Getting Ready For Your
BRIDAL APPOINTMENT
Now that you have your beautiful fiancé, you’ve got a gorgeous engagement ring, and you have chosen your venue, you are now going to be shopping for probably the most important dress you have EVER purchased! (No pressure…….!) Choosing your wedding gown is not just a purchase It is an experience, a happy celebratory experience. Have fun in your appointment, make the most of it, try on gowns that you know you would never choose! The choices are endless with bridal gowns therefore sometimes, rather than trying to CHOOSE a certain style, sometimes it 12
is better to eliminate certain styles. This is why your appointment can be so much fun! Just go with it. Try gowns that stand out to you and try on the one you don’t like just to humour your Grandma!! When you are left with a select few styles, the choosing becomes much easier, you feel much more confident and you have even more fun. Once you have your preferred style, then you can focus on details. Do you want lace, embellishment, beadwork or would you like a simple elegant gown? The choices are endless, and it doesn’t stop there… ! One thing you can be sure of, all of the above does not have to be done in one appointment. For any nervous brides out there, I can guarantee, as soon as you have put on your first gown, your nerves will disappear.
If I could give brides one top tip before making an appointment, it would be to think about who you would like to bring with you. There are no rules, and it is your decision. Who’s opinion matters most to you? Who’s opinion do you value? Who will be honest constructively? There can be lots of different opinions especially if there is a large group of people. Who’s opinion do you trust and want to listen too most?
I love hearing all about your proposals, there are so many different stories that we hear each day from Brides who come in to the boutique, that we actually look forward to it!
Getting readt for your appointment A few things to think about: XX When did you last have a bra fitting service? So many of us wear the wrong size bra. This can change the look of your dress if not wearing the right size. Marks and Spencer or Boux avenue do a free bra fitting service. Take advantage! XX Nude or white coloured underwear is best for trying on wedding gowns. However the choice is yours, you can wear whatever colour you like its your appointment, you are never going to offend me as I’ve seen it all! XX Feel free to bring shoes with you to try on with your dress, If you don’t, we have some here. If you do not want to try any at all on with your
gown that is also ok, when measuring you for your dream gown, we do it barefoot. XX Keep your bridal party to no more than four people if you can. Remember the priority is you! XX Please try not to wear fake tan. Bear in mind the dresses are ivory and we have great lighting in the boutique anyway. XX The appointment is a celebratory experience, be open minded and enjoy it! I hope this has given you an insight of what to expect, put your nerves at ease or even just passed the time for a few minutes if you just fancied a read! It is your special day, your decision. Choose a gown that you fall in love with and do not want to take off!
I am Clare, from Clare Suzanne Bridal. located in Liverpool. I love our boutique as it has the mysterious feel to it…. Nobody walking past can see in! When you come in, you will walk into a room flooded with lots of light and a spacious seating area where all of our gorgeous gowns will be right before your eyes. We have only one fitting room, which is a really nice size and has plenty of space for you to try different gowns. We wont be interrupted as we work on an appointment only basis, you will therefore have the boutique to yourself for an hour and a half to two hours. Your appointment will be professional but also lots of fun with a relaxed atmosphere. I always encourage brides to walk around and try different styles of dresses even if they are not keen on some of them, as you never know!
If you do want to book in for an appointment, we would love to meet you. Email info@claresuzanne. co.uk or you can call us on 0151 735 0101 www.claresuzanne.co.uk Looking forward to meeting you 13

Top Tips For Planning a
We are Kay Finlay and Damien McNamara and we are personal travel experts. We work from an office in our home, planning bespoke, tailormade holidays and honeymoons, overseas weddings, package holidays, cruises, tours and UK holidays.
HONEYMOON
we work with over 450 suppliers and have fantastic relationships with them. Unlike some of the high street agents and online websites, we are totally independent and aren’t restricted to just using one or two tour operators.

