Concierge Corner Pranav Mehra, Front Office Manager at NU Hotel Brooklyn
Q: What’s an excellent spot to capture a great selfie?
A: The city is full of great selfie spots. The skyline view at Brooklyn Bridge Park is incredible, as are the colors and backdrops on Coney Island. Washington Street in Dumbo is also a great area for a classic New York background. At NU Hotel Brooklyn, we have guest rooms with street art-inspired murals as well as shared spaces with whimsical wall patterns that would be fun backdrops!
Q. What is the best suggestion you can give a first-time visitor?
A: Take the time to create your own adventure. I would suggest walking the Brooklyn Bridge from the Manhattan side to Brooklyn and exploring the promenade for amazing views, taking in the architecture in Brooklyn Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods, checking out Dumbo and venturing further into Carroll Gardens, Clinton Hill or Park Slope.
Q. If someone only had 24 hours in NYC, where would you send them?
420 Lexington Avenue, Suite 1402 POB 1047
New York, New York 10170
A: I would highly recommend a hop-on, hop-off to get in as much as you can in 24 hours. I would also suggest visiting the Botanic Gardens in Brooklyn and having lunch or dinner at Le Petit Café in Carroll Gardens, which has a stunning atrium during the day and a candlelit wall at night. You also can’t go wrong with exploring outdoor attractions like Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is one of my personal favorites.
Q. For a guest looking for a night on the town, what would you recommend?
A: I’d recommend finding a local restaurant or bar a pre-outing bite and drink then following that with a concert, sporting event, comedy show or a Broadway show.

Big Apple Circus Big Apple Circus Lights Up the Skyline! Lights Up the Skyline! We’re not clowning around—Big Apple Circus returns to New York City! Nestled against the picturesque backdrop of the city’s glittering skyline, the Big Apple Circus rings in its 2024 season at the iconic Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park. Known for blending traditional circus arts with modern flair, this beloved New York modern holiday tradition invites audiences of all ages to step into a world of wonder and excitement. The show is set to run from November 8-January 5, 2025, giving visitors and locals plenty of time to catch all the action.
With a legacy of showcasing talented performers from around the globe, Big Apple Circus promises dazzling acrobatics, innovative juggling acts, and captivating comedic performances that capture the imaginations of both young and old. “In many ways, the Big Apple Circus has evolved and transformed from its early days in Battery Park to our current home at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park,” Chris Yancey, President of Big Apple Circus, told us. “At the same time, we try hard to retain what makes Big Apple Circus so special to New Yorkers. In this age of extreme digital distraction, what I think appeals to families is the shared experience of live entertainment in such a fun and intimate environment. With our one-ring format, no one is ever more than 50 feet away from the action.”
For 2024, Big Apple Circus has a show that’s ready to hit home way. “This year’s theme, “Hometown Playground,” is a celebratio New York City, its culture and the iconic neighborhoods and landmarks that make it like no other city in the world,” Yancey said of the year’s theme. “Our director, two-time Emmy Award-winner Shanda Sawyer, has created a nonstop show that packs all the magic of New York City into an exciting two-hour production. We can’t wait for audiences to experience all it has to offer.”
From the thrill of daring aerial stunts to the the warmth of the cutest performing poodles, each show is a testament to the artistry and resilience that define the circus experience. But blending the effects of modern technology with age-old performance arts is no easy feat. “It’s a balancing act, no pun intended,” Yancey told us. “We’ve strived to create a production that appeals to families and children of all ages. Oftentimes, parents and grandparents want to see the more traditional circus acts that remind them of going to the circus as a child, while their kids are eager for something more contemporary. “Hometown Playground” caters to both through a variety of artistry, comedy, music and special effects.”

Broadway Guide Insider: the city’s notable locals are also the stars of Broadway. We talked with Jasmine Forsberg who stars as Jane Seymour in the production SIX, about her favorite places in New York City.
wives of King Henry VIII, and her song is a stunning power ballad called “Heart of Stone.” Jane has taught me that there is strength in being soft.
How did you get your start in performing, and in what other shows have you performed?
Forsberg- I’ve always been involved in the arts for as long as I can remember. I started dance lessons when I was two, piano lessons when I was three, and voice lessons when I was six…it was only a matter of time before storytelling was added to the mix. My first show was a production of 101 Dalmatians as a little girl, and I have never looked back since. Other Broadway credits include Here Lies Love (my Broadway debut and
Broadway’s first-ever all-Filipino cast), as well as the upcoming Old Friends at Manhattan Theatre Club.
How would you describe your show to someone completely unfamiliar with Broadway?
Forsberg- SIX is the story of the six wives of Henry VIII, told through the lens of a fierce pop girl group. We take the microphone to belt out the history of these queens while competing to see who had the worst marriage to the king. It’s like the Spice Girls meets Broadway!
What do you love most about the show you are performing in right now?
Forsberg- Standing alongside five other women of color every single night is such a powerful feeling. It’s not every show that you spend your big solo number basking in the spotlight while spending the rest of the show supporting all of the other queens onstage. It’s a practice of both taking up space and generously sharing space with others.
What was the one NYC lesson you learned shortly after arriving in the Big Apple?
Forsberg- Learning the subways is a necessity Shoutout to CityMapper for all the help.
What are the best tips you can give a visitor?
Forsberg- Wear comfortable shoes—you are going to be on your feet here! Comfort over fashion is key. Also, explore more than just midtown Manhattan. Each neighborhood has its own distinct feel, and for me, it’s still fun to be a tourist in my own city.
If you’re going out for a night in the town of New York City, where would you go?
Forsberg- One of my favorite places for a post-show beverage is the Rosevale Cocktail Room Civilian Hotel. They have live music on weekends, and the vibes are so swanky and sophisticated. Perfect for a date night or time with friends and family.
