Taryn with Event & Company was everything I was looking for in a wedding coordinator and more. She was always on top of the details, preparing for every moment of the day in a way I wasn’t capable of doing on my own. I am most thankful for Taryn’s ability and hard work in making our wedding day the most precious memory Keith and I will ever share. The weather was perfect and everything went as expected. The happy couple was joined in marriage on May 19, 2012 at Stone Oak Ranch in Murchison, Texas. Taryn with Event & Company held the couple’s hands and planned every detail of the day perfectly. The atmosphere of celebration was infectious and nothing could keep the excitement down! The staff at Stone Oak Ranch provided a wonderful atmosphere and the beautiful décor. Pursuing Eden provided antique furniture and a photo booth as well as a candy bar for all the guests to enjoy. The reception was complete with a BBQ dinner, a variety of yummy pies and even a “bleedin’ armadillo groom’s cake!” The DJ kept the crowd on their feet and made the wedding an unforgettable event.

instead of throwing bags of rice or blowing bubbles, the happy couple invited family and friends to throw handfuls of fall leaves. as amanda and scott exited toward their getaway car, beautiful orange and red leaves were thrown in the air, paving the way for their life together.

Fall elements were purposely placed around the reception hall, as touches of wood decorated the space. each table was named after a tree and had a block of wood holding the card that the table’s name was typed on. These autumn themed table names truly reflected the spectacular nature of the fall season..

As most brides already know, your big day will be instantly enhanced, brightened and beautified by the display of flowers — from the bouquets that you and your attendants will be carrying to the boutonnieres your beau and his groomsmen will be donning. For this important event choosing a reputable, experienced florist will be essential to getting the results you’ve always dreamed of having for your wedding. It’s not always easy to find a florist that fits your personal style. But if you’re looking for a florist who can provide arrangements with a bit of dazzle and a whole lot of love, look no further than Ann’s Petals. Based in Longview, owner Andrea Gatlin said her flower shop represents her happy, friendly nature and caters to everyone for every event in life – weddings being her favorite events of all. “There’s just something so great
when we help a bride fulfill her fairytale,” Andrea said “The looks on their faces when they step inside their church or reception hall is awesome. We all dream about this stuff.” Purchasing the shop nearly nine years ago, Andrea said her floral design studio prides itself on welcoming guests and providing them with a comfortable studio environment. “I saw an ad in the newspaper that there was this flower shop for sale and, on a whim, I bought it,” she said. It may have been a whim that drove her to purchase the flower shop, but it’s the desire to create beautiful arrangements with a flair for detail that puts Ann’s Petals above the rest. It’s not only Andrea who will greet you as you walk through the shop doors; her invaluable colleagues Ashlee, Debra and Gidget are there to advise, too. Ashlee has been with Andrea since the
arrangements for weddings vary, but Andrea said Ann’s Petals has done weddings for the tightest of budgets. “We really can work with any budget,” she said. “It’s all about making people happy, and picking the right flowers. Making your dream wedding happen on a budget is important and we will make it happen.” Brides have an abundance of options to choose from in the East Texas area, but Andrea said Ann’s Petal’s commitment to customer service makes her business stand out above the rest. “Our repeat customers are proof that we really take care of those that come into the shop – we build strong personal relationships with everyone who walks through the door because we want our customers to not only feel comfortable, but also to know that we really do care about them and their special day, be it a birthday, anniversary and, yes, a wedding,” she said. “For weddings, it’s all about making the bride’s day a little brighter. Of course,” Andrea continued, “we also give the same kind of care and attention to all client needs including arrangements for newborns, parties, proms, anniversaries, birthdays, special holidays and funerals. Andrea would like to take this opportunity to thank all customers for making Ann’s

beginning and has been a trusted friend and lead designer who helps make the bride’s dream wedding details come true. Debra has been added to the design team and has settled in as a great assistant designer. Robert, their in-house delivery man, completes the team by distributing flowers with a friendly smile. “Walk in at any given moment, and you’ll be greeted with a smile and a friendly ‘hello!’ If you don’t know just what you’re looking for, we encourage you to walk back to our cooler and see for yourself,” she said. “Stepping inside the cooler, you’ll find 40 to 50 different flowers to touch, smell and make that all important wedding-color connection.” Andrea recommends brides set up a complimentary consultation with her to review their options, and they should be ready to discuss any ideas they have and colors they’re interested in. “Bring your colors, your dress, even your entire bridal party, and we’ll get as close as we can to making your ideal wedding become a reality,” she added. “Some brides just don’t know what they want for their special day, and I encourage them to come in and see for themselves what they like, what they don’t … and we’ll go from there!” The cost of bouquets and floral