Aged 50 last year, I decided I wanted to live my dream and do something entirely different and we bought a franchise with Not Just Travel. We chose them because they are an amazing, fast growing business who give lots and lots of support to their travel franchisees. We are part of the Hays Independent Group and as such it means 16
I work in the business full time and Damien works it around his job as a train driver and is works well for us as we both bring different qualities to the business. One thing we really agree on and that is at the forefront of everything we do, is how we treat our clients. Whatever type of trip they book with us, every single one
of them is a very valued customer and we give all of them VIP treatment. Surveys show that people who book their holidays online, spend at least 14 hours researching where to spend their holidays. We take away that stress, we talk to our clients, find out what type of holidays they like, what standard of hotel they want, what facilities they want, what board they want in the hotel, what they like to do when they leave their hotel, in fact we get to know them and their likes and dislikes and then and we speak to our suppliers and research their perfect holiday within their budget. We try to get our clients upgraded, we check them in online and sort out their boarding passes. We treat them like special clients and not a name and passport number on a booking form. All clients have our mobile numbers and we look after them before, during and after their holiday. Unlike many other travel agents, we are able to arrange an online Honeymoon Gift List which allows friends and family to contribute to their dream honeymoon.

Top tips for planning a honeymoon XXStart planning early, as premium rooms and honeymoon suites book up quickly. XXDecide together what type of holiday you would like and where you would both like to go – compromise is the key. If you are looking online, be specific about what you both want or you will never be able to find the perfect holiday. XXCheck what the weather is like at the time of year you are planning on going away. XXDon’t think you have to go on your honeymoon directly after your wedding, you can always have a minimoon and have your honeymoon a few months later XXConsider using a travel agent as they will have insider knowledge on deals and discounts and will have personal relationships with hoteliers. They will also save you endless research time and can offer first-hand knowledge on destinations. XXIf you are changing your name on your passport, make sure you do this in plenty of time. It can be applied for 3 months before your wedding date. XXMake sure the hotel know you are on honeymoon as they may offer perks for honeymooners.
Kyoto Temple
Honeymoon Destinations Whilst the Caribbean, Asia and Mauritius are always popular honeymoon destinations, more unusual destinations include Kakslauttanen Igloo West Village, Finland where you can stay in a glass igloo and watch the Northern Lights from your bed, Tanzania in South Africa is the place where a wildlife safari will give you a glimpse of leopards, lions elephants, Cape buffalo’s and rhinoceros and Japan where you can visit Kyoto with its hundreds of shrines and temples, or visit one of the countries natural volcanically-warmed hot springs or spend some time in Tokyo sampling some of the finest cuisine in the world.

It is possible to use football as a wedding theme without sacrificing the style or the sophistication of your big day. With a sympathic bride and sufficient planning, there’s no reason why the day won’t be a big hit with everyone. Hotel TIA (This Is Anfield) is a family friendly meeting place located in Anfield Road, run by people with a unique network within football. The proprietor of the hotel is wildly passionate about Liverpool Football Club and kindly supplied us with lots of memorabilia and props. (We did draw the line at putting our bride in a vintage goalkeeper jersey and have her saving penalties!)

There are two bridal types within this theme, conventional and Scandinavian, as a large LFC fan base exists particularly in Norway. For the conventional wedding with a subtle nod to LFC we chose to have the groom wearing a three piece suit with a red tie complimented with a
red buttonhole. The brides bouquet contained a stunning mix of red florals. Blush pink and green florals stole the show for our Scandinavian style wedding with the bride wearing a simple, elegant foliage flower crown. Our groom wowed in a checked tweed three piece suit with pink tie and pale blush buttonhole.
23
Our beautiful models had airbrush makeup foundation and soft smoky eyes using Urban Decay’s Naked Heat pallet. Hair was wanded in soft bohemian curls and accessorised with crystal vines & foliage crowns. We dressed the room in a relaxed, rustic theme with flickering candles, old milk churns and a bespoke wedding cake adorning the top table.
24
One of the highlights of the day was the releasing of two beautiful white doves by our happy couple. The world is your oyster where themed weddings are concerned so maybe it’s time to think out of the box and kick conventional into touch!

