Is Samford becoming a N.I.M.B.Y. community? That is, ‘Not in My Back Yard’. Plans for a small-scale residential townhouse complex in Station Street in Samford Village, with allocation for commercial and retail space, has been derided and opposed by some members of the community. Samford people have been very proactive when it comes to preserving the village from over development. You may recall a well organised and well informed populus banding together to stifle plans by a supermarket giant to set up shop in the area. Residents would justifiably be entitled to be outraged if large-scale housing developments threatened the quaint amenity of semi-rural areas such as Samford Valley, Camp Mountain, Yugar, Wights Mountain, Draper and Highvale. But Samford Village is the area’s CBD and very popular with visitors – full cafés and eateries are testament to that – and people from other areas would welcome affordable housing in a place Samford locals enjoy but some seem reluctant to share. – Lee Oliver, Editor

Samford development threatens to divide locals By Damian Staveley
Crown
P
lans for proposed new commercial and residential blocks in Samford Village have received a mixed response from residents. The development, located on a 32402m site at the corner of Church and Station Streets, would provide six spaces for retail and office use, and six two-storey townhouses. Its construction would mark Samford’s first medium-density, multi-use residential dwellings. Residents living next door to the site have expressed concerns about the development, but Moreton Bay Region Councillor Bob Millar (Division 11) said no one had raised any issues with him directly. Cr Millar said he did not think the new buildings would look out of place in the village. “It would not be dissimilar to much of the other development that has taken place in Samford Village in the last 20 years, other than it will provide also six townhouses,” he said. Charlene Betts, who runs the popular Flying Nun Café located across the road from the proposed development site, said she was not too worried by the proposal. “From what I’ve seen of the sketches, the retail part of it is only a single level building, it’s not a terrible monstrosity,” she said. “And with more residents closer to us it will potentially boost our trade. “It’s nice to be able to share Samford with more people. There are so many people that come here who say Samford is such a beautiful place, such a nice community, so it’s making it more affordable for people to move out here.” Other Samford district residents have been voicing their opinions on the project on the Samford Valley Community Noticeboard page on Facebook. “When the time comes that we can no longer handle the acreage we’ll have no option but to go back to the suburbs and leave an area that we really enjoy living in. More choice to move to a development like this in Samford would be welcome in my mind,” wrote Jill Cawthan. “Why do you not want luscious fields and hills? Why did you move here?,” wrote Kristy Delaneywood. “It’s called population increase. You can’t expect to live 30 mins (sic) from the city and be in the ‘country’ forever,” wrote Gemma Cadioli. Cr Millar also said the townhouses may provide an opportunity for young buyers who wish to live in Samford but cannot yet afford to buy an acreage property.

My name is Crown. I’m very busy at the moment being a Mum to my 11 babies. The eggs weren’t mine but I stole them from other hens because I really wanted to be a Mum. I was very dedicated and sat on the eggs for 21 days, protecting them from danger with my vicious beak and lightning-fast striking abilities. Soon I heard cheeping inside the eggs and then my babies started hatching! They love climbing all over me, except at night when they all hide underneath me so that I can keep them warm. I love teaching them how to find food – our favourite pastime is pecking in the long grass and finding bugs to hunt. The chickens are very proud and run around in circles when they catch one. I love being a Mum but I think I might steal less eggs next time – it’s a bit difficult rounding all the babies up when they don’t want to come back inside at night!

