Snowsports Club During the winter months WSSC is extremely active. Race Yr Mate, a free family fun event at Treble Cone, interfield races for U16 children at Treble Cone for skiers, also at Cardrona for snowboarders and skiers. International Alpine Races and the Upper Clutha Primary Schools event are all events organised locally by the Wanaka Ski and Snowsports Club members. Funds raised are distributed to the clubs young members for snowsports tuition and to our senior athletes who compete internationally. Local senior athletes Sam Lee, Fraser McDougall, Ben Richards, Hank and Finn Bilous donate their time to helping organise events for the club and young athletes. They understand how the money raised assisted them. If you can help us, please email info@ wanakasnowsports.co.nz

Fundraising another way - 2018 Freeride World Tour athlete Craig Murray has donated to the club an Alpiner X Horological smart watch created for outdoor adventurers, which he won on the FWT to help fundraise for WSSC. It is a beautiful watch, #17 of only 100 made. We are hoping the watch will gain lots of attention when we launch the fundraiser. The watch was for second place in the Freeride World Tour Finale. He finished 9th overall for 2018. Why join? Our membership and activities are very diverse. Snowsports participation, trips to other areas, socialising, biking and hiking. Wheels to Dunstan needs your help. The Wheels to Dunstan needs the use of a garage so we can house the vehicle as we have to leave the garage behind the old fire brigade building in two week’s time. We need somewhere to go where the vehicle is undercover and secure. If you can help please contact the secretary Deans on 443 8946 or 027 279 3370. Report from our chairman: In 2007 the Wanaka Rotary Club put forward the idea of a service, transporting people who were unable to drive to attend medical and specialist appointments to the Dunstan Hospital. A vehicle was purchased with financial assistance from the Wanaka Masonic Lodge,

the Marsh Trust, and Wanaka Rotary Club. Over the past 10yrs many people have used the service to Dunstan Hospital and latterly also to connect with the bus at Cromwell which takes people to Dunedin for hospital appointments. The vehicle is driven by over 54 volunteers who are all local Wanaka residents and while the service is free, we rely on the donations we receive from passengers to continue with this service.

Upper Clutha Transport, their support has been invaluable.
