Rescuers had to use a hammer and screwdriver to break the plastic around the cap and finally freed the man’s hand, unscathed, after a 20-minute struggle.

PEOPLE DIFFERENT FROM US

--Melanie Typaldos, 57, and her husband, Richard Loveman, 54, in Buda, Texas, are supposedly part of a growing trend of people keeping pet capybaras (giant, semi-aquatic guinea pigs that are the world’s largest rodents, at more than 100 pounds). “Gary” sometimes lounges on the couple’s marital bed and frolics in the above-ground pool the couple installed for him.

large enough to yield drinkable nectar, but its most startling distinction is its ability to nourish itself by trapping small animals in its razor-sharp spines, leaving them to decay. (At Britain’s Wisley Garden, it is fed with ordinary fertilizer rather than animals.) --Too Much Information: During a June debate in a House Rules Committee hearing on abortion legislation, U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess of Texas, himself an obstetrician/gynecologist, criticized a proposal to outlaw abortion at the 20-week limit (where a fetus is said to begin to feel

THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

--The gourmet lollipop company Lollyphile announced its latest flavor in June: Breast Milk Lollipops (four for $10). Owner Jason Darling said it “slowly dawned on” him that his friends were “producing milk so delicious it could turn a screaming, furious child into a docile, contented one. I knew I had to capture that flavor.” --Marketing Challenges: (1) The Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop franchisers, already with a lineup of sometimes-unappreciated flavors such as buffalo chicken wing soda, briefly experimented in June with “ranch dressing” soda, a mistaken adventure that co-founder Rob Powells jokingly blamed on his business partner. They concluded that the man was basically a woman and that the cause of the swelling was an ovarian cyst. The patient had both Turner syndrome, which causes women to lack some female features, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia, which boosts male

meager. The report, an update on 2004 numbers that were less than half those found this time around, estimated that Wal-Mart families accounted for more than 9,000 Wisconsin Medicaid enrollees. The $75 million, covering 75 stores, represents a low-end estimate with the high end about $130 million.

FESTIVUS MAXIMUS!

Yestival in Camden, NJ / Musikfest in Bethlehem If you’re feeling festive, then the upcoming weekend and week ahead are tailor-made for you! Let the “Fest-ing” begin! While Bethlehem will reverberate with the musical strains of hundreds of different bands and performers over the course of the 10-day mega-festival known as Musikfest that begins Friday, there is a 1-day festival taking place on the banks of the Delaware River directly across from Philadelphia at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ this Saturday, August 3. Yestival is a grand experiment with the prog-faithful greater Philadelphia area serving as the proving ground for possible future Yestivals in other markets. The Camden Waterfront and Philadelphia skyline will serve as dramatic backdrops for this incredible assemblage of classic rock talent. In addition to headliners Yes, Yestival features Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy, Montreal-based Genesis tribute band The Musical Box, LA-based jazz prog rock fusion band Volto! - featuring Tool drummer, Danny Carey, Sound of Contact, a hard prog-rock band featuring Simon Collins, son of Phil Collins, on drums and vocals and Renaissance featuring the lovely and talented Annie Haslam on vocals. Renaissance continues to tour in support of their latest record, Grandine il Vento, released in June, despite suffering a major tragedy in November with the death of longtime guitarist/ composer Michael Dunford. Dunford, upon returning to England after a North American tour, suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Surrey and passed away on November

20. Haslam says that “Mick” would’ve wanted the band to continue on to promote Grandine il Vent, Renaissance’s first album in 13 years. Haslam, born in England and now living in Bucks County, has had her own health challenges. She is a breast cancer survivor after being diagnosed in 1993 and continues to recuperate from a collapsed vertebra caused by the onset of osteoporosis that necessitates her wearing a specially constructed back brace which allows her to perform while standing.

Renaissance in 2012 L-R: David Keyes, Frank Pagano, Annie Haslam, Rave Tesar, Jason Hart, Michael Dunford

There is still a lot of fight and music left in this sweet songstress. She is determined not to let any physical limitations get in the way of doing what she loves. That includes painting works of art using oil and canvas. The merchandise booths at Yestival will be adorned by original works of art not only from Haslam but also from quintessential progressive rock artist, Roger Dean, famous for his album cover fantasy artwork for bands like Yes, Asia and Uriah Heep. My wife and I had the good fortune to meet Roger Dean while on the Cruise to the Edge where he personally autographed a calendar of prints for us on our honeymoon and we look forward to seeing

him again at Yestival. Renaissance, trying to fill the void at guitar due to Dunford’s passing, has recruited guitarist, Ryche Chlanda, formerly of Nektar and Fireballet. Haslam says, “We feel Ryche is the right musician to carry on with Michael’s legacy.” The impressive legacy and symphonic musicianship of Renaissance will set the tone for Yestival this Saturday afternoon. If this inaugural Yestival is successful, others will most certainly follow.

