Ilaria Urbinati was born in Rome and raised in Paris. She started out in fashion at eighteen working for her aunt, designer Laura Urbinati, growing to become a buyer and manager for Laura’s West Hollywood boutique. From there she became the buyer and manager for Satine, where she helped transform that store into a Los Angeles hotspot by introducing brands like Stella McCar tney and Roland Mouret, while throwing events that drew top celebrities and industry tastemakers. She continued on to buyer and manager of Milk, where she again traveled to fashion weeks in New York City and Paris to secure the up and coming trends for the boutique. In fall 2008, Ilaria opened her own store, Confederacy, where she served as COO, co-owner, and buyer. The store was an instant success, and her increased demand from freelance and celebrity clientele skyrocketed. Along with her retail experience, Ilaria has achieved great success in design collaborations – including Eddie Bauer, Rebecca Minkoff, and even with Alber t Hammond, Jr. of The Strokes to create a limited edition line of suits. Ilaria’s impressive client list reflects her keen eye and unique talent. Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Evans, Casey Affleck, Armie Hammer, Rami Malek, Riz Ahmed, Joel Edger ton, James Marsden, Shailene Woodley, Lizzy Caplan, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nina Dobrev, Krysten Ritter, Hannah Murray and Jenny Slate are just a few of the celebrities who rely on Ilaria for their major press tours and photo shoots. Since establishing herself as a force within the industry, top magazines and photographers began looking to Ilaria for their shoots and campaigns.

Look back at photos of Tom Hiddleston on the red carpet in, say, 2011 and you won’t find the suiting god who stands before you today. Like so many young actors, Hiddleston wore pants that were too long and his ties were too wide. Today, though? Helping him look his best is stylist Ilaria Urbinati. She understands that when it comes to killing it in a suit, “1.) fit is everything, and 2.) it’s better to be bold than to blend in” says The Hollywood Reporter.

Ilaria is responsible for giving Malek his sartorial swag. Two days before the Divergent Premiere, Woodley teamed up with Ilaria. “If it was anyone else, I would have said no,” says Ilaria. “ She’s just a lovely human; she has a real sense of who she is and that comes out in her style.” Ilaria is responsible for transforming Shailene’s wardrobe from gangly girl to bold and beautiful. Today, no Best-Dressed list is complete without the inclusion of Woodley and a nod to her partnership with Ilaria.

EDDIE BAUER X ILARIA URBINATI Ilaria paired with the Seattle-based ver tical retailer, Eddie Bauer, in 2015 for a men’s capsule collection launched at Sundance Film Festival. Today, the two have reunited for another limited-edition capsule collection, this one for women and launching for fall 2017 at select Eddie Bauer stores and eddiebauer.com in late September. “I really wanted to collaborate with an American line that had heritage and history to get behind, and could use a bit of a reintroduction to a younger audience,” Ilaria said. “When I designed the men’s line, I kept in the back of my mind how I would translate it to women’s eventually.”

THE CONFEDERACY Star ted in October 2008 by celebrity stylist Ilaria and actor Danny Masterson, the boutique store pushed the fashion envelope in Los Angeles. At its outset, the store carried a mix of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear lines, including Etro, Azzedine Alaïa, Boy by Band of Outsiders, Etro, Proenza Schouler, Michael Bastian, Martin Margiela, A.P.C. and Rag & Bone, but narrowed its focus to men’s wear in 2011.
