There will be heated marquees and a bonfire on the beach to keep us all warm in the winter evening. The entertainment is being provided by the local community. Generous contributions like this just keep overwhelming Angie and Richard as they bring the celebration together. We are going to have; workshops, storytelling, astronomy, kapa haka performances from Wanaka primary students, acoustic music by some of our fantastically talented MAC students and other local youths. Two years ago Kahu Youth realised the benefits a Matariki celebration would bring to our community. This important time in our calendar is one for us all to celebrate who we are and the wonderful value we all have within ourselves and our place. The generous ongoing support of our community towards Kahu Youth has been all the inspiration and drive we needed to make this happen. Local legends Rod Bowler, Papi Cooper, Paul Tamati and Pat Pihama have all stepped up way beyond expectations to ensure this event goes off with a bang! We would like to extend a massive thank you to; Sky City Casino Queenstown, Wanaka Mediterranean Market, Wanaka Catering, Snow Park, Snow Drifta and QLDC for their support, without which we could not pull this off! Our epic celebrations begin at 4pm and run until 8pm down at the Dinosaur Park. The hangi and spit will be served at around 6:30pm. Koha is welcomed.
