Q: What are your best tips for exploring NYC like a local?
A: Depending on one’s schedule and time, it is truly wonderful to explore various residential neighborhoods such as the Upper West Side, Upper East Side and other areas that do not necessarily have famous landmarks or sightseeing attractions but “hidden gems” that local New Yorkers frequent. For example, the East Side neighborhood of Beekman Place not only contains historic homes such as the original home of Irving Berlin, who wrote the famous song “White Christmas,” but also there are parks and gardens with a lovely promenade walkway along the East River, weather permitting. Here, you feel as though you are truly in a local residential pocket neighborhood of Manhattan.
What should be on every visitor’s “bucket list” when visiting?
A: 1) If one has never visited NYC before and it is their first time, I would highly suggest seeing a classic Broadway Show that is so iconic to NYC. 2)
Additionally, a Boat Cruise around the Statue of Liberty, walking along the Brooklyn promenade from across the East River to take in the spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline from afar both day and night. 3) Visit a historic, famous NYC Deli to experience a real authentic “Corned Beef” or “Pastrami Sandwich on Rye.” 4)A Walk on the Highline: The former elevated Railway transformed into a modern sculpture garden while passing through areas known as Hudson Yards, Chelsea and the Meatpacking District.
What’s an excellent spot to capture a great selfie?
A: Washington Street in Brooklyn is one of the most Instagrammable photo opportunities in NYC. Located in Dumbo between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge, one has a backdrop of a charming street and the bridge crossing the river together with the Manhattan skyline in the distance. There is a certain time of the day close to sunset when it is truly spectacular.

Broadway Guide Insider:
Sydney Lemmon From Nobody knows New York City like a local. Some of the city’s notable locals are also the stars of Broadway. We talked with Sydney Lemmon stars as Jane in the production Job, about her favorite places in New York City.
breakdown in the office. She finds herself at a mandated therapy session where she hopes she’ll be approved to return to her favorite place in the world: her job.
How did you get your start in performing, and in what other shows have you performed?
Lemmon- I got my start understudying the great Phillipa Soo in THE PARISIAN WOMAN on Broadway in 2017, the year I graduated from drama school at Yale. I am very happy to be back a few years later,
with a role I was lucky enough to originate offBroadway before transferring to The Hayes!
How would you describe your show to someone completely unfamiliar with Broadway?
Lemmon- 80 electrifying minutes. Often funny. Intense. Two actors going toe to toe. You’ll be thinking about the play long after it’s over, trying to untangle the knots and mysteries held within it.
What do you love most about the show you are performing in right now?
Lemmon- Working with the great actor Peter Friedman. You might know him as “Frank” from Succession. He’s also likely originated a role in a play by your favorite contemporary playwright.
What are the best tips you can give a visitor?
Lemmon- See a comedy show, see a dance show, find some interesting live music—the city is overflowing with inspiring, brilliant creatives!
If you’re going out for a night on the town in New York City, where would you go?
Lemmon- I love a martini at Sardi’s, a famous Broadway watering hole — so much fabulous history!
Where are your favorite spots to send family and friends when they visit?
Lemmon- Certainly, a walk or bike ride in Central Park, the Met is never a bad idea, or you can grab a slice of pizza and stroll around the village.
What do you love best about New York City?
Lemmon- I love that in NYC, days contain days within them. Your day is guaranteed to bring you surprises, and you never know where those surprises might take you! Be ready for the adventure that is life in NYC!

The Best Views in New York City A trip to New York City wouldn’t be complete without a picture-perfect shot of the NYC skyline. While skyscrapers are in the Big Apple, you might be unable to access them all. Below are five of our favorite observation decks that provide sweeping views of the concrete jungle.
One World Observatory One World Observatory offers guests fantastic 360-degree views every day of the year from a comfortable indoor space. Start your experience by adding your hometown to the Global Welcome Center before visiting the Horizon Grid. The 102-story ride that comes next takes only 47 seconds via the Skypod Elevators. From here, you can take in the sights, enjoy a meal or a libation from high above at ONE Dine and ONE Mix, the onsite restaurant and bar, and even learn more about the surrounding buildings from the Digital Skyline Guide via iPad. Make sure to visit the “See Forever Theater” for a presentation of the city unlike any you’ve seen before. One World Observatory is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of New York City.
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt You’ll find SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, high above the city atop an iconic skyscraper. Perch over a thousand feet above the city with the glass ledges of “Levitation.” Those searching for a thrill can visit “Ascent” and take the exterior elevators to the top of Summit One Vanderbilt—the floors are made of glass. From here, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of New York City. The newly opened attraction also features “Air” by Kenzo Digital, an art installation designed to make visitors feel suspended midair. “Air” is one of the world’s largest art installations. Enjoy a meal at Après with stunning panoramic views of the city below.
Empire State Building Even if you’ve never been to New York City, you’ve seen the Empire State Building on television and in movies over the years. Heralded as the “world’s most famous building,” this iconic skyscraper built in 1930 has been making headlines and breaking records since its inception. Learn about the history of the building on the second and 80th floors, and then journey to the two observation decks, where you’re almost guaranteed the perfect skyline view from the 86th and 102nd floors. Guests can even download a free self-guided tour to their phones. Enjoy the numerous dining and shopping options at the Empire State Building and make a full day of your visit.
Edge If you’re at Hudson Yards, a visit to Edge promises an exhilarating experience and some spectacular sights. Enjoy the NYC skyline from a fully suspended skydeck—the highest one in the Western Hemisphere. Edge is a paradise for thrillseekers, with glass floors that allow you to look down 100 stories and angled glass walls that will enable you to lean against the skyline. For the biggest adrenaline rush, guests can book the City Climb, an experience that allows guests to safely scale outside the deck for unobstructed city views from the sky. Visitors can also book the Sky-High Yoga and enjoy an early morning workout at Edge.
Top of the Rock One of the best views in New York City (and quickly the world) can be found at Top of the Rock. You’ll spot the red carpet entry to the observation deck immediately, and you won’t want to miss a single moment of the journey. Stop by the Mezzanine Exhibit to learn about the history of Rockefeller Center and Top of the Rock, then get your photo taken at the Beam Walk next on your way to the Theatre. The Sky Shuttle is next and whisks you up 850 feet in under 60 seconds. Your first stop is the 67th floor, with a viewing area and the Swarovski Radiance Wall. Your next stop will be the 69th floor, home to viewing areas and the Breezeway. Top of the Rock saves the best for last with the 70th-floor rooftop viewing, which offers 360° views with no obstructions. Top of the Rock recently introduced a thrilling new attraction—The Beam. At 69 stories high, buckle up for the ultimate sky-high thrill.
Afternoon in the Seaport District By Heather Chin
EAT When it comes to eating in this neighborhood, you won’t go hungry for long. The Seaport District offers NYC Seaport Food Lab, which rotates chefs the likes of Dale Talde, Alon Shaya and Jessica Koslow in two-week residencies, while the vast Clinton Hall gastropub features arcade games, 20 types of burgers and more. Fresh seafood abounds at quaint Dorlan’s Tavern&OysterBar SHOP
