Christmas Decorations When I first visited Copenhagen, I noticed that the Scandinavian style for Christmas decorations includes things you can’t necessarily get back home. Either go warm and traditional with Festive décor of reds, greens and natural wood hues or you can be ultra chic by going with the Scandinavian monochrome trend. Sleek, clean lines with black and white, concrete and marble may seem a little cold at first but the overall design sings. In most stores you’ll find an array of both styles. What you’ll notice is the large amount of candleholders available to buy. The Danes can’t get enough of them, and lit candles are a priority when it comes to hygge*. A familiar face you’ll certainly see is the little Nisse, these are elves in the form of hatted men covering their eyes, big noses and long beards. They are a part of Danish Christmas folklore and too cute not to take one home with you.

If parties, parades and getting drunk in the street sound up your alley then you won’t be disappointed. While the date itself may have passed, the beer is still around and will be served all the way up to the big day.

Ice Skating in Frederiksberg Runddel Every city these days sports a “Winter Wonderland”, a treasure trove of over-priced rides and the opportunity to skate in a forced setting. Fun though it may be, it’s not the same. Entry to the Runddel ice rink is free if you have your own skates but renting a pair will only set you back seven quid. Deer Spotting in Klampenborg Twenty minutes north of Copenhagen central station is Jægersborg Dyrehave, a massive 4.2 square mile deer park that’s perfect for wintery walks and spotting some of the most chilled and happy-to-hang deer you’re likely to meet. Now that the rutting season is over and the weather is colder you’ll most likely find the 2100 deer in groups, huddling for warmth. When we went we got ridiculously close to them and they barely flinched. Don’t despair if you don’t see any as there

So, you’ve spotted some deer, you’ve had a wander around the Christmas market in Nyhavn and you’ve been on the rides in Tivoli. The problem is you’re now completely freezing cold and utterly famished - time for some porridge! Stay with me. US election: all nighter @ JCs by Hilary Webb

With more than 350 people attending on the Facebook event, JCs was full to the brim as it hosted the US Election All Nighter for the American Studies Society and Politics and International Relations Society. Supporters for both candidates were present but Hillary Clinton’s name was heard chanted as the results came in. American Studies society president Emily Ellis said:

‘It was amazing to see so many people turn up to watch the US election results. While the result might not have been a total success it is safe to say that the event was. Both the American Studies Society and the Politics and International Relations society want to thank everyone who came, and please don’t blame us for the result!’

The American studies society are in the middle of a busy period as they recover from the election and begin their festive celebrations, starting with their Thanksgiving dinner.

A strong contender for the prestigious award of Best New Society is the Swansea University Art Society, which hosts weekly life drawing classes on Monday evenings. This event is a popular one, and is attended by regular members excited to draw a range of models stripped down and in the flesh. Interested in art? Use a mug to cut out circles of pastry. Gently shape the circles into a greased tart tin. They should fill the tin but not overreach that much. Experiment with the mug width that works for your tin. When the pastry is loaded, spoon in the jammy mixture until it’s just about level with the pastry. Bake in the oven according to the instructions on the packet. Normally 180°c for about 20 minutes. Perfect on their own or top couple of warm tarts with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for a festive treat! Happy Christmas & Happy New Year! Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!

Given the recent confirmation of a ‘Space Jam 2’ that will be starting production under the direction of Justin Lin and starring LeBron James alongside the Looney Tunes, it seems like an ideal opportunity to revisit the baffling entity known as Space Jam. I have to question what the title of the movie even means. Speaking of soundtracks though, if you want an album that epitomises everything that is the 1990s then behold ‘Space Jam’ which features hits from Spin Doctors, Salt N Pepa and R Kelly’s ‘I Believe I can Fly’.