Back up here in Bethlehem, Musikfest celebrates 30 years of exquisitely diverse and for the most part – free - musical entertainment at a variety of venues on both the north and south sides. I’ve logged a lot of miles over the years at the Fest and this year will be no different. I anticipate crossing the Hill to Hill, Fahy and Minsi Trail Bridges multiple times over the duration of the festival with mug in hand.

I’m looking forward to seeing some of these bands and other local favorites as well as the gated classic rock shows at the Sands Steel Stage. Frampton’s Guitar Circus with Peter Frampton, B.B. King and Sonny Landreth is a must-see show! I’m definitely psyched for that one! I’m psyched for all of it! “LET THE FEST-ING BEGIN!!”

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS

PLOT: Years after the events of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, Logan (Hugh Jackman) lives as a vagrant in Alaska, haunted by visions of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen). He’s visited by Yukio (Rila Fukushima), a clairvoyant warrior in the employ of Yashida (Haruhiko Yamanouchi), the dying head of a Japanese tech empire. Having been saved by Logan during the bombing of Nagasaki, Yashida wishes to repay the favour by giving Logan the gift of mortality. Before he knows it, Logan finds himself in the middle of a violent power struggle within his old friend’s company, and must protect Yashida’s grand-daughter and heir, Mariko (Tao Okamoto) from Yakuza assassins. REVIEW: Good news everyone. THE WOLVERINE- for all of it’s years of production and false starts- is not only finally here, but it’s also pretty damn good! This time out, everyone involved has obviously put some real effort into making a solo Wolverine movie that stands apart from the rest of the franchise, and gives the character his due.

Hugh Jackman is his usual iconic self as Logan/Wolverine, although this time out he looks even more shredded than usual, with his physique approaching eighties-era Stallone levels at times. Having a little more time dedicated to character building this time out, and allowing Wolverine time to brood over killing Jean Grey, Jackman arguably gives his best Wolverine performance to date. In particular, he seems to relish the tougher dialogue he’s given here (with an epic f-bomb towards the end of the movie), and despite the PG-13 rating, this is definitely the darkest film of the franchise, and the closest to a full-on R-rated Wolverine movie that we’re ever likely to get. In a nice touch of authenticity, the supporting cast is mostly filled with Japanese actors, including Japanese star Hiroyuki Sanada (who once starred with Michelle Yeoh in a great HK action flick called ROYAL WARRIORS), and models Tao Okamoto and a scene-stealing Rila Fukushima getting the meatiest, most important parts. Former Bond villain, the Korean Will Yun Lee, is on board as one of the (many) antagonists, with Svetlana Khodchenkova rounding out the cast as the sexy, seductive Viper, a toxicologist in the employ of Yashida. Here and there, Mangold throws in the occasional reference to classic Japanese cinema, with a few nods to Akira Kurosawa, in particular Logan’s early, YOJIMBO-like, slovenly appearance (with him even being called a Ronin- just like Toshiro Mifune’s character was in that classic). It’s a nice touch, and gives the film an interesting, unique flavor, as does the score by Marco Beltrami. Mangold’s definitely no hack, having directed COPLAND, WALK THE LINE and the underrated 3:10 TO YUMA remake, and he does a really good job with THE WOLVERINE, to the extent that if they do another solo adventure for the character, it would be nice to see him back in the director’s chair. However, before that happens we’ve got the epic DAYS OF FUTURE PAST on it’s way, and if you want a taste of what’s in store for next summer, you’d be well advised to stay through the credits. Even without that icing on the cake, THE WOLVERINE is a really solid addition to the franchise, and a nice solo action vehicle for Jackman. It’s definitely NOT trying to be X-MEN 4 (despite following the chronology set by the third) and manages to be it’s own thing. I liked it a lot, and I’m confident most of the fans will feel the same way.

