Jonathan has 25+ years of sales experience and extensive knowledge in construction and land development. A luxury property expert and licensed Broker, he earned his B.S. in Urban Development from GSU. He served as 2012 President of the LCBR and is currently VP. He’s chaired the MLS Committee for several years, as well as serves on the Greene Country Planning and Zoning and serves as Chairmann of Planning and Zoning for Citizens Involvement Committee

A native of the Lake Oconee area, Alyce previously worked in the dynamic software industry as Project Manager on various Pharmaceutical account teams. She received her B.S. in Consumer Sciences from UGA and is also a registered Georgia Real Estate Appraiser. She currently serves as Chair on the LCBR MLS Committee Board. Their son is a student at Lake Oconee Academy, where Alyce served as 2012 Parents’ Association President.

Steve Hepler, Buyer Specialist, spent over 35 years in sales, marketing and management in the consumer-packaged industry with worldwide corporations, including Gillette. He and his wife, Hollie, relocated to Reynolds Lake Oconee from Atlanta to immerse themselves into our wonderful community. Steve is passionate about people, real estate, and bringing these two together.

Carol Heppner, Buyer Specialist, has a B.A. from Davidson College and spent over 30 years in technology sales management for Nortel and Siemens. Carol and her husband, Kevin, moved to Reynolds Lake Oconee in 2011. Carol’s area knowledge and patient demeanor make her the consummate Buyer’s Agent. Their daughter is a junior at Lake Oconee Academy, where Carol was an assistant girls’ basketball coach.

Lisa Jones, Buyer Specialist, has over 20 years’ experience in the mortgage industry. An avid water enthusiast, Lisa has over 30 years’ experience in boating. ‘ZESTIMATES’ ACCURATE? Online pricing methods are a popular tool for home-seekers, but are they dependable?

Are you thinking of selling your real estate?

If so, one of the first questions to answer is, “What is my property worth in today’s market?” And, if you’re buying, you’ve most likely seen “Zestimates” or other online property value estimates as you cruise the internet looking through listings. Use caution when relying on these valuations as they can be far from correct in some markets. Some real estate markets, such as Lake Oconee’s, have a microcosm of their own and the algorithms used by these types of sites do not produce an accurate valuation. Many times, these numbers miss the mark on the property’s worth, which will ultimately be a detriment to the Seller. Overpriced properties languish on the market and many times sell for less than if price right from the first day it’s listed--when Buyer interest is at its highest. On the flip side, if the valuation is too low because details of a property were not considered, then the Seller is leaving money on the table.

These online estimates can be useful in determining a ballpark value, but certainly not to a specific dollar, as they suggest.

Hire a local and experienced real estate agent to educate you on your specific market. Have them pull comparable data and ask questions about different areas, amenities, etc. Or, find a local Appraiser and pay for an official appraisal report of your property.
