From time to time, you may have questions regarding your child's progress. You will receive Progress Test results on a real SAT/ACT every 8 sessions and your child will have a private meeting with the Head Instructor to measure progress. These progress reports give you valuable details on your child's program, overall improvement, and work completion. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. One of the hallmarks of our programs is the customer service that we strive to give every family and child. We believe that when we put our customers first, we build relationships that last. In fact, many of our families have been with us for many years and even continue to refer families to us after they leave. During your Parent Orientation we will first review some of the important customer service policies designed to make your enrollment run as smoothly as possible so that we can concentrate our efforts on your child. Second, we will prepare an invoice, and receive payment for the SAT/ACT Program. Third, we will prepare a Payment Authorization Form if you are making recurring monthly tuition payments. By enrolling your child in one of my centers you have taken an important step to enhance your child's education. We appreciate the confidence you have shown in us, but more importantly, you have given your child "The Gift Of Education". Sincerely,

When should a student begin the SAT/ACT Program? Students learn some of what they need for college entrance exams in high school classes, but not everything. This is particularly true of the SAT, which tests problem-solving and critical thinking skills (unlike the ACT, which is more content based). Our SAT/ACT Program gives them the test-taking skills they might not get in school.
Starting test prep in the 10th grade Preparing a year before you take these tests can be a huge advantage. At the very least, students should begin preparing for each test 3 to 4 months before they take it.
Better scores Taking the SAT a 2nd time can raise your score 50 points, but our SAT/ACT Program can likely raise your score 100 points to 200 points or more.
Better PSAT scores Our SAT/ACT Program will help you prepare for the PSAT too. Since this test comes early in your Junior year (and at some schools even Sophomore year), you can’t study for the SAT 3 months out and be ready for the PSAT. Despite the old joke, the P in PSAT doesn’t stand for practice. There are real advantages to doing well on this test, including..............
Potential Scholarships Taking the PSAT in the Fall of your Junior year, but ONLY in your Junior year, can put you in the running for the National Merit Scholarship award. Unlike other scholarships, you don’t have to hunt this one down and apply; all you have to do is get a good score on the PSAT.

Better Colleges Starting our SAT/ACT Program early leads to better test scores, better test scores lead to better colleges, which lead to more options for a future career.
Better Financial Aid Top colleges offer the best financial aid, which is a big bonus when you are battling sky high college costs. Of course you generally need good SAT or ACT scores to land at the best colleges.
Not Buckling under the Pressure of Standardized Tests By preparing for college entrance exams early, the less pressure your son or daughter is under.
Additional Benefits of SAT/ACT prep Besides being ready for several of the most important tests in a high school career, students find benefits in the classroom too. SAT and ACT prep lets them work on areas where they need help and review subjects they may have forgotten. Prep work keeps students focused on educational and college goals. A good prep program keeps students organized, determined, and focused on their goals.
It also puts students ahead of the competition in one of the most important contests in which they will ever participate -THEIR FUTURE! please continue
Choosing the correct SAT/ACT Test Prep Course Choosing the right SAT or ACT prep course can be as challenging as taking the test itself. As students start on their journey to determine which test will best serve their goals, there are a number of considerations that will help them select the best fit. Determine how much help the student needs. The first step in any test prep is to take a real, timed, proctored exam. It can be intimidating, but it is a very useful exercise.
SAT/ACT Program Proctored Exams help the student find and focus on the areas that need improvement!
Establishing a baseline is critical for success. Knowing the students’ strengths and challenges on the exam before any prep helps students better understand where they need to focus their time and energy. It also allows them to establish realistic goals in choosing the right colleges and universities. The scored exam will also give you a sense of how well a student performs on various sections, which can help determine whether the student should pursue a broad or focused style of prep course. For example, if a student has a respectable score on all sections except Math, then The Tutoring Center instructors know where to focus their efforts. This is a big reason why we offer a FREE proctored SAT/ ACT and test consultation.
Decide how much to spend: SAT and ACT Test Prep courses can range in cost from free to nearly $10,000. The College Board, for example, offers a limited set of free online practice materials and an online course for about $70. Becoming familiar with the level and type of assistance a student needs can be of great assistance in finding the right fit. Our SAT/ACT Program has very competitive pricing for high quality One-to-One Intense Individualized Instruction. (about $40-$60 per hour.) please continue
Choosing the correct SAT/ACT Test Prep Course Understanding the Student’s Learning Style Taking stock of a student’s learning style can save time and money. Individual tutoring can be an invaluable resource for almost any student preparing for the SAT or ACT, some students might feel a higher level of accountability from One-to-One Intense Individualized Instruction. Most students will benefit from the back-and-forth interaction of One-to-One Intense Individualized Instruction. In general One-to-One Intense Individualized Instruction and not small group tutoring, is the only way to garner wholly personalized attention to unique topical and test taking skills of a given student. It is also wise to consider a blend of One-to-One Intense Individualized Instruction along with our SAT/ACT Mastery Workshop to fit a student’s learning style.

