Devlin-Quinn Talk Sport to Raise Funds for Upper Clutha Junior Rugby The Upper Clutha Junior Rugby Open Grade Team is heading to North Sydney in April. This is a new and unique experience for the boys who have been hosting Mossman Club from North Sydney for many years and now they get to reciprocate with four matches in a one week tour.

It is hoped the club will be able to send the open grade team every two years if this is successful. It has been hard work for the players as they have had to earn

$500 each through odd jobs and sales projects. And next Friday night the major fundraiser with Keith Quinn and Martin Devlin is being held in the Lake Wanaka Centre. They would love to see you there.

Next Friday 2nd March, the Upper Clutha Junior Rugby Open Grade team has its major fundraiser - “Quinn and Devlin Talk Sport� featuring Keith Quinn and Martin Devlin at The Lake Wanaka Centre. Tickets are still available - help support these future stars of the rugby field.

Early in the week an offender entered a house at night through an unlocked door. They were discovered inside by the resident who had been woken by noise. The offender dropped the items they were trying to take and ran off. The message here is clear, lock your doors. We all know Wanaka seems like a safer town than most, that is until there’s someone out there who decides to take an opportunity. Lock your doors and refuse them the opportunity at your house.

A male living locally was arrested for a number of recent thefts from vehicles. Police recovered some of the stolen items. The male will appear in court answering to his behaviour.

Search and Rescue were also involved in several incidents during the last week, most notably a paragliding accident off Treble Cone where the male was fatally injured. Our sympathies go out to his family, partner, and friends.

Most of you will have noticed that there are a number of roads being worked on around Wanaka, in particular Lake Hawea, Cardrona and the Crown Range. The speed in some of these areas has temporarily been reduced from 100km/h to 30km/h.

Please observe these speed limits as they have been put in place for a reason.

And while we’re on the topic of speed just another reminder to watch your speed around schools and school buses - you must slow down when passing school buses loading and unloading to 20km/h.