Whether you are in the fast and furious stages of wedding planning or just dreaming of that special day – date nights should not be overlooked.

No matter how stressed you are from planning or from scrimping and saving for that big day, remember to take time for each other and give yourself a wedding planning break! A date night IN is always a great way to relax and it doesn’t have to be bland or boring. You can wine and dine each other just the same as you would by going out! Fondue is a great way to celebrate at home. This dish can be a romantic dinner for two or a supper for six. It is fun, easy to prepare, and really only takes a little bit of preparation work. It is also a great meal to surprise your sweetheart with, whether you are man OR woman! Fondue is a dish that became popular back in the 60’s and 70’s but dates back

as far as 1699. This yummy creation is simply a Swiss dish traditionally made of melted cheese and wine. It’s then served in a shared pot or bowl over a heat source and eaten by dipping long-stemmed forks of assorted items into the cheese. It is pretty much the most fun you can have with a meal. The sky is the limit on what you can dip in the cheese. Cubes of steak, chicken, shrimp (grilled or leftover) along with vegetables and bread make an easy, fun meal! Fondue pots are readily available and cost anywhere from $10$50. If you don’t have a traditional fondue pot, do not worry. Fondue can easily be made and kept warm in a small crockpot, or continually

Carmyn Wingrove and Frankie Himes’ anniversary is on New Years Eve, so when Frankie asked Carmyn if she wanted to go to Shreveport for their three year anniversary, she agreed! New Years Eve on the Boardwalk or at the boats celebrating their anniversary sounded great! Carmyn, her dad and Frankie had always talked about waiting until after she graduated to discuss marriage and since she still had a year left, it was the last thing on her mind. She did notice the whole way to Shreveport that Frankie was extremely quiet, and Carmyn kept asking “Are you sure you’re not upset or something?” The couple dropped their luggage off at the hotel and proceeded to a park down by the river where there were suppose to be roses in lights. (Carmyn found out later this was where Frankie was planning to propose. He was really mad that the roses were not lit up and Carmyn kept asking what the big deal was!) Finally the two headed to the boardwalk, and surprisingly, the boardwalk was closed...on New Years Eve! They had planned to eat at Saltgrass Steakhouse, which had also closed early, so instead they settled for Joe’s Crab Shack. By this time Frankie was in a better mood but Carmyn still couldn’t figure out why he was mad about the unlit roses. After dinner, they arrived at the El Dorado Casino and had to park at the very top as parking was difficult with the packed holiday crowd. Carmyn went to take a
picture of the skyline and noticed Frankie was taking forever to come around the side of the truck. He told her he had to re-tuck his shirt in (he was actually getting the ring ready). Just as they were about to walk in to where the slot machines were, Frankie said, “I’m so nervous.” Carmyn turned around to say, “It’s just gambling,” and it was then she saw the ring box. She started crying before Frankie said a word. But then he proceeded with his speech that was unbelievably sweet and then dropped to his knee, with strangers everywhere stopping to look, and said, “Will you marry me?” Carmyn said she thinks it took a few seconds for it to register and then she suddenly screamed, “Yes, of course!” Congratulations were coming from the people watching on the left and right. Carmyn then found out what Frankie’s original plans had been and how it had all fallen through, but she says the way he did it ask was absolutely perfect. Frankie had asked Carmyn’s dad, mom, and brother for permission the week before! She says, “It was the most special moment of my life and something I will never forget! I cannot wait to marry my best friend!”