FAQ’s
What is the primary difference between the SAT & the ACT? The SAT is more of an aptitude test, measuring skill levels, reasoning, critical thinking, and verbal abilities. The ACT is an achievement test, measuring what the student has learned in school. Which is the preferred test of colleges and universities? Both tests are accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and universities. The scores are intended to supplement the student’s transcript but are often used for college admission requirements, course placement, and SCHOLARSHIPS! Do the tests have a mandatory essay section? No, The SAT no longer has a mandatory writing portion, it now contains an OPTIONAL essay. The ACT includes an OPTIONAL writing portion at an additional cost, though many colleges and universities recommend students complete this section. The SAT has a Math section that requires students to produce their own answers in addition to the multiple choice section of the test. The ACT is an entirely multiple choice based test. These unique sessions allow the student to work through these problems with supervision in a controlled environment to keep them on task and avoid the distractions associated with practicing these techniques in the home environment. This is one of the main factors that separate The Tutoring Center’s Program from the competition. Does my student have to take the SAT/ACT Full Program? Yes, each student is required to take the full program to achieve the highest level of improvement in order to better achieve their goals. How often will my student attend these 16 One-to-One Sessions? How often you come to these sessions will depend on your test date in relation to when you start your SAT/ACT Program, and your personal preference. The options available to you are either 1 session a week or 2 sessions a week. The Tutoring Center just wants to make sure your student is fully prepared when it is time to take the test. What if I complete the Program but want to improve my score even more? After the completion of the 64 hour/16 session SAT/ACT Program, the student can add an additional SAT/ACT Program (64 hour/16 session ), and can continue to do so as needed until the student feels adequately prepared.
Will The Tutoring Center contact the school guidance counselor when my child enrolls in the program? While it can, and will be a great benefit to your student if The Tutoring Center is in communication with the guidance counselor, for privacy reasons we require you, the parent, to initiate any communication with your child’s Guidance Counselor or any other school official. You may use our standard Release Form in the Parent Orientation document for this purpose. Under no circumstances will THE TUTORING CENTER initiate contact with your child’s Guidance Counselor or teacher without your permission. What happens if I cannot make it to my scheduled session? Each student enrolled is allowed two Emergency Cancellations with a minimum of twenty-four hour notice. Notice must be given by the parent via phone or e-mail. Will it be necessary for me to attend sessions over the holidays? THE TUTORING CENTER is closed on all National Holidays, three Vacation Weeks, and four Student Free Days used for staff training each calendar year. THE TUTORING CENTER is closed for Christmas Vacation (7 to 10 days), one week during the Summer, and one week for Spring vacation therefore the SAT/ ACT Program will also stop during those time periods. If I stop mid-program can I receive a refund? There are no tuition refunds available for either monthly or advance tuition payments. If a medical or other situation arises which prevents my child from finishing my enrollment agreement, a Tutoring Center credit may be issued (no cash refunds). Will I be taking a real test or a condensed practice test? Each of our exams will be proctored so the student will get a very accurate feeling of what it is like to take each test. In addition, each student will take several versions of the actual SAT or ACT exam providing them with a good range of questions that will appear on each test. Will the Student be required to take home a lot of extra Homework? Students will NOT be receiving homework assignments while enrolled in the SAT/ACT Program, however students will be attending two to four hours of Mastery Workshops per week. These workshops prove to be much more effective than completing work at home.

SAT/ACT FOUNDATIONS
Not quite ready for the SAT/ACT Prep Program?
The SAT/ACT Foundations Program is perfect fit for you. Whether you are scoring lower than expected because of a lack of foundation skills or you are a middle school student trying to get a head start on the SAT or ACT Test, The SAT/ACT Foundations Program will help you develop the skills you need to succeed on the SAT or ACT Test. The SAT/ACT Foundations Program is designed to fortify student skills so they will be fully ready to progress to the next phase of their test preparation: The SAT/ACT Program. The SAT/ ACT Foundations Program materials are ideally suited to working with lowerlevel test scorers or students as early as 8th grade. The Materials in this program focus on SAT & ACT Skill Development. The SAT/ACT Foundations Program covers all the essential SAT & ACT skills that the tests assume students have learned but that may be missing from standard high school curricula. (In order to enroll in the SAT/ACT Foundations Program students must have passed Algebra and Geometry in school.) Lower level scorers struggle with traditional SAT & ACT Prep because what they need most is extra help on underlying academic skills, NOT test-taking strategies. By focusing exclusively on skill building, the Foundations Program will boost lower level students’ scores and prepare them to transition to the SAT/ACT Program. Practice questions for all concepts are provided in both SAT & ACT format, allowing students to gain familiarity with both tests as they work through the program. In all, the three books in the Foundations Program provide hundreds of additional practice questions for the SAT & ACT. Student-Friendly Key concepts and ideas have been written specifically to make them accessible for younger students and lower level scorers. The SAT/ACT Foundations Program will allow students to begin working on SAT & ACT skills starting as early as 8th grade.