Your headpiece is on every photograph, on your video, everyone sees it. I think your headpiece, hair and make up is a major part of your wedding. Most of all, you just love the piece you pick and everything else will fall into place.
How to Choose Your
HEADPIECE Choosing your headpiece can sometimes be as stressful as choosing your dress, is it too much? Is it going to work with the dress? Can I wear a veil? One of the biggest concerns is, if it will work with the chosen hair style. A lot of wedding hairdressers’ advice is to get your headpiece first and then take it to the trial.
How to wear the headpiece? Our hairbands are shaped to fit your head and wrapped in your hair colour so that you don’t see the band. We show you how to place the headpiece in, usually at a slight angle. This makes the headpiece sit better in your hair and also makes it much more comfortable to wear. Your wedding day is a long day and you don’t want to be worrying about your headpiece, just have it put in properly and go and enjoy your day. Hairvines are pinned into place or held with a ribbon and are really easy and comfortable to wear. Tiaras generally sit in the same place every time, just in front of wherever the volume starts in your hair.
not! A veil, in general, sits somewhere on the back of your head, depending on your hairstyle and veil type. If you want a low bun and your veil to sit under just make sure you pick a lightweight veil that will go with your dress. A cathedral veil really has to sit on the crown of your head or just to the back, to allow for the weight and so that it doesn’t pull on your hair.
What about The Veil How to Choose? At our studio, we can look at your dress, what type of hair you have and ask about your wedding and what type of headpiece that you had thought of. Sometimes bride dont know those answers yet We will show you different types of headpieces and show you how to wear them properly. Most of our pieces have the same design in different options, either a large side headpiece, small side piece, a tiara or a hairvine. When you start trying them on, you will see how easy it is to start and think of how your hair would go with it. Of course some brides come in with a definite hairstyle in mind and we can advise what would work with it, make sure that it would stay insecurely and look great from all angles.
Headpieces and veils are a match made in bridal heaven. So many girls think you can only have one or the other, absolutely
Your headpiece will usually sit more to the front so the two never meet. You can also have a headpiece at the back of your head and have the veil go either over it completely so it is just seen through the veil, which is a lovely look, especially as you go up the aisle. If you want something to go over the veil comb, then, it has to be wider than the veil Same hairstyle - different headpieces

Ceremonies of Heart and Beauty by Sandra Gilfillan
if you want a wedding that has a spiritual “feel” but is not limited to a particular religion, I will easily adapt to your wishes. As a One Spirit Interfaith Minister, it is my pleasure and privilege to serve the needs of people of all faiths and none. I will create with you a beautiful, customized ceremony that reflects your style and personality. The focus is on celebration of your love and commitment.
“We knew wanted a ‘non religious’ ceremony, We had many guests saying how much they enjoyed the service that they hadn’t experienced one like it before, truly a personalised blessing. Our service exceeded our expectations and truly was one of the highlights of our special day.” Mary & Rick
34
“Sandra was extremely accommodating and flexible in helping us plan our interfaith marriage. We were keen to ensure that both Hinduism and Christianity were prevalent given our religious backgrounds. Sandra did a fantastic job in delivering a very emotional and touching marriage ceremony to accurately capture our relationship. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!”. Evelyn & Amrit

