Access Care of Coastal Texas ACCT Announces new Executive Director Lesley Sommer (he/him/his) Access Care of Coastal Texas (ACCT) is excited to announce Lesley Sommer is joining the agency as Executive Director. Mr. Sommer is an executive that has focused his career in the non-profit sector.

Prior to accepting the leadership position with Access Care of Coastal Texas (ACCT), Sommer served as the association executive for the Galveston Association of Realtors® for 9 years. He also previously served as the Executive Director of Galveston’s Historic Downtown Partnership and led the preservation programs of the Galveston Historical Foundation as Director of the Preservation & Conservation Services Department and Director of the Preservation Resource Center.

Mr. Sommer is a lifetime member of the Texas Exes, a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Graduate Honor Society, and a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Galveston. He is also a proud alumnus of Leadership Galveston.

FRIENDS FEEDING FRIENDS CLIENT LUNCH PROGRAM

H a p p y N e w Y e a r ! O u r c l i e n t l u n c h p r o g r a m h a s r e t u r n e d t o a weekly schedule. We are looking for new friends to help us serve nutritious meals every Thursday. We currently serve on average 30-40 clients and their family members. Planning and the help from our community partners make it possible for us to offer a healthy balanced meal. We find casseroles are usually the easiest and can provide a well-rounded lunch. Anyone wishing to prepare & serve a meal or financially support a lunch with a $100.00 donation please email us at give@accttexas.org

ACCT Extended Hours

ACCT is excited to announce extended service hours on Mondays. Office hours for Mondays are now 9am-7pm.

Clients can schedule an update, intake, & housing appointments for Monday evenings.

We are also offering FREE HIV/Syphilis Testing on a walk-in basis until 7pm on Mondays.

MESSAGE FROM PANTRY Reminder pantry is the last two full weeks of the month. January pantry dates are 1/17, 1/18, 1/19, 1/24, 1/25, & 1/26 from 11 AM-3PM.

Client Holiday Lunch at the San Luis Hotel The Holiday Luncheon at the San Luis Hotel was a wonderful time.

The decorations were gorgeous making us all feel special and welcomed. The client gift this year was a 5-pc bath towel set.

Clients were also entered into a raffle with all clients winning a special unique gift.

The food was tasty and bountiful. The fun continued playing “Name that Song” with Steve as MC and Christin spinning the tunes. A good time was had by all!

OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT 2022 Do you receive assistance through ACCT to pay for your health insurance? Here are some suggestions to make the sign-up process easier this year.

Open enrollment period for 2022 is extended.

The dates are November 1st through January 15th, 2022.

Be sure to choose a plan that is accepted by not only your PCP, but your HIV doctor, preferred hospital, and that all your medications are covered by the formulary associated with the plan. Several of the insurances available in our area are not accepted by UTMB. Also, inquire about including a dental plan to your coverage.

ACCT can assist with those premiums as well.

As always, the health insurance must be a silver plan to qualify for ACCT assistance in paying the premiums. Who qualifies? Basically, anyone who is employed making at least $12, 760/ yr. but less than $51,060/yr ., retired or on disability not yet qualifying for Medicare or someone who is not eligible for an employer offered insurance plan.

Community Health Insurance (formerly Pride Life) is assisting our clients again this year to help make the processes as smooth and hiccup free as possible. Give them a call at (713) 8041939. They will make sure you get the plan that is right for your unique needs.

Client Holiday Party at the San Luis Hotel December 9, 2021

Thank You! Bill Milligan and crew for the wonderful holiday decorations in the agency's lobby. We also want to thank all of the donations received during the holidays. These donations enabled us to purchase gift towel sets for the clients. We were also for the first time ever able to purchase Christmas turkeys for all of the clients.