Kate’s heart in big ocean endeavours Brad King, Dayboro Brad is the President of Farm Animal Rescue, which provides sanctuary to farm animals formerly used in the animal agriculture industry, which live free range at Dayboro. What inspired me to establish Farm Animal Rescue… were my experiences at Farm Sanctuary in upstate New York. I greatly admire the work that they do advocating for animals used in the food and clothing industries and wanted to bring their approach to farm animal advocacy to Australia. The work I do is important… because farmed animals are the most abused animals on the planet. Yet there are only a handful or organisations dedicated to their protection, much less than there are for the protection of dogs, cats and wildlife. What I like most about the animal sanctuary… is seeing people connect with the animals in a way that they never thought was possible. Few people think of farm animals as the affectionate, social and playful creatures that they are. My favourite animal... They are all marvellous in their own way, but the pigs are definitely the most special, and by a mile the most misunderstood. Despite their reputation, pigs are amazingly house-proud and take great care to keep their houses clean and tidy. An animal personality that most closely mirrors my own… would have to be the roosters. Their focus is always on the protection of their hens, and they work at it from dawn till dusk every day! When I was young the job I wanted to do when I grew up… was to head up a corporation and become very rich. Something some people might not know about me… is that I did become a Director of a multi-national company, but it really wasn’t for me. If I were to write an autobiography it would be called… Let Live. Farm Animal Rescue will host an Open Day at its farm at 1713 Dayboro Road, Dayboro, a chance to meet the animals living at the sanctuary, on 18 October from 10am to 2pm. any 21-year-olds dream of seeing the world, but not many of them navigate their way across the globe on a tall ship. Kate Hart-Davies is travelling from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, via the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The Closeburn resident, who spoke to The Westerner from 300 nautical miles off the coast of Brazil, is one week away from completing an epic 60-day voyage at sea aboard the STS Young Endeavour. The nursing student took a year off from her university studies to work and save money for the voyage, her second Young Endeavour experience. Ms Hart-Davies previously sailed on the tall ship in Australian waters during an 11-day voyage four years ago, after being urged by family and friends to apply. “It sounded like something different to do and my sister had a great time doing it. She basically signed me up,” she said. “I hadn’t previously sailed and didn’t have any experience on the water at all. “It’s just something unique and different, not something you can do every day. “I love being on the water and meeting

new people who are all still my friends.” The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme provides young Australians with a unique and challenging experience at sea, whilst developing teamwork and leadership skills amongst members of the crew. The crew’s duties include steering the vessel, navigating using the ship’s charts, climbing 30m high masts to set and furl sails, and cooking in the galley. “They teach us everything about sailing, from sailing theory and navigation… to the everyday running of a ship,” Ms HartDavies said. Ms Hart-Davies says she loves “being off the grid for a while” and “being out in the open water in the middle of the Atlantic, knowing that closest land is miles away”. “I’m here to challenge myself and do something different,” she explains. “Not many 21-year-olds can say they have sailed the Atlantic Ocean.”
Gifted to the Australian Government by the United Kingdom in 1988, the STS Young Endeavour signifies the maritime heritage shared by the two countries. “I can imagine what it would have been like back in the day sailing, but thankfully when there’s no wind we can use an engine (to power the vessel),” Ms HartDavies said. Applications are open for the ballot to participate in next year’s Young Endeavour adventure, sailing along the Australian coast in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales. Twenty-four youth will join each 11 or 12-day voyage, and will learn the skills to sail a square-rigged tall ship. Applications, open to Australians aged from 16 to 23 years, can be made online at www.youngendeavour.gov.au

isiting bowlers will be green with envy when they play at the Dayboro Bowls Club early next year. The club’s existing bowling green will be replaced thanks to a $19,422 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Dayboro Bowls Club Secretary Graeme Hayes said the revamped green would give the club a “new lease of life” and “hopefully attract more players” to its current membership base of around 100. “It (the green) has been deteriorating over the past few years, particularly since we were flooded here in 2011,” he said. “We’ve had maintenance done on the green over the years before but it gets to a stage where you can only do so much. “We’ve have other clubs come here and we’re finding because of the quality of the
green, that was happening less and less because the green wasn’t up to scratch.” Work on the green is expected to begin late October, for completion by February. In 2012, Dayboro Bowls Club received a $32,000 grant to upgrade its kitchen. Mr Hayes said the funding assistance was vital, noting: “We’re just a voluntary club, we don’t have pokies”. “(Hosting) meals once a fortnight... is one of our major fundraisers,” he said. Other groups to recently receive grants include Mt Nebo Residents’ Association, Samford Riding for Disabled, Farm Animal Rescue, Pine Rivers Fish Management Association and Mt Samson State School. POLICE BEAT Armed robbery, Bray Park: Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Bray Park on 7 October. Around 10.40pm, two teenagers entered a service station on Old North Road and one of them produced a knife, threatening the male attendant and making demands for cash. The attendant removed the drawer from the till and handed it to the man. The offenders, described as being Caucasian in appearance and between 16 and 20 years of age, fled the scene on foot and were last seen heading towards Samsonvale Road. Rape charges, Kedron: A Warner man is one of four men charged with rape following investigations into an incident that occurred at Kedron on 26 January. A 19year-old Warner man was charged with one count each of rape and distribution of prohibited visual recordings. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 26 October. Three other men, two 19year-olds from Kedron and a 21-year-old from Wavell Heights, will also appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this month. Investigations are continuing.