Wedding Traditions, New & Old
CONFETTI Why do we throw confetti? Throwing things over a bride’s head has a long and colourful history. Although confetti is relatively still a new comer in the world of wedding traditions, it appears that the scattering of confetti in England was brought together by two separate customs:
2. Similarly, in the early in the 17th century,
herbs, flowers such as rose petals were scattered in the path of the bride to walk on.
Adam Joe Roberts Photography
1.The tradition of scattering confetti is
considered to have been developed from the customs of scattering wheat or rice over the couple, symbolising good luck and fertility.
Philip Antrobus Photography
Philip Antrobus Photography
By the 20th century, confetti had evolved, and manufactures produced paper discs and paper rose petals to shower over wedding couples in the same way that herbs and flower petals were scattered in the pathway of newlyweds in the earlier years. Wedding
As your wedding day approaches, you notice you are not feeling that happy spark you were expecting. Instead there’s more of a niggle, a fear, a sense of being overwhelmed by the planning and knowing all eyes will be on you! Do not panic. Get a Personal Coach, such as Emma McIntyre from Enlighten Coaching, to reignite your spark and remind you that your wedding day is going to be brilliant.
“What’s a Personal Coach and how can she help?” With diplomas in Personal Performance Coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming, Emma explains that she works with brides and grooms to help them take a different perspective on what’s happening. It’s about knowing how you are feeling; how this alters your behaviour, and what you can do to make this work in your favour. So, if you are feeling like there are still so many things to organise and so very little time to get it all done, and this makes you behave irritably or snap at your loved ones then Emma helps you reassess how to handle these emotions. This in turn helps you feel better and improves your
COACH
relationships with friends and family. Using what she calls her Empowerment Toolbox, Emma allows her clients to rebalance their lives, so health, wellbeing, and relationships stay positive.
How does it work? To start with, Emma offers a free 30minute consultation where she allows her client to express what parts of the wedding process they are currently struggling with. Emma then finds out how they want this to change. The next step is giving the client tools they can use to make this change a reality. Emma emphasises to her wedding clients that a negative emotion can be challenged and changed for a neutral or positive one
The use of Anchors Emma uses anchors to attach, or ‘anchor’ if you like, these positive emotions. Emma describes an anchor as an item or memory that you can use to reignite the positive feelings you need to help you behave in a positive manner. She says we all have anchors in our lives, but we don’t know them as that. For example, maybe you won’t leave the house without lipstick. The lipstick is a confidence anchor. Or when you won’t watch your favourite sports team without drinking from your lucky mug. The mug is an optimism anchor. Anchors can also be memories that we recall to re-live that emotion and bring it into the present with us.
Hoop of Excellence For example, a bride may want to feel confident and beautiful as she walks down the aisle, but currently she feels scared about people staring. Using the Hoop of Excellence, a tool from Emma’s Empowerment Toolbox, she works with the bride to re-live vivid memories of times she has felt confident along with memories of feeling beautiful. By recreating those past times in detail, the bride creates a memory anchor that she can use to feel beautiful and confident as she walks past family and friends to join her partner for the ceremony. With her training, Emma reminds her clients that they have all the skills and strength to achieve their perfect day and gives them the faith to make it happen.
Emma McIntyre from Enlighten Coaching, helps wedding couples feeling stressed and overwhelmed with the planning to reignite their spark and remind them that their wedding day is going to be brilliant. For more information on what Emma offers, go to www.enlightencoaching. co.uk 37
Chloe & James Images by Adam Joe Roberts Photography
How did you meet? We met in the first week of university. we first started talking at a friend’s flat party before going out, then we were the last ones out drinking tequilas at Heebie Jeebies in Liverpool and it took off from there. James: What first attracted me to Chloe was her eyes and big smile with her amazing teeth, and then her sense of humour and silliness, also her ability to laugh in the most inappropriate situations. Chloe: What I first liked about James was his wrinkly, smiley eyes and strong cheek bones, although I wouldn’t tell him that. I then found out how kind and fun he is, and doesn’t get embarrassed by anything but loves to embarrass me. We are very similar so we clicked very quickly. We were together for about five years before getting engaged. 38
Who proposed and how? We had been traveling around Asia and India for 7 months. In this time James had bought a ring and was carrying it around waiting for the right moment to ask. I knew nothing about this, but part of me was secretly hoping he would ask me at some point, because surely five years is long enough! It was my birthday, and we were in Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas and James had planned the day as a surprise. He hired a motorbike so we went out. We then had quite a stressful time finding this mystery place, but eventually arrived at the closed donkey sanctuary. James was determined we were going in so we just snuck in and were surrounded by about 30 donkeys. We were having lots of fun and I was loving it because I do love donkeys! I then turned around and James was on one knee along
with about five donkeys also looking up at me. So it was a very cute proposal and James said it just felt like the right time. Why did you choose The venue? Chloe: I knew I wanted to get married in Padgate Methodists church because I went most Sundays with my grandma, growing up. I lost my grandma three years ago and was very close to her so getting married there felt like a way of including her. We then viewed Statham lodge and loved it straight away, It was just what we had in mind and the staff and grounds are lovely. What was your theme and the venue decoration? Theme colours - winter colours, dusty pink, greens, burgundy. Favours - Homemade chocolate brownies Flowers - Wild looking flowers, Winter

