Jennifer Johnson sent in this photo of her boys and herself. She says she and her husband, David, have been married for a little over three years and he "chose to be a dad to two amazing boys when he didn't have to, and then blessed me with another little guy." The boys are Taylor (16), Lane (9), and David Jr (almost 2). Jennifer says she couldn't pick just one because "my heart is nigh unto bursting when I look at any one of them."

Employee faces charges in Post Office theft
Severns
Guilty plea nets 50 years A Drasco man will be spending the next 50 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to first-degree murder. Andrew J. Severns, 47, pleaded guilty in Van Buren County Circuit Court on Feb. 10 in the February 2016 slaying of Jonas Donahue. Severns told Van Buren County sheriff's deputies investigating the slaying in Shirley that he shot Donahue multiple times with a .22 caliber rifle, according to court documents. Severns said he had been thinking about killing Donahue for a couple of years. Severns also told deputies he drove Donahue from Cleburne County to Van Buren County because he preferred to be incarcerated in Van Buren County, the documents show. Severns was sentenced Friday as a habitual criminal, having been previously convicted of sexual assault in the second degree and being a felon in possession of a firearm. His sentence was 600 months; according to prison intake papers, his release date is Feb. 14, 2066.
A call to authorities about an armed robbery at the Fairfield Bay Post Office wasn't what it first appeared to be, according to authorities. On Saturday, February 11, 2017, Fairfield Bay Police received a report that an armed man had entered the Post Office just as it was opening and had re-
strained the on-duty employee. It was reported that the man had stolen numerous money orders and cash. Investigators from the Fairfield Bay Police Department, the Arkansas State Police and the United States Postal Inspector’s Division immediately began investigating. The investiga-
tion revealed that no armed robbery took place, but instead, the report was an attempt to mislead authorities as to the true nature of the theft, according to a statement from Fairfield Bay Police. Information and evidence led to the recovery of most of the money orders, as well as the specialized machinery used
to imprint the money orders. Stolen cash and stamps were also recovered. The total amount of stolen items is listed as approximately $16,000. Two people, Russell Clint Basinger, 32, and Kristi Holliday, 32, both of Fairfield Bay, were identified as being part of the theft and both will have felo-
ny charges pending in federal court, according to the police statement. Holliday has apparently posted an apology and confession on Facebook. In the posting, she calls her actions a "dumb mistake," and blames an addiction. She says she is prepared to deal with the consequences.
Suspect caught in Oklahoma Law enforcement agencies are investigating a possible link between stolen vehicles and store breakins. On the evening of Feb. 6, a silver Dodge pickup was reported stolen from the Van Buren County Road Department yard. Later that evening, Conway County deputies spotted the pickup and began pursuing it. They lost sight of it, but it was reported seen again

Bill increase
Many of the sanitation companies in the county are raising their rates, citing an increase in cost to them. Solid Waste director Craig Fisher confirms that this is the final year of an increase the county has been paying since January 2015 to the Morrilton landfill. The increase has been 10 percent per year. Sanitation com-

Van Buren County deputies located the vehicle traveling east on Highway 9 and began to chase it on County Line Road in Van Buren County. After a short pursuit, deputies reported the vehicle stopped in
the middle of County Line Road and the driver fled into the woods. A search for the driver of the vehicle included Van Buren and Conway County deputies, Arkansas State Police, the Clinton Police Department, Arkansas Game and Fish, and Arkansas Department of Correction K-9 tracking unit. The
panies now pay the county $63.90 per ton.