The Clear Mountain resident is riding in the Great Cycle Challenge, raising funds to help the Children’s Medical Research Institute fight childhood cancer. Dennis has a personal interest in the cause, as he lost his nephew to the disease 32 years ago. Cancer is the largest killer of Australian children from disease, with more than 600 kids diagnosed every year and three dying every week. Dennis has joined Riders with Pace, a team comprising cyclists who have cardiac pacemakers, for the fundraiser. They aim to ride 975km between them during October, to raise $2000 for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. Dennis, who has had an implanted heart pacemaker since 1998, aims to ride a total of 100km this month. Riders with Pace generates awareness of people living with pacemakers and provides them with physical challenges, whilst raising money for charity.
Dennis Arnold is taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge, raising funds to fight childhood cancer.
So far this year the group has raised over $3100 for six different charities. “(A pacemaker) basically means I can function with the condition I have, because without it I would mainly be sitting in a chair,” Dennis said. Warner’s Carolyn Martinez has released her second book.

C
arolyn Martinez refers to Finding Love as “the book I wish I could have read while I was single”. The Warner resident was “hamstrung by circumstance and lack of knowledge” when she found herself single at 32, after 14 years in a relationship. Mrs Martinez found herself a husband almost a decade later, but her experiences as a single woman in-between inspired her to write Finding Love: 7 Things You Need to Know Before You Date Again. With practical tips and information for singles, the book tackles the topic of dating and finding love again, from both male and female perspectives. Mrs Martinez believes that Finding Love helps readers to be “proactive and ‘smart’, rather than reactive and emotional”. “Sometimes my decisions while I was single were clouded by my loneliness,” the author says. “If I’d been able to read Finding Love it would have helped me to step back from my situation and cast a more analytical eye, as opposed to an emotional one, at my circumstances and what I wanted for my future. “It all turned out great for me in the longrun because I stumbled across someone who helped me realise what Finding Love conveys, but there were some u-turns along the way to my finding my partner.” The author’s second book, following a title that detailed her experiences with IVF, Finding Love includes interviews with a relationships educator, first-person stories,

and self-reflection exercises for the reader. The 21 interview subjects, sourced via social media, are between the ages of 30 and 74 years. “I find that when people approach me, as opposed to me personally approaching people and putting them on the spot, that the interviewees are more open and engaged,” Mrs Martinez said. “It’s always interesting to ask men and women the same questions and see just how differently, and sometimes similarly, they think.” Mrs Martinez believes someone who “enters the dating sphere with your eyes wide open” will help them to make better decisions. “The choice of one’s partner deserves serious consideration. Love is often treated as frivolous, but in fact, your next partner choice will impact you for the rest of your life,” she said. Carolyn Martinez will launch Finding Love at Redcliffe Library and Art Gallery on 24 October at 2pm. The book is available from www.hawkeyepublishing.com.au

