Dear Parent, Congratulations – you’ve taken the first step in helping your child achieve academic success! You’ll soon see how my “Rotational Approach to LearningR”, combined with my system of Individualized One-to-One InstructionR , can truly help your child develop skills that will last a lifetime. At THE TUTORING CENTER we have a clear four-part mission for every child who studies with us: Part 1: Your child will develop stronger academic skills in Reading, Math, and Writing. Part 2: Your child will have better concentration, focus, and attention span. Part 3: Your child will have more confidence and motivation. Part 4: Your child will have stronger Test-Taking and Study Skills. We’ve learned that none of our competitors, and no schoolbased tutoring program, can offer a mission this comprehensive, and none of them can deliver the results that we can. First, we’re proud of the organized, clutter-free environment we provide for your child. We have carefully designed our centers this way to help your child focus, concentrate, and excel to heights you may have never thought possible. Second, and most importantly, if you look at the children who learn with us, you will see children who are excited about learning and having FUN while doing it – and some of them are the children the schools were convinced they couldn’t motivate. We have the finest instructors in the industry. Our instructors are the best of the best: they’re painstakingly chosen from candidates with superior credentials. All of our Instructors hold Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees (many also hold other top professional credentials in a variety of fields), and our Assistant Instructors are recognized as top students in our local colleges and universities. Some of our centers may also have one or two Interns. These Interns must be at the “top of their high school class” and serve as excellent mentors and role models for our older students. Our Diagnostic Assessment At THE TUTORING CENTER we specialize in helping children master academic skills, get better grades, achieve higher standardized test scores, and gain the confidence, motivation, and concentration necessary to succeed. Before you enroll in one of our programs, we conduct a Diagnostic Assessment that quickly and accurately pinpoints your child’s strengths and weaknesses and the skills needed for improvement. We then develop a personalized program and then give your child the finest instruction possible in a positive, fun, and caring environment. We are so confident that you will use us for all your tutoring needs that we don’t charge you for this valuable Diagnostic Assessment. Because of the large numbers of Diagnostic Assessments that we give year after year, we have developed extensive educational research that indicates: Children below grade level or with weak academic skills in reading, math, or writing tend to stay below grade level unless serious intervention is taken; and, children that are 6 months to 1 year ahead of grade level in the primary academic skills have the greatest chance for success in school. Therefore, we will move quickly to let you know what we can do to help. After the Diagnostic Assessment is completed, you will be provided with a comprehensive report outlining your child’s strengths and weaknesses and an intervention plan to ensure a permanent solution to your child’s difficulties. Again, there is no charge for this comprehensive report or consultation. 3
Our results are far superior to home-based or school tutoring programs – Guaranteed! Our classrooms feature an intense learning environment that combines two methods invented by Edward S. Thalheimer, Ph.D., founder of THE TUTORING CENTER. Our innovative system gives your child far more guidance then he or she will ever receive in a classroom full of children, or even in a small group. You have a lot of choices available for your child, and we want to make sure you have a chance to make the choice that’s in your child’s best interest. For instance, many schools provide after-school tutoring or intervention programs for students who are having difficulty in school, and maybe your child has been offered one in the past. Even though these programs are free to families, current research indicates that these programs are inefficient and time-consuming, and – because they focus mostly on completing your child’s homework – they can not offer you a permanent solution. THE TUTORING CENTER’S #1 goal for your child First and foremost, children who are successful in school have strong academic skills in reading, math, and writing. Stronger academic skills leads to better grades in the classroom. Research indicates that successful elementary and middle school children have test scores in Reading and Math that are 6 months to 1 year ahead of grade level. Research also indicates that successful middle and high school children have excellent math skills through Algebra 1. So that’s our first and primary goal for your child. THE TUTORING CENTER will help your children improve from their current math and reading levels to 6 months to 1 year ahead of grade level or be able to score an 80% or higher on our standardized Algebra Assessment. We accomplish this goal with our system of “Individualized Direct One-To-One Instruction”. You will be hearing and reading a substantial amount of information about what many professionals consider the finest system of after-school education available. This method of tutoring combines individual one-to-one instruction with independent application and mastery of the skills just learned. Its the perfect combination.

Small-group instruction is most often very distracting for students. When an Instructor is working with one child, competition and intimidation are usually unavoidable factors. ACADEMIC PROGRAMS Incredible results in just two or three hours a week. Your child will be assigned two or three 60-minute sessions per week if he or she is enrolled in one of our Reading, Math, Writing or Enrichment Programs. Students in our Pre-Algebra, Algebra or Geometry Programs may be asked to come to the center for three sessions per week until they begin to get A’s and B’s in math. If your child is falling behind in Reading or Math, he/she will enroll in our “Geniuses In TrainingTM” Academic Skill Programs. These intense programs will help your child improve rapidly – up to a full year’s worth of improvement in just 6 months or about 40 sessions of instruction. Even if your child is behind grade level and is experiencing difficulty in the classroom, if you stay the course and complete your program, THE TUTORING CENTER will ensure your child’s improvement to above grade level. In today’s competitive environment, math is getting more and more difficult for students of all ages. Our Geniuses in Training Math Programs ™ will increase your child’s computational and problem-solving skills for long-term success, and will also prepare your child for immediate classroom challenges like daily assignments and chapter tests so he/she can earn A’s and B’s. In order to reach the goals set out at the time of enrollment, we highly recommend that math students attend three sessions per week. If your child is also having difficulty with homework, we recommend our Online Homework Help ™ (OLH) in addition to our “in person” academic programs. The ultimate goal of our Math Program is to get your children 6 months to 1 year ahead of what’s going on in the regular classroom!
Our Geniuses in Training Reading Program™ will help your child improve dramatically in the areas of Reading Comprehension, Phonics, Sight Words, and Vocabulary. It also includes a substantial amount of Writing…. and best of all, we will help your child build focus and concentration. This program is designed to help your child improve on average one full grade level in 40 sessions of instruction (about 5-6 months) if you are attending 2 sessions per week. (Imagine your child reading ahead of the class average rather than behind!).

