What motivates you in the morning? The thought of all of our orphaned pets waiting for their forever homes fills me with a profound sense of purpose each morning, igniting my motivation to make a positive impact in their lives. The promise of a brighter future for our pets drives me to start each day with enthusiasm and compassion.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? Do not let the challenge hold you back from achieving the end result. What motivates you in the morning? Every morning is a new beginning and a new chance to make a positive impact on people’s lives around me.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? I believe that genuine failure only occurs when you don’t make every effort to attain your goal. By taking every possible action, even if the outcome isn’t as expected, you gain invaluable lessons from the experience. I had a quote as the background of my phone for when things got difficult that reads: “When you feel like quitting, remember why you started.”
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? Failing is a large part of finding success. Nothing worth it comes easy and it takes many attempts in order for the end result to be meaningful.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? Brandy, our beloved childhood dog who had an aversion to strangers, has served as my guiding light in understanding the complexities of canine behavior. She may not have been a perfect match for most families but knowing that she was for our family has inspired me to help other dogs like her find the love and understanding they deserve.

What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? The most important thing I’ve learned is the importance of practicing a variety of self-care activities to strengthen my mind, body and soul. Whether it’s journaling, reading a book, watching a movie, walking in the sunshine or laughing over a meal with loved ones, I’ve found that selfcare activities, especially after difficult experiences, are the best way to reflect, refine and remain resilient.
If you could have a conversation with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask? I lost my father in 2019 and to me, he was larger than life, a historical figure. As a diplomat, my father’s contributions guided, funded and helped many people from many countries to achieve a higher standard of education. He instilled in me and my siblings that advanced education is the key to a successful future. If he were still alive, I would ask him how he managed to put aside his own interests to prioritize those of others.
What motivates you in the morning? Personally, my faith is what motives me every morning. At the exact moment I awake, I thank God and the universe for another day on our beautiful blue-green earth. Professionally, its Kings’ 10-core values and corporate culture that inspire me. Not only do they motivate me, but they also drive my performance.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? As the son of a diplomat, one of the most difficult and important lessons I’ve learned came from traveling to and living in different countries. Adapting to new cultures was tough because each destination had its own unique way of life and traditions. Through this, I discovered that despite our differences, we all seek peace, happiness and respect. Moreover, I learned that by offering these qualities to people around the world, you are most often met with the same in return.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? I was taught at an extremely young age to never give up on my dreams. This means, I am willing to fail as many times as I must and for as long as it takes before finally reaching the ‘treasure.’ The way I look at it is, time will pass by anyway. It’s the journey that prepares us for the destination: trial and error, humility and determination will get me to where I want to be. I am also incredibly fortunate to have the support of my team. They help me continue my education. I have been recognized for my perseverance and despite obstacles from the global pandemic, I have mentors that invest in my growth and development.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? I’m willing to fail as many times as necessary to achieve success. Failure is not an obstacle, it’s a steppingstone on the path to success. Having experienced multiple failures myself, I understand that each setback had a purpose, gradually steering me toward the goal I sought to accomplish.

Laura Krauss
Jessie Lozada
Vice President, Business Banking Relationship Manager M&T Bank
Facility Manager Thalle Industries Inc.
What motivates you in the morning? My passion for helping others is what motivates me to get out of bed in the morning. Helping others is part of both my professional and personal life. At the bank, I help small businesses obtain financing to bring their own passions to life. Outside of work, I get joy from volunteering with local organizations and being an active board member of nonprofit Adam’s House, which provides grief support to families who have lost a loved one.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? What I’ve learned is to always stay positive and never give up. The lesson learned was for me to keep pushing forward no matter what you come across and to be resilient. What motivates you in the morning? What motivates me every morning is being able to wake up and see my wife, son and two daughters. They the driving force for me to keep pushing for the better and staying focus.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? “’You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.’ - Wayne Gretsky” - Michael Scott. Life is not necessarily about failures and successes. Life is measured in moments and making each moment count. If something is important to me, there is no limit to how many times I will try.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? What influenced me was seeing my parents work hard to give me and my siblings a stable upbringing. The understanding of work ethic, honor, respect and principles were thought to us at a very young age. It’s something I live by and pass on to my kids.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? The last words that my grandmother said to me before she passed were, “Keep getting 100s, Laura.” I have lived by those words ever since.