We based it on travelling because we both love to travel together. We had a different country for each tier. We then had the two of us stood on top with our parrot Vinnie on my shoulder. We also had two donkeys, which tied in with the proposal. The donkeys greeted the guests at the church and then at Statham Lodge. They were both also wearing flowers to match the colour scheme. What did you wear? I knew I wanted to wear my grandmas veil that she wore 50 years ago. It’s a very long veil with scalloping all around the edges. I needed to find a dress to match. I went to Dorothy Rose bridal boutique and found
the ‘sophie’ dress. I tried it on and just loved it. It was long sleeves with a high neck, slim fitting and embellished all over. It was exactly what I had in mind. Bridesmaid dresses were silk and dusty pink. They fit with the wintery vintage feel I was going for. What outfit did the groom wear? James chose his suit himself from ‘Groom’. It was Navy blue tweed. All of the groomsmen wore dusty pink ties and James wore a bow tie. How did you entertain your guests? We had my sisters boyfriends family Jazz band. They played a lot of classic soul music with a jazz twist. They got everyone up dancing and kept them there until they finished. One of our favourites was when
they played tequila, obviously we all got tequila and is now a tradition we have. Memorable moments for the day. James: Seeing Chloe for the first time, walking down the aisle and being completely overwhelmed. James’ grandad forgot to put his tooth in for one of the photos. The first dance, we chose ‘Say a Little Prayer’ by Aretha Franklin which we’d decided on whilst in Barcelona, we love the lyrics and it’s not too soppy for us Honeymoon, Where did you go? We travelled around Colombia for three weeks for our honeymoon. We saw beaches, mountains, did a couple of Jungle treks. Tried salsa dancing for the first time and drank lots of coffee. 39

The wedding car company was happy to oblige when we asked for a detour between the church and the venue so we could visit Michael’s granddad’s grave as he didn’t make it to the wedding. Where did you go for your honeymoon? We went to kalamaki, Zakynthos. It is Hannah’s favourite place in the world. Hannah’s dad booked it so that she could share her favourite place with her husband. We went for a week. A week of pure relaxation after the hype of the wedding.

Your wedding day is one of the most special times in your life and in my opinion the most valuable result of having your makeup professionally applied will be the results shown in your wedding photos
Wedding As a make-up artist I have found brides always want to know the secret behind creating a lasting look for their wedding day. It goes without saying that good skincare routine in the run up is a must but on the day - Bridal makeup is renowned for a soft dewy look and almost pure complexion.
Here are some tips for achieving flawless, radiant bridal makeup. XXStay hydrated and most importantly ensure the skin is well moisturised in the weeks prior to your big day. XXUse an eye primer on lids prior applying concealer or foundation to even out the skin tone, finishing with a light dusting of powder - apply colour. XXAlways use a primer as a base for your foundation which enables the product to glide on for a perfect finish. Build foundation in thin layers until you achieve the required level of coverage.
42
MAKEUP
Set with light dusting of powder, particularly T-Zone. XXBesides not blending enough, the most common cheek contour fail is not contouring shade into your hairline. You want to go all the way from the inside of your hairline and direct the contour color toward the outside of your mouth, no further than the outer corner of your eye.
XXWhen wearing bronzer or highlighter on your face, don’t forget to sweep it across your neck, cleavage, and shoulders. For easy application, use a big, fluffy brush to apply from the neck down. XXIf you want to double up the volume & length of your lashes, try applying a coat on the opposite (top) side first. XXTo create a super-precise lip line, you need a freshly sharpened pencil every time you apply - a super pointy tip glides seamlessly across the skin. Put pencils in the freezer for a while before sharpening!
XXFor budge-proof, bold brows apply eyelid primer directly onto your brows and then use your brow product of choice. XXFor fresh, glowing eyes apply a beige or light pink shimmery eyeshadow or cream eyeliner to the center of your lower lash line. XXKeep foundation and eye makeup in place by using a finishing spray.

