Skirting the edges of active geothermal fields he used the volcanic contours to sculpt fairways, elevate tees and greens and bury hazards within the natural landscape.
Golf Clubs & Course Overview Kinloch Golf Club Jack Nicklaus designed the course. It's a links style design, but not by the sea. Unlike links golf it has a number of greens protected by bunkers in front, requiring an aerial attack, rather than the bump and run. And the greens are highly undulating. The front nine is a nice warm-up for the more visually attractive and challenging back nine. Many regard Kinloch as the best course in New Zealand.