Glenn DanziG Interview

By: Scotty Brilliant

That’s badass… “Yea, I don’t know if we’re gonna do this anymore. It’s pretty much I think the last time. Once this 25th anniversary tour is done, I gotta concentrate on other stuff. This is cool and it’s always a lot of fun having Doyle on stage. But after this, I think it’s time to move on.” Wow, so for fans this is the last time they’ll see you guys all together… “I think so, probably. I mean there is talk of doing a couple of legacy shows in Europe, but that’s not here in The States.” You guys will be kicking off your US dates at the Sands Event Center on August 13. Being a NJ native, like myself, is playing for an east coast audience different than anywhere else? “Each place has its own vibe. LA is a little different than New York. But I have to say, America in general, is much different than Europe. Touring is a pain the ass over there. Here in America you have just crazy, massive, violent pits. And in Europe, they’re just starting to get pits. This last time we were in Sweden at Metaltown, there were actually pits going on. It was great. (laughs) We felt at home.”

Last week I got the opportunity to do a phone interview with punk legend Glenn Danzig. The following is an excerpt from our chat. You can listen to the full interview on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ScottyBrilliant. Mr. Glenn Danzig, thank you for calling in. How’s the 25th anniversary tour going so far? “It’s pretty crazy; I’m actually leaving for Europe in a couple days” Who had the idea for the 25th anniversary tour? “Uhhh…Me. (laughs) I thought it was a cool idea. We were gonna do something with (Rick) Rubin but I don’t know if he has a real label anymore. So I just decided to do it on my own, without him.” Sometimes you just gotta do it yourself… “Yea, I don’t wait for people, you know.” (Laughs)

It’s awesome that Doyle’s back on tour with you. Who are some of the other special guests that will be joining you on stage? Ummmm….Doyle. (laughs) It’s basically Danzig comes out…it’s me, Tommy, Victor on guitar, Johnny Kelly on drums and Steve Zing on bass. And then Doyle comes out later, and we just fly into a Misfits set.

You’re last release was in 2010…I read that you guys are gonna be working on new stuff when the tour ends. Is this still the plan? “Yea. I’ve got my covers record about to come out. I am doing a new deal with distribution so hopefully it will come out before Christmas. And then, yea, we’ve already started working on new Danzig stuff.”

You been in the scene for quite a while, I’m sure you’ve seen some changes in the industry. Punk music is a little bit different than it was back in the day. Do you like the way it’s going? “No, (laughs) there is no punk music anymore. The bands that played it back in the day did a great job, but the newer bands that call themselves punk…they’re not punk. They don’t have the attitude. It’s like somebody’s idea of punk.” I read that you’ve been doing martial arts for a quite a while now. Are you a fan of MMA? Do you watch UFC? “Yea, I started doing Muy Thai back in the late 80’s and then I switched to Jeet Kung Do probably in ’92. I’m not a big fan of the UFC, but I like Vitor Belfort. I’ve seen some JKD principles in there.” I know you won’t have much time before your show at Sands, but if you’d like to stop by and make a surprise visit at Hammer Training and Fitness in Allentown, I’m sure the guys would love to have you out there. “Actually a friend of mine does the grappling stuff and he actually took me out to meet Gene Lebel. I got him to sign one of my old Gene Lebel books from the 60s. He was a really cool guy.” If you weren’t a rock star, you’d be what right now? “Uh…dead. (laughs)” Awesome man, good luck with the rest of your tour, thanks for calling in... It was a pleasure to talk to you. “Thanks man.” Danzig’s 25th Anniversary tour will be at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center on August 13th. You can purchase tickets through our “Concerts” page at 107thebone.fm.

Page 16

You have a couple of weeks in between the tour. Are you at home relaxing now? “No. (laughs) I’ve been crazy working. I run about five different companies, so I’m always busy.”

Did you guys plan to kick off your US tour in Bethlehem, or is that just how it worked out? “That’s just how it worked out. I know that we played Allentown a while ago, but I don’t think I played Bethlehem since the Misfits. I think it was called the 4th Street Saloon. We played two nights and did two sets a night.”

Any time frame? “Nah, you know how I am. When it’s done, it’s done.”