Book your hair trial at least 2 months before the wedding, Try not to set unrealistic expectations for your hair and eating foods with essential fats can help create more shine to your hair
Wedding All eyes will be on you on your big day, so it’s not unusual for you as the bride, to feel a little nervous! Here are a few tips and ideas to help you take away the stress.
HAIR
before the wedding. You will have already had your consultation when you booked your stylist. XXTry not to set unrealistic expectations for your hair, e.g if you know your hair does not hold a curl, opt for an updo instead. XXWash your hair a day or two before the day so it is not too soft, and more manageable. XXTake into account the style you want, is your hair long enough for it? be open
hairpiece and/or veil. Keep in mind the texture of your hair. If you have very fine hair, you would not choose a heavy comb! instead go for something light and small in order to grip your hair. XXBe true to your hair, when bringing photo ideas to your stylist. If your hair is fine, research styles for fine hair. As some brides will focus on elaborate hairstyles which may not be suited to your hair type. XXFinally eating foods with essential fats can help create more shine to your hair, such as salmon, tuna and avocado. Giving your hair that healthy look.
XXI recommend securing your hairstylist at least a year in advance due to their demand. You don’t want to be disappointed if they already have a booking on your date. XXA few weeks before, give your hair some extra love by applying a hair a conditioning mask e.g Tresemme restructuring treatment. This will help to add moisture and shine. XXBook your hair trial at least 2 months
to add extensions to achieve that extra length or to add volume. XXAvoid a trim before the wedding! as this may alter the style what you agreed on at the trial. XXRemember when you invest in your

I often get asked why I got into hairdressing? I knew from a very early age that I wanted to be a hairdresser. My grandad was a hairdresser and so was his father and brother, who owned three barber shops in Liverpool many decades ago. This inspired me to become a hairdresser, to make people feel and look beautiful, it’s such a rewarding feeling. As a passionate hairstylist the service I deliver is professional and bespoke to everyone, to meet your personal hair desires. I have over 18 years’ experience in hairdressing and am qualified to an advance level with NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing, Master Colour Expert degree with Wella and numerous diplomas in creative cutting, colouring, long hairstyling and bridal hair. I am also a state registered hairdresser with the hair council. What makes me different to the rest? I listen to my clients wants and needs and do my very best to understand them and achieve those. I give my honest opinion and offer my professional expertise and knowledge for advice. My clients very often say that it’s nice to have a hairdresser that listens to them. Here’s a testimonial from a recent bride; “I was recommended Leanne for bridal hair and for the last 12 months Leanne has also been doing my cut and colour. Leanne did the hair up for myself and bridesmaid and also blow dried the mums’ hair. I highly recommend Leanne, she is so friendly and has a wealth of knowledge and skill. We had a trial beforehand and she gave ideas and listened to the styles we wanted which she produced beautifully. On the morning of the wedding Leanne made sure everything was relaxed and stayed until we left to get married. My hair didn’t move all day.Thank you again Leanne.” – Amanda D’Arcy All these photos are from Amanda’s wedding. Credit to wedding photographer; Raymond Jones Images