What motivates you in the morning? Getting another chance at life, another chance at making a difference and another chance at being the change that I wish to see in the world is what motivates me every morning. Waking up every day is a privilege that I try not to forget. Someone once told me that I am a survivor of my worst days, so even in my worst day I am here and I try not to take every waking moment for granted.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? Difficult experiences require us to think creatively under increased amounts of stress. I find this is when we learn the most about ourselves. There will always be difficult experiences, so accepting that these are learning opportunities allows us to handle the next challenge more effectively.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? I will always be willing to fail before I succeed because I don’t see failures as actual failures, but in fact, lessons that were designed to guide your unique journey made just for you. One of my favorite quotes by John C. Maxwell is: “Fail early, fail often, but always fail forward.” When you reprogram your perception of failure, you understand that it just a part of your path and that true success is in the journey.
What motivates you in the morning? My family is my great motivator. We have two young children who see and hear everything. It is important that they see me doing things that I love; that I am proud of my work and that I do it all in the right way. What childhood memory still influences who you are today? Our family moved a lot when I was a child. I lived in seven different cities before I settled in New York after college. This made me comfortable with the uncomfortable. This experience also made me a better private banker as I have the confidence to take on any challenge and the courage to introduce myself to virtually anyone.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? One reoccurring childhood memory was with my father. My family and I grew up with humble beginnings but no matter what, whenever my father walked by someone who may be homeless or in need, my father would give my sister and me the few dollars that he had for us to donate to that person. These memories instilled character, humility and kindness in my sister and me, which influenced the women we are today.

What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? Completing a marathon is difficult enough, but the real challenge is in the preparation leading up to race day. This entails early mornings, enduring the summer heat, managing pains and aches, while balancing work and social responsibilities. My experience training for three marathons has taught me that consistency is the key to success and most importantly, consistency doesn’t mean perfection. Mistakes and setbacks are inevitable but staying dedicated and persistently showing up every day can help you achieve almost any goal you set your mind to.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? Compassion over comprehension. You do not need to understand someone’s struggles to determine they are worthy of compassion. Everyone is deserving of compassion, especially when they’re going through a difficult time. How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? Failure and success are all about perspective. With perspective, failures are just lessons and successes are milestones in your life’s journey. With that in mind, you never really stop failing because you are always learning.
What motivates you in the morning? I’m the kind of person that wakes up at 5 a.m., even on vacation. Selfishly, I love to spend my mornings taking time for myself, which usually involves some sort of movement. Whether it’s going on a run or a walk with my dog, any form of movement is a sense of accomplishment entirely in my control. The rest of my day may go haywire or be dominated by commitments to others, but at least I start with something devoted to my well-being. Coffee also helps.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? When I was little, my mom would give rides to women and families walking on the side of the road with their strollers or groceries in hand. Almost all of them were Latina immigrants from our hometown in Putnam County, where public transportation was limited. Years later I asked my mom about it, and she said in Spanish –– “We were in their position once. Now, we can help.” As an adult, I remember these moments whenever I’m in a position to help others.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? Growing up, I had the opportunity to witness my stepdad’s unwavering dedication to his nonprofit organization, which provides support for homeless youth in New Haven. Inspired by the commitment he and his colleagues had toward the community they served, I began volunteering in high school and spent many occasions listening to the stories of others. It was incredibly humbling to be confronted with the realities and immense challenges that others face, which put my own problems into perspective. These experiences have fostered my appreciation for our diverse communities and are what motivate me to strengthen them even more. 13

If you could have a conversation with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask? If I can have a conversation with any historical figure it would be Joan Rivers. I would ask her if she thinks she would have been more successful in today’s age of streaming talk/comedy shows. Instead of being limited to network television, especially for being a pioneer among women in comedy, would she have taken more career opportunities?
If you could have a conversation with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask? If I could have a conversation with any historical figure, it would be Nelson Mandela. With my family being from Zimbabwe in southern Africa, I am deeply inspired by Mandela’s commitment to justice, equality and reconciliation. I would ask him about the challenges he faced in uniting a deeply divided South Africa and how he drew upon his experiences to lead with compassion. Mandela’s ability to navigate complex socio-political landscapes and his relentless pursuit of a just society are qualities that resonate with my own family’s aspirations and values.
What motivates you in the morning? What motivates me in the morning is going to work knowing I give my all each day and the work I am doing is producing the best results for our clients. Also, to work with the talented team. We work very collectively to have all pieces go smoothly for the event to be a success. Of course, it is very rewarding when I work on something, see the results and understand the impact it has on people, the client and our business and I feel a sense of accomplishment.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? The most important lesson I’ve learned from a difficult experience is the incredible power of resilience. Adversity has a unique way of teaching us that we possess the strength to overcome challenges and emerge even stronger on the other side. Whether it’s navigating the complexities of business, facing personal trials or addressing societal issues, resilience reminds us that setbacks are opportunities for growth. This lesson has become a guiding principle in my life, instilling the belief that with determination, perseverance and a positive mindset, we can turn adversity into a stepping stone toward success and personal growth.
What childhood memory still influences who you are today? A childhood memory that still influences who I am today is my first Taylor Swift concert in 2011. I remember a great deal of the details of that night, which showed the influence and significance of events and creating those magical moments. Her concerts have really connected my sister, my mom and me because even 12 years later we went to the Eras Tour together this past May.
What motivates you in the morning? What motivates me in the morning is the thought of my two little girls and the knowledge that, as a parent, I play a pivotal role in shaping their future. This responsibility drives me to work tirelessly, ensuring that they have access to the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. Additionally, I find inspiration in the thought of families who are less fortunate, who might not have a voice to advocate for their needs. This awareness obligates me to be a passionate advocate for change, not just for my own family but for those who need support the most. 14

