JOIN OUR 2023 VOLUNTEER CREW
The inspiring and action-packed Integrity Homes Challenge Wānaka is taking place on Saturday, 18 February 2023, and we are looking for wonderful volunteers to join the amazing Crombie Lockwood volunteer crew. Once again, we will be holding this event at the beautiful Glendhu Bay.
Integrity Homes Challenge Wanaka half takes place on Saturday, 18 February, with the Puzzling World Junior Challenge on Friday 17, and the Puzzling World Intermediate and Mitre 10 Secondary Schools and Adaptive event on Thursday 16. New to our event calendar this year is the Friday night showcase in and around Pembroke Park.
The Integrity Homes Challenge Wānaka team knows volunteers are the heart and soul of the event. There are plenty of roles for volunteers of all ages and abilities from Monday, 13 February
for the week leading up to race day. Roles range from motorbike marshals to safety kayakers to aid station helpers.
As a charitable trust, the Challenge Wānaka Sports Trust is dependent on the goodwill, knowledge, skills, and valuable time of our incredible volunteers. We will provide you with food and drink and will hold a big thank you party.
Volunteering at Integrity Homes Challenge Wānaka provides an opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills and have lots of fun. The team would love to hear from you so please email Sarah, Volunteer Manager at volunteer@challenge-wanaka.com for more details or register online www.challenge-wanaka.com
The Integrity Homes Challenge Wānaka Team is super excited about the 17th edition of this fantastic festival and can’t wait to welcome you to Glendhu Bay and the Crombie Lockwood volunteer 2023 crew.

One of Wanaka’s most prestigious addresses awaits you with this 2.603-hectare (more or less) lifestyle section. As the owner’s plans have changed, this is a rare opportunity to own such a special piece of land.
There are some beautiful views of rural areas in this lifestyle section. In addition to providing 360-degree views of local farmland and mountains, the property has lush established planting, easy access to the Cardrona River at the bottom, a renowned trout fishing area, and you can cool off in one of the private swimming holes along the river during the summer months.
Children and pets will enjoy the spacious, flat area where trees and native planting already exist, and they can explore and create lifelong memories.

Kia ora Wanaka, time once again for the blue team round up of what’s been happening in your patch this past week.
We’ll kick off with property, both lost and found. With the awesome weather people have been taking advantage of it, along with the school holidays, getting out and about has lead to quite a bit of property being handed into the station. So, if you lost it, we may have it, pays to call in and check.
And speaking of the weather, just looking around will tell you it's very dry out there. Please don’t go lighting any fires or being careless with any outdoor cooking facilities or we could have a major issue on our hands. Working Saturday night, I could see some fireworks being set off. Please again I’m sure for the sake of a few Oohs and Aahs you don’t want to be responsible for a fire if one of them sets off the tinder dry grass.
Traffic matters still seem to be a major issue round the area, with multiple complaints of poor driving of not only visitors to the area, but locals who should know better. There were a couple of crashes this week where both vehicles rolled. One person thought the Albert Town Campground was a great place to do a burnout only to end up on his roof, and a second during the brief rain lost control of a small truck out at Hawea Flat and rolled after hitting a grass area. He was not sure if the truck had rolled but once pointed out, it was the only way he got grass on the roof of the cab, concluded it must have. Luckily neither were injured except for a bit of pride maybe. We appear to have opportunists roaming around now with items such as garden furniture being taken from a property in the Northlake area. Now I know it's not the Wanaka way and I’ve banged on about this before, but please try to be a bit more security conscious out there. Unlocked doors and cars are just an open invitation to unscrupulous individuals who believe they have more right to your property than you.
Online scams are still happening and can vary from straight out identity theft, to selling fraudulent or non-existent items via social media sites, to out right blackmail of individuals via the internet. When online take all safety precautions and don’t expose yourself to be taken advantage of, no matter how plausible someone may seem.
Now nothing screams get out and about in nature with the weather we are having, except if you are like me and burn if the light bulb is changed from 60 watt to 100 watt, but if you are getting out on the lake, in the hills or swimming in the rivers be careful. There have been a few SAR callouts this week for people who have gotten into trouble or injured while enjoying recreational activities out there. So, take that extra second to think your activities through, for safety’s sake and make sure everyone has an enjoyable time and get to go home.
Well, the long-range forecast seems to say we may get some rain later in the week, if we do, please remember it will make the roads slippery, so caution will be needed. We do need it but not as much as Auckland has had this past weekend. West Auckland is an area I know very well and it's sad to see so many people losing so much to flooding up there.
So until next time Wanaka, stay safe, enjoy the weather, and to parents yeah, school starts up again.

Premium property management launches in Wānaka
Bringing their brand of exceptional accommodation management to Wānaka this summer is New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Luxury Rental Homes. They manage Queenstown’s largest portfolio of exclusive holiday properties, offering everything from private lodges, waterfront houses and chic apartments to their clientele.
Long term local and experienced luxury property manager Yohann Bourdin is heading up the Wānaka service. With some of Wānaka’s most remarkable properties already under his care, Yohann is excited to be bringing the world-renowned brand to Wānaka property owners.
What is your experience in property management?
I have been working within the premium property market and in business development since moving to New Zealand 10 years ago, so owners that list with us can feel confident that their properties are being expertly managed. The luxury tourism market is booming, so it’s an exciting time for sure.
What drew you to this brand?
New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty immediately creates an expectation of superior style and exceptional service. I love that this ethos directly translates into the Luxury Rental Homes offering. For my owners it gives assurance that they are with a company that is trusted and best-in-class.
What does it mean for your clients?
Our offering is full service and custom to each owner’s needs - we promote your property through targeted
channels, and we manage bookings and reservations, client liaison (including security checks), in-person check-ins and all financial aspects. We can also be the property manager, coordinating all cleaning services, gardeners and tradespeople to make sure the owner’s asset is always looked after. And finally, we can be the concierge, creating unique experiences for our guests such as private chefs, transport, and activities.
What do you like about this role?
Not a single day is the same - every owner and every house is unique which is a great challenge. I enjoy the relationships I develop with guests and owners, which is key in this industry.