When Avenged Sevenfold takes to the Musikfest Sands Steel Stage on Aug. 11, there will be fireworks on stage and above as the band helps bring the festival to a thunderous close.

was listed by Spotify as Number Two on its Top 10 most viral tracks recently. The Avenged Sevenfold concert at Musikfest is one of only a handful of dates the group is performing this summer before embarking on a major U.S. tour in the fall. The band, which toured the world nonstop in 2010-11, has achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold awards for album sales in nearly a dozen countries and sold out arenas the world over while headlining some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious music festivals. The group achieved worldwide success with its platinum 2005 breakthrough City Of Evil, which featured the wildly popular single “Bat Country.” In 2007, Avenged Sevenfold’s self-titled album debuted at Number One on the Billboard Alternative, Hard and Rock charts, and Number Four on the Billboard Top 200 album charts while spawning the singles “Almost Easy,”“Afterlife” and “Scream.” In 2012, the band also made an unprecedented appearance as characters in the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 video game, which went on to become the biggest selling video game of all time and featured the group’s song, “Carry On.” Opening the Avenged Sevenfold concert are Fight or Flight and Mindset Evolution. Fight or Flight, formed by Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan, released its debut album, A Life by Design?, on July 23. The Avenged Sevenfold concert is just one of the 500-plus shows at Musikfest, set for Aug. 2-11 in Bethlehem. Other Sands Steel Stage concerts include Skillet with Thousand Foot Krutch Aug. 4, Frampton’s Guitar Circus with Peter Frampton & B.B. King Aug. 5, George Thorogood and the Destroyers Aug. 6, Darius Rucker Aug. 9 and Ke$ha Aug. 10. While Musikfest’s fireworks light up the skies over Bethlehem starting at 9:45 p.m., Avenged Sevenfold will be performing its chart-topping hits as well as songs from its new album, Hail To The King, set for an Aug. 27 release. Produced by Mike Elizondo, Hail To The King is the follow up to Avenged Sevenfold’s 2010 release, Nightmare, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Album, Hard Rock and Digital charts. The first single from the album, “Hail to the King,” has been receiving major airplay throughout the country and

“As a musician, he has a killer insight into music and he knows how to get a lot of musicians together. He has the most drive of anyone I’ve worked with and it’s become more like a family in the band. ” says Dan Vosk when referring to his friend and bandmate Mike Scala who (with his band) is set to perform at Musikfest in August. I’m not immediately convinced, however after speaking to the Brooklyn native who grew up loving Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana in a family that was unable afford music lessons, but has since toured 13 countries 150 cities and played the world’s first concert off Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand, I start to get the idea.

I found a drummer and then I ended up finding my sax player, Marcus Miller, on the street. Now Dan and Marcus are some of my best friends. I look for good people before I look for good musicians. Could you elaborate on what you mean by similar views and goals? I wanted to create something that could make a positive impact on people’s lives in a positive way; like when you’re happy or sad what’s the first thing that you do? You go and listen to some music that makes you think of a happier time. And the other side of that is having a hands-on impact on people’s lives. I really want to make a difference on a big scale and help kids that are in need and give them opportunities that I never had. So I wanted to find people who could embrace those goals through music.

How did you get into music? Music was a big part of my upbringing, but I was a black sheep since I was the only part of my family that ended up playing something. My family, we couldn’t afford lessons or anything. My mom How would you describe your music? was a single mom and there were three of us. It’s a cross between The Script meets Dave Matthews I grew up in Brooklyn and there wasn’t much with a dash of One Republic. It’s indie pop rock. opportunity, but I wanted to learn how to play the guitar and I got a beat up Where would you like to see “I heard about Musikfest when we were playing guitar from a friend and the group in the future? then taught myself how to South By Southwest, and I just heard about I do all the booking the tour play and I had been writing how great it was and how to apply and we managing the production, lyrics since 8 or 9 {years were fortunate for ArtsQuest to select us. “ pretty much everything from old} then taught myself to sing and just did it from there. the ground up, but I would really like to see us find some representation and take things to the next level. You were a solo artist then formed I would like to do another world tour and I would like a band. How did you do that? to work with some other artists in our genre and play I was solo for 7 ½ years. I went through many different Madison Square Garden and get to the point where bands trying to find people who are as passionate we can support ourselves and give back to other about music as I am, but I couldn’t find those people through music once we can get to that level. people who shared similar views and similar goals. So I just decided to stay solo and toured. How did you get involved with Musikfest? Before that, I played around college. I studied I heard about Musikfest when we were playing abroad in Australia and played local gigs and South By Southwest, and I just heard about caught the eye of one of the members of the how great it was and how to apply and we John Butler Trio and did some work with them. were fortunate for ArtsQuest to select us. I got to see how they worked and I really wanted to make a band. I was tired of not being able to Check out the Mike Scala Band find solid guys and not have that family thing. ZODIAC