It was on Black Friday morning and Kristen Lewis and Stephen Kimbro were at the mall shopping. She was headed into Bath and Body works and Stephen said he was going to Bealls. She finished her shopping and went into Bealls to look for him. Surprised, she couldn’t find him. She called his cell phone and could not reach him. She was sure he was still inside the mall but could not find him anywhere. She finally spotted him near Gordon’s Jewelers. But when she asked where he’d been, he replied he had been in the restroom. Kristen was actually on her way to Gordon’s
Jewelers to find a chain necklace to replace one of hers that had broken that week and Stephen followed her into the store. They finished their shopping and headed to the parking lot. Stephen opened her door and she got into the truck. She says she didn’t notice anything until he climbed into the truck and began filming her with his iPhone. She realized there was something behind her and she turned around found what appeared to be a ring box. Kristen was utterly amazed and surprised. Texas heat and a dash of wedding nerves is enough to make anyone sweat. The main idea for lasting make up is to minimize the oil and perspiration of the skin. Here are a few ideas on how to look cool when the heat is on.
GO GREEN There is no substitute for healthy skin. Your body is creating new cells every minute of every day. Those cells are deriving nutrients from the energy you give them, primarily through the foods you eat. Choose foods that fuel your body with vitamins and antioxidants such as fresh leafy greens, lean proteins, beans and bell peppers. Avoid inflammatory foods such has fatty meats, breads and anything deep fried. Excessive sugar can also ignite your complexion into oil production overdrive!
SKIN SET UP Start your wedding day morning with a bentonite clay based mask. This ancient beauty ingredient is usually found in powder form. Bentonite has the unique ability to absorb hydrogen from your cells and allows oxygen to fill the space. Tony used a combination of pin curls and velcro rollers to obtain the soft and sultry curls that would make any starlet green with envy. To keep the curls silky-smooth, Allen used Bed Head After Party Smoothing Hair Cream.
THE MAKEUP When creating that sultry red carpet look, Emily suggests going with a “less is more” attitude during application so as not to detract from the classy, elegant appearance. LAYING THE FOUNDATION Emily began by applying a moisturizer which not only gives the model’s skin a nice dewy finish, it helps the liquid foundation stay on throughout the day. Next, she applied foundation to the lips and eyelids.“You need to start with a blank canvas,” She explains. “The foundation gives a flawless look where any color you apply goes on true.” HIGHLIGHTING AND DEFINING Emily used a concealer (Summer Bisque by bareMinerals®) on the models brow bone and across her entire eye lid in order to brighten and make the area appear wider. Emily then applied a summer shimmer blush high on the cheekbones, right under the eyes, and across the model’s brow bone to highlight those defining areas. This drew attention to the model’s face shape, while the light-colored blush gave her a healthy glow. To add even more drama, Emily applied bronzer to a large, round brush while the model sucked in her cheeks to highlight her cheekbones. Emily then followed the line that it created, brushing the color up, down, and across the cheeks and right under the cheek bone. ACCENTUATING THE EYES “Never forget your eyebrows, because they are the frame for your eyes,” says Emily. For a brow-enhancing look Emily used light blonde/medium brown brow powder by bareMinerals® and very subtly brushed it through the model’s brows, following her natural arch and making sure the front of her brows were thicker than the outside. “For her eyes, I used Nude Beach by bareMinerals® as the all-over lid color, and Queen Tiffany by bareMinerals® in the crease, just using my brush to blend the darker color under the brow bone but slightly upward toward the outside of her eye,” Emily explained. “I also used a light shadow on the inside of her eye close to her tear duct to give that look of innocence that really made her eyes sparkle.” BOOSTING THE LASHES False lashes are a must for any Hollywood glam look, but be cautious when choosing them. Emily prefers to use subtle, natural-looking lashes that add just the right amount of volume, to create a truly classic look. Once the lashes were applied to our model, Emily added black liner to the top of the lash to help blend in the faux lashes with the model’s real ones. SHAPING THE PERFECT LIPS To complete this dazzling look, Emily finished with a classic red Hollywood lip. She started by lining the entire lip with a deep plumb liner. She then filled in the model’s lips with a color-stay red lip pen, followed by red lipstick applied using a lip brush. This gave her lips full color with added shine.
