Using the motto "We talk about the future", the gathering focused on the progress achieved in the municipality in recent years, as well as the many exciting projects that are planned for the future.

The mayor and mayoral candidate José Manuel Butrón Sánchez, gave an account of the work carried out throughout the 2019-2023 legislature, highlighting the milestones achieved in terms of training, culture, sports, social services, personnel, investments and the municipal accounts. The government team said that "no one was left behind" during these four "difficult" years due to the ravages of DANA, the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's war in Ukraine.

Butrón highlighted the healthy and economic solvency of the municipality, a situ-

Montesinos Mayor Praises Cllr Ana For Her 24 Years Of Service

By Andrew Atkinson

Los Montesinos mayor Jose Manuel Butron has praised the town's Councillor Ana Belén Juárez Pastor for over two decades of service.

"Ana has been a Councillor for 24 years. We have spent so many years together as colleagues, that it's easy for me to talk about her," said Mayor Butron.

"She is a person with a great vocation for public service, a feminist, with her great achievements in the municipality in the field of sports, one of her great passions," he said.

"The town is now recognised for its sports and hiking trails. "Her great capacity for work has been demonstrated in all of her departments, and in all of them she has always had an interest in creating new opportunities for the development of the town," he said.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION TELL C’S TO REMOVE BILLBOARD OF AIX

Ciudadanos in Orihuela, has ben told to remove an advertising hoarding of José Aix in front of the Miguel Hernández school, with the words "Aix the future begins today. José Aix the mayor of an extraordinary Orihuela", also carrying the Ciudadanos logo. The electoral board says that they consider the hording portrays a message with electoral connotations.

A complaint from the PP said that it violates the law that establishes that "the contracting of electoral advertising can only be carried out in the 15 strict campaign days".

The dissemination of information about rallies and the presentation of candidates is allowed but they say that after examining the poster, the electoral board determines that no reference is made to either a campaign presentation or rally.

A similar billboard featuring an image of the mayor Carolina Gracia was also taken down in Orihuela Costa last month.

ORIHUELA TOWN HALL is beyond broken. But it is not your typically run Spanish town hall, it is in a league of it's own, absolutely unique. From our unelected mayor downwards, it is appallingly managed by a group of people who are paid extremely well to serve the general interests of the public across the whole of the municipality, rather than the selfserving interests of themselves, which is what we have unfortunately seen during the current legislature. We very much doubt that there is another City Council that as quite as inefficient or disorganised as that in Orihuela!

But is it just inefficiency and a lack of organisation, or is there something more?

We constantly hear of contracts not being paid, vehicles being driven without insurance, beaches without beach bars, services and toilets, a multitude of unfulfilled promises.

Make a different choice, an independent choice. Make history. Be part of history.

A never-ending list that makes it impossible not to be suspicious. Surely no town hall could be this incompetent.

We have seen its mayors and its councillors systematically prosecuted. Our previous Mayor Emilio Bascuñana still waiting to appear in court for alleged embezzlement. We have 2 Ciudadanos Councillors wait-

San Fulgencio Pp President Resigns Citing Lack Of Support

The president of the PPin San Fulgencio, MarÌa ConcepciÛn GarcÌa Baeza, has relinquished her office and her membership of the party accusing the group of failing to provide her with support. She had been leading the Partido Popular in the municipality for four years, although only officially for ten months.

In her resignation letter she said ìOne of the primary functions associated with my role as local and election chairperson has not been fulfilled, nor have I been allowed to have a say in the decision-making, both with the campaign, and the electoral the list.

ation that, "allows Los Montesinos to have confidence for the future."

In announcing the electoral list the mayor said that it combines "experience, youth and commitment to continue making progress in the municipality".

New names include Natalie Anne Hayes (British who lives in the town), Isabel García (a nurse by profession and member of the local women's football team) and José Ángel Vallejos (a local musician). The list also includes five councillors from the current government team.

PSOEcurrently holds 7 of the 11 seats.

ing to answer charges, and now the new PP candidate for mayor, Jose Vegara, is to be tried for tax evasion and false documentation.

But we must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is now time to restore the precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

There is no more sitting on the fence, what we are being represented by is lamentable. It is time to make a real change.

We can’t tell you who to vote for, but we can tell you that you deserve to be represented by a party that puts the interests of the public first. Break the cycle and surround yourself by good people.

As of Monday, I was still unaware of the composition of the list, although I was aware that it had been presented to the electoral boardî.

She further stated that she has not received the necessary information to be able to carry out her role effectively, neither has she felt the support and gratitude that she expected. GarcÌa Baeza had previously been included on the electoral list at number three but, for reasons of which she says she is not aware, she has now been removed.

Occupational Centre for People with disabilities proposed by Sueña

Torrevieja does not have a public residence for people with intellectual disabilities, so affected families must pay high fees in private residences or wait for a place in a nursing home.

Likewise, many of the people affected by the death of their main caregiver are helpless and alone, so it is a priority to create a residence for people with such disabilities where they can receive the necessary care and attention.

Pablo Samper, candidate for mayor of Torrevieja, proposes "the creation of an occu-

Ciudadanos Torrevieja – a list that is "productive and beneficial"

The Ciudadanos candidate for Mayor of Torrevieja, Carlos Hurtado, has published the electoral list featuring a candidacy made up of 14 women and 11 men.

pational centre within the residence for people with intellectual disabilities and thus also cover the necessary work for the labour inclusion of these people."

“In our Municipality we only have associations in charge of such work, and in this way we would give greater coverage to this sector of the vulnerable population”, he said.

Samper states that "Torrevieja does not have a public residence for people with intellectual disabilities, so the affected families must pay high fees in private resi- dences or, as an alternative, wait for a place in a nursing home, the latter not being an ideal place to meet the different intellectual needs, physical, occupational and leisure that are required".

Likewise, many of the people affected, when their main caregiver dies, are helpless and alone, so, from Sueña Torrevieja we are forced to establish as a priority the creation of a residence for people with intellectual disabilities where they can enter and receive all the necessary care and attention.

Melina Martín, number 3 of the candidacy of Sueña Torrevieja, adds " that the creation of these facilities would ensure the following needs: pre-work occupational activities, training and career guidance, training in autonomy, therapy, rehabilitation, care, leisure and free time, among others".

Martín adds that "it is equally necessary to create this centre where occupational therapy services and personal and social adjustment can be ensured, that is, to prepare the person with disabilities to face the demands of daily life and work."

Samper concludes by stating that "the implementation of a residence and occupational centre would also create jobs in different trades and cover the needs of these families in the short, medium and long term."