ARIES (3/21 – 4/19) Your usually limitless supply of enthusiasm and energy may run short as the week begins. Take time to recharge and choose with care the direction of your efforts. From Wednesday through Friday, fresh vigor is on the way, and you’re likely to say exactly what’s on your heart and mind. Your passion might take someone -- maybe even yourself -- by surprise now. Keeping relationships in balance requires attention this weekend. Are you ready to compromise? How much are you willing to give? Whether it’s family, friends or a more romantic connection, some questions are up in the air.

LIBRA (9/23 - 10/22) Whether you’re sharing an opinion or just your sandwich, make a conscious effort to include others at the beginning of the week. The universe will respond to your generosity and thoughtfulness. From Wednesday through Friday, your intellect and your feelings are operating in tandem in a brilliant way. Look at all sides of a situation (work, personal or both), finding the angles and the options you’ve been blind to until now. And aren’t you sentimental this weekend? To process it, send a sweet note (and maybe a photo or poem) to an old friend, or watch a sappy movie with a new one.

TAURUS (4/20 – 5/20) Jealousy is a major player on Wednesday and Thursday, but as long as you’re aware of the possibility, you can avoid the worst of it. Even if you’re not committed in any way, shape or form, you might still experience a twinge of green when you see the right person speaking to the wrong person. Continue with the cautious behavior midweek, as most people are more sensitive to slights. Finally, your good energy starts to kick in on Friday, and you should be sure of yourself and others through the weekend.

SCORPIO (10/23 - 11/21) Your inner strength is obvious early this week, and that alone makes you ten times as attractive as usual. You may feel the urge to sweep someone off their feet, and they are unlikely to complain much when you do! You’re all too likely to be swept up yourself a bit midweek, which could lead to dangerous flirting or a complete abandonment of responsibilities unless you’re watchful. Things return more or less to normal over the weekend, and you should find everyone (including yourself) is in a good, if quiet, mood.

GEMINI (5/21 – 6/21) The stars augment your powers of observation and understanding now, so whether it’s a work issue or a personal matter, you can expand your knowledge exponentially. From Wednesday through Friday, change and improvement are all around, especially in relationships. Clear those lines of communication, and open up your heart and mind. A challenge awaits you this weekend. To prepare, do what grounds you, and you’ll be more than equal to it. CANCER (6/22 – 7/22) From Wednesday Through Friday your softer, sensitive side may be less apparent than you think as the week begins. Let those around you know about your needs and feelings, especially if those feelings are hurt. Be proactive about creating some good energy. Now’s a great time to find a solution -- think about a good trade-off or an inventive compromise -- with a certain someone. If you have an action-packed plan for this weekend, well, you might want to scale back. While social engagements and projects beckon, you deserve some rest and relaxation, too.

Page 26

LEO (7/23 - 8/22) Give your extroverted side a couple days off as the week begins. That’s when the stars will send you a golden opportunity to delve into things in a quieter yet very productive way. Reach out in family matters, too. Expect more exciting, action-packed times from Wednesday through Friday. Your always-bountiful charisma is even more apparent now, and sharing what’s on your mind gets things going in a big way! When the weekend comes, downplay your own angle and inquire into the perspectives of others. You’ll learn some rather interesting stuff this way. VIRGO Keep your natural skepticism at a healthy level as the week begins. Sure, ask questions, but don’t let unfounded (as yet) emotions carry you away before you get some answers. From Wednesday through Friday, you’re probably hearing the call of something bigger and better than what you’re currently involved in. This, too, merits some serious investigation. Don’t be afraid to stick your neck out to ascertain the possibilities. You’re definitely catching eyes this weekend -- the stars are sending you extra powers of attraction. Whatever will you do with them?

