To kick off 2021, the LoveWānaka, Supporting Local initiative is bringing you Local’s Choice Wānaka 2020 - a people's recognition for businesses and individuals in the Wānaka community. Here’s how it works. Local’s Choice Wānaka 2020 is about celebrating the incredible depth and breadth of what this place has to offer. Categories include ‘Best New Business’, ‘Best Photo Spot’, and even ‘Wānaka Local of the Year’, which are all nominated by the Wānaka community. There are several recognitions in the industries of Hospitality, Arts & Culture, Business, Services & Retail, Sports & Recreation, Health & Wellness, Community and Professional Services. "2020 was not without its hurdles and challenges, but through it all, Wānaka stuck together as a community and that should give us all cause to be proud", says Tim Barke General Manager for Lake Wānaka Tourism (LWT).
Business support organisation Ignite Wānaka is once again backing the campaign. “Part of our values is to celebrate success of our business community and we’re always looking at ways of celebrating those small wins, daily, weekly, monthly. It’s these small wins and acknowledgements that can lead to the bigger achievements”, says Executive Officer Naomi Lindsay. So, don't be shy, the nomination survey for the ‘Local’s Choice Wānaka 2020’ can be found at www.lakewanaka.co.nz/locals-choice It will take about ten minutes to complete and this is your opportunity to give your Wānaka favourites a well-earned pat on the back. The initial nomination period is running now until February 15, 2021, with final selections closing March 3, 2021. There will be a night to celebrate the nominees and Local’s Choice winners on Tuesday, March 30.
