you can get in the relaxing solitude of the African landscape. Comfortable mobile safari tents with ensuite bathrooms (with flush toilet and steaming hot bucket shower) at secluded campsites offer up close and personal encounters with Botswana’s wildlife. The camp moves to a different site every five or six days, ensuring that game drives constantly explore fresh areas.

“Tucked in the shade of a dense forest, deep in the pristine African bush, guests revel in the total isolation of these private wildlife sites. Nighttime noises filter through canvas walls and well-used animal trails bring unexpected visitors to thrill and delight. Tented guest areas create shady spaces to relax in the heat of the day or share a drink with friends in the evening hours, as dishes full of flavor find their way to dining tables. Sated, draw your chair closer to the fire as talk and laughter merge into the starry night, swapping stories meant to last a lifetime.”

Accommodation Overview MACHABA CAMP

Machaba Camp is situated in the game rich Khwai area, on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta. The camp is built in the classic 1950's style, with luxury safari tents, en-suite bathrooms and living areas, not forgetting the romantic outdoor showers. All the tents are situated on the ground and the pathways to the tents meander between the large riverine trees. All 10-luxury tents are situated in the beautiful riverine treeline on the Khwai River, overlooking the famous Moremi Game Reserve. From these tented verandas one can watch the daily parade of animals coming down to drink at the river in front of camp. The camp consists of 8 luxury twin tents and 2 luxury family tents. The name Machaba is the local Setswana name for the Sycamore Fig Tree, the tree of life. Machaba trees are renowned for their abundant fruit, which feed a vast array of animals throughout the year, including elephant, baboons, bushbuck, green pigeons and many more.