W
hich local hall opened with a rollicking concert? What was once located on the site of the district’s biggest shopping centre? What did Dayboro’s main street look like before the introduction of the motor vehicle? A new exhibition at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through the history of the district. The Pine Rivers area has a rich history that was captured in early photographic records of the region. The How Times Have Changed exhibition tells tales of transformation from early European settlement through to the current day, supported by reminiscences and anecdotes from the local community.
The imagery is lifted from the region’s earliest photos, recalling many locations and buildings that remain at the heart of local communities. A recent comparative study created contemporary views of the same sites used in the exhibit. How Times Have Changed is a joint project between the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, the Dayboro District Historical Society, the Samford District Historical Museum, North Pine Historical Society and Arana Hills historian Melva Welch. The exhibition is on at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum until 22 November. Entry is free. The museum, at Old Petrie Town on Dayboro Road, Whiteside is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am. Geoff set for third election
G
eoff McKay would demand that Moreton Bay Regional Council be more fiscally responsible and transparent in its dealings, if elected as the new Division 10 councillor in March. The Arana Hills resident, pictured, who is running as part of the Your Community First team at the elections, has long been involved in community action initiatives to improve the Hills District and Bunya. “I’ve spoken at public meetings attended by the mayor and councillors, written submissions and news columns on local government, met with the mayor, councillors, Unitywater, the Premier, State Government ministers, local MPs, State Government bureaucrats. “This ethos of community engagement caused me to contest the 2000 and 2004 Pine Rivers Council elections, and the same spirit drives me to contest the 2016 Moreton Bay elections,” he said.
If elected, he would push for Moreton water supplier Unitywater to “moderate its prices by appointing a councillor to the board... to represent ratepayers”. “I would also seek to reduce the alarming trend for council to run closed meetings, improve council responsiveness, put a brake on council borrowing and spending, and look to re-open local councillor offices,” Mr McKay said. He also wants Council to run advisory polls on matters of public interest, and see the completion of projects such as a $5 million community centre at James Drysdale Reserve at Bunya “promised at the last election four years ago”.
New team for Moreton Bay council The elections for Moreton Bay are in March 2016. INTERESTED IN BEING A CANDIDATE? Check out our policies at www.yourcommunityfirst.org.au Call Peter Houston on 0417 766 835 or email president@yourcommunityfirst.org.au

It was the first time that Dayboro State School has won the competition, which sees teams of four school students read set texts before being quizzed with questions relating to the books. “It was a bit nerve-wracking because there were a lot of private schools... and we were one of the few state schools,” Amy said. “When we were doing it we were all really excited and when we found out we had won, we were so happy. “All of the school was amazed because it was the first time we had ever won.” Dayboro’s awesome foursome beat 25 teams from 20 schools to win the Brisbane North Region Readers Cup mid-year. It is the first year Dayboro State School has won either the regional or state finals of the Readers Cup, which also has a competition for high school students in Years 7 and 8. It is also the first time in the 11-year history of Readers Cup that a team representing Brisbane North has won either the primary or secondary age division of the competition.
Scarlett Rutherford, Eleni Dowling, Holly Thomas and Amy Robinson won the Queensland final of the Readers Cup.
The supervising teacher of Dayboro’s winning team, Melinda Foord, said the four students exhibited excellent reading and comprehension skills. “Students were selected (to compete) according to their reading levels and comprehension results,” she said. The fiction books the students read and studied for the state final were My Dog Doesn’t Like Me, by Elizabeth Fensham, Figgy in the World, by Tamsin Janu, Ophelia and the Marvellous Boy, by Karen Foxlee, Brotherhood of Thieves: The Wardens, by Stuart Daly, and Birrung, the Secret Friend, by Jackie French. Eighteen districts of Queensland were represented in the Readers Cup, which is organised by the Queensland branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia. The Readers Cup state final, held at St Laurence’s College at South Brisbane, coincided with the Brisbane Writers Festival.

Moonlight walkers fight MS
H
undreds of people are set to lace up their shoes for a walk against a debilitating disease this month. The MS Moonlight Walk, featuring 5km and 10km walks around South Brisbane, will raise money to support people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). A debilitating disease of the central nervous system that affects more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition, MS is a lifelong disease. The average age of diagnosis for MS, for which a cure is yet to be found, is just 30 years of age. Organisers hope to raise $500,000 via the MS Moonlight Walk on 23 October.
Cashmere’s Michelle Miers has enlisted people from her Zumba fitness classes to take part in the event. Last year the team raised over $4500 and around $3000 in 2013. “We feel very fortunate that we are able to get up and go to a Zumba class and enjoy ourselves, whereas someone living with MS may not be able to enjoy this freedom,” Ms Miers said. “So we have decided to give back to those less fortunate.” To register for the MS Moonlight Walk or to sponsor the team search for ‘Zumba with Michelle’ at www.moonlightwalk.com.au