SAGITTARIUS (11/22 - 12/21) From Wednesday through Friday, you’re back in your happy-go-lucky stride, and that confidence in your step guides splendid stuff to your path. Those around you can sense you’re ready to say yes and see the potential. For a great date or just fun with friends this weekend, find a free outdoor concert, lounge in the park or take a nighttime stroll. Casual and low budget are perfect now. Begin the day on Monday and Tuesday with a little meditation, yoga, a workout or just a calm walk. You have something to process, so be proactive about finding quiet headspace to do it in. CAPRICORN (12/22 - 1/19) A friend, your partner or even your boss has a very helpful angle when it comes to making a choice as the week begins. Getting input shows your smarts, not weakness. From Wednesday through Friday, the stars say to look to the future and get specific about what you want to do and how you’ll do it. How’s that savings account? What about that personal goal or that relationship? Find action steps you can take, now and later. Then clear the decks for some hot stuff this weekend. Others -- maybe someone in particular -- can’t help but pick up on your undeniable energy. . AQUARIUS (1/20 - 2/18) Group energy is vital to your romantic feelings on Wednesday and Thursday -- if you haven’t already, you’d like to see how your sweetie deals with your friends or family. It may be a good time to throw a party or host a dinner together. You’re not sure how to interpret messages you get over the weekend. Let them sit for now. You’re a bit conflicted about how to proceed as you start the week, but that situation won’t last forever. It is a good time for you to think things through and sort out your feelings before you have to take any major steps forward. PISCES (2/19 - 3/20) Make sure you’re getting credit where it’s due as the week begins. There’s a chance that good energy coming your way could be diverted. Call some positive attention to yourself. From Wednesday through Friday, your consciousness is expanding; you’re seeing the connections and possibilities where others can’t. Present your vision eloquently, and they’ll love it. You may want to let someone else take charge of the plan this weekend -- choose someone whose mood suits you so you’ll be sure to enjoy the ride.

She believes the added costs are trivial compared to the beneficial impact, as tattooing is a service that involves public health. “Licensing cuts down on the amount of people who are tattooing out of their kitchens,” remarks Hurwich.

Body art is a permanent mark and she likes to treat it with the reverence it deserves. Occasionally, a customer wants a tattoo that Hurwich thinks they’ll regret. “If someone is conflicted, or waffling, I’ll say go home and think about it,” she says. “I’m not a subtle individual. I’ll diplomatically suggest and either guide them in another direction or give them new perspective. I’ll ask what are your reasons for wanting this? And if they convince me, I’ll do it. After all, this is customer service business.”

Bullshit A farmer goes in half with a friend to buy a bull so he can increase his stock. A couple of weeks later the friend comes by to see how his investment is doing. The farmer complains that the bull just eats grass and won’t look at the cows. His friend suggests that a veterinarian have a look at the bull. The following week his friend returns to see if the vet helped. The farmer looks delighted: “The bull has taken care of all my cows, broke through the fence, and has even serviced all my neighbor’s cows! “Wow,” says his friend, “what did the vet do to that bull?” “Just gave him some pills’” said the farmer. “What kind of pills?” asked his friend. “I don’t know, but they sort of taste like peppermint.” Nurse Jenny Nurse Jenny Two doctors were in a hospital hallway one day complaining about Nurse Jenny. “She’s Two doctors were in a hospital hallway one day complaining about Nurse Jenny. “She’s incredibly dumb. They were about to have sex when the girl stopped. “I really should have mentioned this earlier, but I’m actually a hooker and I charge $20 for sex.” The man reluctantly paid her, and they did their thing. After a cigarette, the man just sat in the driver’s seat looking out the window. “Why aren’t we going anywhere?” asked the girl. “Well, I should have mentioned this before, but I’m actually a taxi driver, and the fare back to town is $25...” Pay Back! A man went into a store and began looking around. He saw a washer and dryer, but there was no price listed on them. He asked the sales person “How much are the washer and dryer?” “Five dollars for both of them,” the salesman said. “Yeah right, you’ve got to be kidding me!” the man replied sarcastically. “No, that’s the price,” the salesman said, “Do you want to buy them or not?” “Yeah, I’ll take them!” the customer responded. He continued to look around and saw a car stereo system with a detachable face cassette player, a CD changer, amplifier, speakers, and subwoofers. “How much?” he asked.

Page 36

“Five dollars for the system,” the salesman answered. “Is it stolen?” the guy asks. “No,” said the salesman, “It’s brand new, do you want it or not?” “Sure,” the customer replied. He looked around some more. As the salesperson is ringing up the purchases, the man asked him, “Why are your prices so cheap?” The salesman said, “Well, the owner of the store is at my house right now with my wife. What he’s doing to her, I’m doing to his business!”