Doves, traditionally seen as a universal symbol of spirit, peace and eternity can be enjoyed as part of your special occasion. Releasing of the doves can demonstrate eternity, love and unity, at any event.
Wedding Horse racing is referred to as “the sport of kings”. However, there is another sport less commonly known that is also associated with Royalty, and that is pigeon racing. Our Queen Elizabeth II is patron of “The Royal Pigeon Association”, and it has been a Royal hobby since 1886, when King Leopold II of Belgium gave some racing pigeons to our Royal Family. The sport today is also traditionally passed down through generations of families similarly to the owner of a dove releasing services provided by White Doves of Love.
It is this tradition that has encouraged the organiser Leanne, whose father still races birds, to offer a bird release service employing pure white birds. Leanne’s father has kept racing pigeons for over 50 years after being introduced to the sport by his father who kept birds for almost 70 years. It was Leanne’s great grandfather who raced these birds since the 1930’s and his father before him, that perpetuated the practice. This strong family tradition is common within this sport, as youngsters are encouraged to follow in the family footsteps from an early age. Leanne has been an active follower of this tradition, regularly transporting her
WHITE DOVES
dad and grandad together with their birds to places all over the country, to give the birds practice runs. She also helped ensure trophies were kept up to date, making sure winners names were inscribed in preparation for presentation awards for winners. There is currently a trophy named after her uncle, called the Rimmer memorial cup, which is still in circulation today. Leanne is still involved in the training and racing of her dads pigeons. However, there is a unique niche whereby doves, traditionally seen as a universal symbol of spirit, peace and eternity can be enjoyed as part of your special occasion. It is Leanne’s beloved Pure White bred Logan doves that can elevate a ceremony, enhancing the sentiments that you may wish to convey.
Released birds can be digitally captured by your photographer, or if guests release them from specially designed baskets, this can demonstrate eternity, love and unity, at any event. Alternatively, a single or a pair of doves can be solemnly released at a loved one’s funeral for example, to demonstrate the free spirit of the loved one ascending. These can invoke a powerful sentiment even at weddings where they can represent the spirit of a loved one no longer here. Leanne, lovingly cares for her birds and will discuss availability for each bespoke release to provide a perfect memorable moment for each and every person who is interested.
Doves can be displayed at an event for decorative purposes, creating unique photograph opportunities from decorative displays. Alternatively, they can be released by hand by yourself, or by guests.

I feel incredibly lucky to work in an industry where everyone is so genuinely passionate about what they do, that’s important
Wedding
Mentalist, illusionist and magician Simon Hughes shares his thoughts and advice for couples looking to add even more magic to their day…
Why have a magician at your wedding? It’s going to be the hard to stop this from sounding like a sales pitch, but there are literally a hundred answers I could give you. A magician at your wedding means there’s always entertainment for people as the performer will adapt to the natural flow of the day, so whether they’re waiting for food or queuing at the bar, they always be amazed, laughing, most likely both. It’s the ultimate icebreaker, when you’ve got new people arriving, they’re instantly brought into the party. All in all a magician is the perfect fit for the most magical day of your life.
What makes a good magician? Wedding magicians will perform tricks like putting a banknote in a lemon, bending
MAGICIAN
coins and making cards appear on the ceiling. You know want a magician who can amaze your guests, but you’re also looking for someone who knows how to work the room, maintain the atmosphere and spark up conversations. This mostly comes down to experience so look at their website and see if they’ve got photos from plenty of performances. Look at their social media, as testimonials are automatically verified there.
Industry Trends The style of magicians at weddings tends to fall in line with the style of magicians on live shows and television, so expect to see that kind of style. There is an increase in acts tailoring themselves to your day, the result being magic that feels designed for your guests as opposed to “off the shelf ” tricks. Couples and guests are left with impossible souvenirs that are completely unique to them, so always talk to your magician to see what they can offer. You will also have the choice of the kind
of magician you want, the serious and mysterious performer or the more lighthearted comic magician or the performer in the middle. It all comes down to what will suit your day.
How do we choose? The best advice I can give is to meet magicians at wedding fairs or venue open days. This will automatically confine your choice to those who are professional performers and also to those focused on working in the wedding industry, naturally making the quality you’ll be choosing from considerably higher. Most importantly, you’ll get to chat to them and get a feel of the kind of effects (magician’s word for tricks) they’ll perform. In the end you are always going to be the best judge of whether they will fit with your day. Actions speak louder than words, see what they’ve done, look at their client list, look for TV/radio appearances ask how long they’ve been performing
How much does it cost? I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised here. Most performers will be able to quote you specifically for your wedding or give you an hourly rate. Whilst like anything, the price can vary tremendously but it’ll certainly be one of the smaller sums to come out of your budget and considering you’ll have non-stop, top class entertainment added to your day, pound for pound its incredible value for money.