Legend In the 1960s, Ronnie and Reggie Kray supposedly ruled London. If you decide to do a bit of research before seeing Legend, the extent to which this is true is disputed. Regardless, the Kray twins have managed to successfully mythologise themselves and, after all, Legend is just a movie. Tom Hardy plays both twins. Matching the impressiveness of his performance are tricks utilised to effectively have him on screen conversing with or fighting himself. Hardy’s performance is the best part of the film, which begins with the Krays already running the East End of London through extortion and protection rackets. Reggie Kray is the brain of the operation, while Ronnie is the occasional muscle who mostly just seems to reap the benefits of his brother’s actions. But their relationship is strained. Reggie is charming and suave initially, although this dissipates quickly towards the film’s end. Ronnie is mentally unstable and suspicious of everyone. He actively undermines his brother so as to maintain his gangster lifestyle. Hardy’s transformation between the two characters is flawless. Legend charts the Kray gang’s growth into the rest of the city, where they reach such magnificent heights as to be rubbing shoulders with the upper echelons of London society, from politicians to celebrities, thanks to their ownership of various clubs and gambling institutions. The film does not shy away from the violence involved in their operations. In one scene the Krays successfully fend off an ambush by a rival gang in a bar using knuckle dusters and hammers as weapons. Occasionally, the violence comes across as comical, but that is symptomatic of the film’s larger issue: writer and director Brian Helgeland cannot seem to stick to a particular tone or focus.
Samford Valley duo will have their topical artwork displayed in one of the country’s premier art galleries, after winning a major student art award. Chiara Stegert and Tayla Humphries, both 17, are two of only 33 students from Queensland high schools, chosen from 522 entrants, to win a Creative Generation Excellence Award in Visual Art. The prize-winning artworks will feature at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane next year. A student at Northside Christian College, Ms Stegert won an award for her mixed media self-portrait, Strings Attached. “It was a personal exploration of guilt and the way that it can restrain us in our lives and also how it relates to feminine identity,” Ms Stegert said. “With loaded choices that we have to make as women, such as between career and children, either way we go… sometimes it feels like there’s no right way and we have this guilt that maybe we make the wrong choices.
Act 1 Theatre Old Shire Hall Cnr Gympie Rd & Hall St Strathpine
“I think it (the subject of femininity) is such a prominent issue that you deal with at our age and in this time in our world. “The place of women is totally changing and totally transforming… and it’s very prevalent for the time that we’re living in and the world that we’re living in.
www.act1theatreinc.com
Directed by John Sayles
With such a sprawling story, though, the film occasionally fails to manage its similarly sized cast. Some characters, such as obsessive police detective Leonard “Nipper” Read (Christopher Ecclestone), disappear entirely for large portions of the film despite being introduced as an important character.

Guiding us through the highs and lows of their short-lived reign is Frances Shea (Emily Browning), a young girl so drawn to Reggie’s smooth-talking ways she marries him, despite knowing the trouble he would surely bring. Frances’ resigned voice gives you a sense of foreboding, but her narration will occasionally make you cringe. Above this, though, Browning’s performance is excellent.
Other players, such as Teddy Smith (Taron Egerton), a young man in a romantic relationship with Ronnie (who is refreshingly open about his sexuality), are present but sidelined for the most part. Even when characters do get a chance to play a meaningful role, they are swallowed by Hardy’s performance, which overshadows everyone else’s entirely.
“I think one of the best ways to figure out questions in your life is to creatively express them.” Ms Humphries also believes it is important to address social issues, such as gender identity and women’s “power, strength and beauty”, through her art. The Hillbrook Anglican School student’s award-winning piece, Thick Skin She Grows, fashioned from copper, tin and wire, is inspired by feminism. “It represents the thick skin of women’s battle armour,” said Ms Humphries, who hopes to study fashion design at university next year. “The armour’s grown from the pain and the suffering of women throughout history in their battle for equality.” She said having her artwork featured at GOMA at South Brisbane next year was “pretty surprising and pretty amazing”. ashmere poet Vanessa Page will launch her new chapbook at Dayboro this weekend. A collaboration between Page and John Koenig, China Bull is the true story of Page’s great grandmother Annie Caroline Dixon, who lived in and around the Mitchell district at the turn of the 20th century. “When researching my family history... I stumbled across a newspaper article from 1909 that gave a major insight into her life, and particularly, into the love story that would have been quite shocking in its day,” Page explained. “After putting a few initial ideas down on paper I had the thought that the introduction of a male voice would really strengthen the story, and that’s where John came in.” China Bull was the inaugural winner of the Work + Tumble Manuscript Prize. The official launch of China Bull is on 17 October at Rendezvous at Dayboro, 1 William Street, Dayboro from 2pm. Page and Koenig will perform the awardwinning manuscript in full at Saturday’s book launch, and signed copies of the limited edition letterpress printed poetry chapbook will be available for purchase. www.thewesterner.com.au