For older students with less than a 9th grade reading level, our Geniuses in Training Reading Program ™ includes Writing. This program will help your child make “leaps and bounds” with writing composition and Language Arts. We provide your child with a very structured approach to writing that is not currently offered at your regular school. Our curriculum includes substantial practice with sentences, paragraphs, essays, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar as well as a significant amount of Reading Comprehension and help building your child's focus and concentration. If your child is having difficulty with Social Studies or Science in school, this program will really help.
In today’s competitive environment, writing is getting more and more important for students of all ages. Our Writing Enrichment Program ™ will increase your child’s writing skills for longterm success, and will also prepare your child for for more advanced courses in High School. This program will help your child make “leaps and bounds” with writing composition and Language Arts. We provide your child with a very structured approach to writing that is not currently offered at your regular school. This program includes substantial practice with sentences, paragraphs, essays, punctuation, and capitalization, as well as a significant amount of English Grammar and help building your child’s focus and concentration.

The “Little Geniuses in Training” Kindergarten Program is intended for children who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten. Depending upon your child’s needs, the program begins where he or she is comfortable and then (as do all of our programs) empowers your child to “Reach For The Highest Star!” Research indicates positively that students who get a “head start” and acquire knowledge prior to it being presented in the 1st grade classroom do much better throughout the year and in successive years than students who do not. The best thing that you can do for your child right now is to give him or her this advantage and start their education now!
QUESTION: “At what age should my child start tutoring? ANSWER: Kindergarten, of course! When it comes to your child’s education, can you really afford to wait until he or she begins to display signs of difficulty before you start providing assistance? ENRICHMENT HONORS PROGRAMS If your child is ahead of grade level and getting A’s and Bs in school, then our high achiever Enrichment Programs will guarantee your children are ready for the tough challenges ahead. If your children are already well above grade level in Reading and Math, and are succeeding in the classroom, then there’s a place for them in one of our high achiever Enrichment Programs in Writing, Pre-SAT, Advanced Placement Math, and Study Skills.

If your child is already doing great in school, but needs additional enrichment, our Enrichment Program will maximize the student's long-term success in school! This exciting program will help your child achieve maximum, long-term educational success with increased motivation and confidence. The Enrichment Program includes advanced and intense practice in Reading, Math, and Writing.
Who is the Study Skills Enrichment Program designed for? Is your child disorganized, can’t get homework completed or turned in, doesn’t appear to understand what a teacher expects of him, cannot pick out important points in school lectures or from textbooks, can’t take notes, or is not successful on tests. Is your child struggling to pass his or her subjects but has pretty good academic skills? Or is your child a good student taking challenging subjects and working too many hours to maintain top grades? Your child may work too hard, stress too much, and try to burn the candle at both ends. For all of these students the answer to easing stress and improving grades is to learn how to learn- efficiently. This is what the Study Skills Enrichment Program is all about.

In today’s competitive environment, getting your child prepared for Advanced Placement courses and the College SAT/ACT Test is vital to getting accepted into the college of your choice. This high level program is reserved for very high achieving students and takes a good deal of commitment from the student. This program will help your child achieve maximum long-term educational success with increased motivation and confidence. The Pre SAT Enrichment Program includes intense practice in Critical Reading, Vocabulary, Writing, Algebra and Geometry.
Our Advanced Placement Math Program covers high level math all the way through integral calculus and the applications of integrals. Pre-Calculus curriculum covers advanced topics in algebra and trigonometry. An understanding of this material is necessary before beginning either the standard college calculus or high school AP Calculus courses. Calculus curriculum covers differential calculus, integral calculus, and the applications of integrals. The calculus curriculum is intended to cover all the material required for the Advanced Placement (AP) in Calculus AB.

Our SAT/ACT Program gives students the advantage of structured Individualized Instruction in a controlled environment for a fraction of the cost of our competitors. In today’s competitive academic environment, getting your child prepared for the SAT or ACT test is vital to being accepted into the college of your choice. Highly Trained Tutors utilizing Proven Curriculum consisting of innovative course books and practice tests will help students develop the knowledge and test taking strategies necessary to perform well on the SAT or ACT test. Students will be taking free proctored practice tests throughout the course of the program to simulate the feel of the test to better prepare for the real exam. Like all of The Tutoring Center's Programs, you will receive free Diagnostic Testing and computerized analysis of your strengths and areas in need of improvement. Our SAT/ACT Test Prep Program gives students the advantage of structured Individualized Instruction in a controlled environment for a fraction of the cost of our competitors. In today’s competitive academic environment, getting your child prepared for the SAT or ACT test is vital to being accepted into the college of your choice. Highly Trained Tutors utilizing Proven Curriculum consisting of innovative course books and practice tests will help students develop the knowledge and test taking strategies necessary to perform well on the SAT or ACT test. SAT/ACT Test Prep Program Sessions are held M-Th evenings from 7:30-9:30, and weekends from 10:00-2:00 pm. Not all locations offer this Program.