Many non-UK residents like to travel to our shores to get a taste of British culture on their big day. However, it can get a little complicated with visa and other laws regarding marriage. There IS a simpler way, do the legal part in your home country and have a celebrant led ceremony in England or Wales.
Useful Information For
Non-Brits Marry in the UK
It’s not just Brits who like the idea of getting married abroad. Many non-UK residents like to travel to our shores to get a taste of British culture on their big day. But how does that work? What do you need to marry legally in the UK? Well, this is where it can get a little complicated as different parts of the UK have different laws regarding marriage. This article focuses on England and Wales, but you can get more information about getting marrid in Scotland and Northern Ireland from their goverment websites. In England and Wales, the first thing you need to do is to make sure you have the right travel documents. At the time of writing, this means a marriage visitor visa if you are not a member of the EEA or a Swiss National. You need to be organised as the earliest you can apply for it is three months before your travels, but it can take three weeks for a decision to be made. Once you have your visa and you are here in England or Wales, you need to give notice of your intention to marry. You must find a place to stay for at least five weeks. After seven days you can give notice at your local registry office. You then wait a further 28 days to find out if this has been accepted as in some cases it takes longer, so be prepared with accommodation and funds for your stay.
Is there a simpler way? Yes. One way around this is to do the legal part in your home country and have a celebrant led ceremony in England or Wales. There are several benefits to celebrating your love this way. •
It’s a budget and time saver as you don’t have to fund your stay in England or Wales for as long…if you don’t want to
•
It means you can choose a date that suits you and not one that fits around two work schedules and a venue’s availability
•
A celebrant ceremony in England or Wales can be in any venue, indoors or out, day or night. This differs from legally binding religious and civil ceremonies
•
And the best bit of a celebrant ceremony is the celebrant writes your ceremony especially for you. This makes your wedding ceremony extra special as the vows you make will be entirely personal to you
So, what’s stopping you? Come and say your best and most heartfelt yes in good ol’ Blighty. Apologies in advance for the weather.

Wedding Creche Founder of Bluey and Baloo, Michelle Peters is studying an important subject; children and play and this has massively influenced the standard of childcare that is offered at Bluey and Baloo, no child should ever be left out. At events, this means that there is a very large range of activities and very experienced nannies that are used to settling children into a new space.
Activities include ball pools, den building kits, arts and crafts and balloon modelling
to name a few. The wedding creche service is not the only package too, we regularly look after children of the bride and groom, through the wedding nanny service.
Another reason to book a wedding creche is that it’s a brilliant way to include children and their parents and still have quiet times when needed. Having a conversation with other adults, a lovely meal and a beverage can be a rare treat for parents. A wedding creche would be a great way to enable this to happen. Not forgetting fun times for
the children in the creche.
“We booked Bluey and Baloo to provide wedding childcare for 18 children, what a fantastic job they did. I’ve had nothing but praise from the parents and when I asked my seven-year-old niece what her favourite part of the wedding had been she said, ‘when we went to play’. Couldn’t ask for a more perfect reply, thanks to Michelle, Linda and the team”
Bluey and Baloo have been providing event childcare since 2009 and are regional winners of wedding creche of the year North 2018. For more information 03300 881838 blueyandbaloo.co.uk