ashmere’s Tayla Harris continues to spread the word about women’s Aussie Rules football, by featuring on the biggest night on the Australian Football League (AFL) calendar. The teenager presented the Mark of the Year award at the AFL’s night of nights – the Brownlow Medal awards – held in Melbourne on 28 September. The awards were broadcast around Australia on Channel 7 and the Fox Footy channel on Fox Sports. “(It) was an incredible experience to be in the same room as the (AFL) greats, my idols,” Harris said of attending the awards with her father, Warren Harris. She said presenting an award with 226-game AFL star turned commentator Luke Darcy was “an honour I’ll always remember”. “It was a huge honour to attend the night, let alone present,” Harris said. The 18-year-old wasn’t able to hand the award to its recipient, Nic Naitanui, in person, as the West Coast Eagles player was in Perth preparing for his team’s AFL grand final clash with the Hawthorn Hawks that weekend.
The Westerner, Thursday 15 October, 2015
However, Harris was surrounded by a galaxy of footy stars at the black-tie event held at the Crown Palladium. “I sat at a table with (Geelong Cats AFL players) Corey Enright and Jimmy Bartel who were lovely but I met a lot of other players who were all lovely,” she said. Harris said the highlight of the night was the “genuine excitement” at seeing Brownlow Medal favourite and Fremantle Dockers player Nat Fyfe – “such a deserving player and down to earth individual” – win the AFL’s player of the year award. Harris was invited to present the Mark of the Year award after taking her own spectacular high-flying grab while playing for the Melbourne Demons in the Women’s AFL match against the Western Bulldogs last year. Footage of the high-flying mark featured in television commercials promoting the 2015 AFL season. Harris also played for the Demons in two women’s AFL games against the Bulldogs this year. She hopes to be drafted to play in a proposed national women’s AFL competition, earmarked for kick-off in 2017.

Nate strikes winning form in Japan
g n i t r o p s My life
A
Samford Valley baseball player has brought a new career highlight back with him from Japan. Nate Vankan’s Australian Under-18 team entered the recent junior world championships in Osaka ranked 14th in the world. Yet the Australian team belied its lowly tournament seeding, beating some of the world’s top baseball nations to finish one win away from a bronze medal. Australia started the tournament with big wins over Mexico and Brazil, then lost to world number one Japan and world number two USA, before toppling Czech Republic and Cuba. Eventually Australia fell just short of winning the bronze medal game against South Korea, conceding three runs in the final two innings to lose 8-5. “Right from the get-go we were pretty confident in our team, Vankan said. “Probably the biggest game was against Cuba; they’re third in the world. “We were tying in the last inning and they had loaded bases, one out and we
Samford Valley’s Nate Vankan represented the Australian Under-18 baseball team, which surpassed expectations at the recent junior world championships in Japan.
somehow got out of the inning with no runs (conceded), and then we scored. “That was the best game because it was my birthday that day and I got three hits. Vankan was selected in the Australian team after impressing at the national championships in Sydney and at a threetraining week camp on the Gold Coast, which included games against Canada. The Pine Hills Lightning player, who has also played baseball in New Zealand and China, said it was “pretty awesome to represent Australia.
“I feel pretty proud to listen to your name being called out and sing the national anthem, Vankan said. “It (Australian selection) was pretty cutthroat... and when some of your mates don’t make the team, it’s pretty rough. “It’s a bit scary the whole time, worrying every time you’re at bat... but once you get in the team it’s a relief. The St Paul’s School student has been playing baseball since he was four years old and has ambitions to play college ball in America.