What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? I have learned that life does not slow down for anyone, and it takes true courage to continue to move forward despite feeling like you may not have the strength to do so.
What is the most important lesson you learned from a difficult experience? To have perseverance and patience. Being able to push through extremely tough times and come out stronger and smarter is by far the most important thing I have ever learned. These times can seem endless, but having the patience and endurance is what will get you through. And being able to learn from these difficult times is extremely valuable.
What motivates you in the morning? The fact that our time is too limited and valuable to be wasted. What childhood memory still influences who you are today? One summer, after hours of fishing without catching a single fish, my grandfather sensed my frustration and simply told me, “Fishing is not all about catching fish.” To this day I remember these words when things are not “going my way.” When it comes to fishing and life patience, repetition and perseverance will result in success more times than not. However, when it doesn’t, you can still find joy and appreciation in the process and the people you are with.
What motivates you in the morning? I am motivated by my passion for what I do. The idea of being able to produce and create something in the physical world is extremely satisfying. Also being able to be a leader in a company that people want to be a part of, creating a safe, enjoyable and fulfilling career for so many people. What childhood memory still influences who you are today? Going to work with my dad, riding along in trucks and heavy equipment is a truly a memory that has led to my everyday as an adult. It is from those times where I began to have a real passion for trucks, heavy equipment and dirt. I was able to start operating large machines at just three years old and it was one of my favorite things to do as a child, and still is today.

If you could have a conversation with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask? I would want to have a conversation with Princess Diana. Her genuine compassion, dedication to humanitarian causes and the way she used her high-profile status to shed light on important social issues have always been inspiring. In today’s world, where social responsibility and philanthropy are increasingly important in professional endeavors, a conversation with Princess Diana could offer valuable insights into effective advocacy, public engagement and making a positive impact on society.
What motivates you in the morning? My motivation in the morning is twofold. First and foremost, to provide for my family. Secondly and equally important is to carry on the legacy that was set forth by my great grandfather over 100 years ago. I take great pride in the legacy my family has built over the years in this area. Our company has grown significantly the last 10 years and we now provide opportunities to more than 80 families in the tri-state area not including subcontractors and vendors we work with. Waking up in the morning knowing not only am I providing for my own family but also helping provide for other families highly motivates me in the morning.
What motivates you in the morning? What motivates me in the morning for professional success is a strong sense of purpose. I wake up with enthusiasm, driven by the desire to make a positive impact and achieve my goals. I find inspiration in challenges, collaboration and the opportunity to continually improve. My motivation stems from the belief that dedication and passion can lead to personal success and contribute to the success of my team and organization. What childhood memory still influences who you are today? My mom always used to say: “if you don’t ask, you don’t get.” I have always taken this advice in my personal life and in business. It is a reminder that proactive communication and the willingness to seek opportunities and answers are key drivers of personal and professional growth in my life.
How long are you willing to fail before you succeed? By embracing failure and seeing the positives of every situation, good or bad, has made me not afraid to fail. My whole life I have embraced failure as a learning opportunity to be better. There is no amount of time I am willing to fail before succeeding. I will do what it takes to succeed. All those failures along the way will teach me what not do in order to succeed. A great quote by Ryan Holiday from his book “The Obstacle is the Way” is: ‘Failure shows us the way by showing us what isn’t the way.’ What childhood memory still influences who you are today? Rather than one particular memory, an experience that shaped me into the person I am today would be my experiences playing baseball. I played throughout high school and in college at a high level. The discipline of practicing and working hard at my craft showed me that good things in life do not come easy. To be successful at something requires hard work and dedication. It also taught me how to be accountable to my teammates and ultimately be a team player. All these experiences over the years continue to influence me today.

“Richard D’Errico acquired his manufacturing skills as an apprentice while working for Harold Freeman Jewelry Manufacturing Co. from 1980 to 1988. Four years later, Salvatore D’Errico completed school and joined Richie at that same company. By 1986, Sal and Richard were ready to take on a venture of their own. Keeping the company close to home, the brothers set up a small manufacturing facility in a Bronx garage on the same block they had grown up on. With the combined efforts of Sal, Richie, and some friends in the trade, the business immediately flourished. By 1988, the partners established D’Errico’s Platinum Corp. and opened up a store front on Williamsbridge Road one year later. Today, they have 2 locations one on Central Ave. in Scarsdale and the other on East Main Street in Mount Kisco. The family business agrees that its expansion is due to the sincerity and will to satisfy their customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.”
