The program is supported through funding from the Central Berkshire Fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and the Collaborative for Educational Services. “The goal is to help families create their own safety nets,” says
Mollie Hartford, Co-Executive Director of It Takes a Village. “There are so many resources available to families, and this program is a way to get everyone connected.” The film and speaker series will take place at the Berkshire Trail Elementary School Building in Cummington, the same location where It Takes a Village houses their donation site, The Village Closet. Free childcare will be provided during the film, and families are invited to stay afterwards for refreshments and discussion. Technical assistance for the film screening is being provided by Northampton Community Television. The support groups and classes include “Families of Spirited Children” in Williamsburg, “Moms with Mugs” in Ashfield and Cummington, and “LGBTQIA+ Families” in Haydenville. Free childcare is provided during the groups, and refreshments are provided by Bread Euphoria in Williamsburg. It Takes a Village has also partnered with Sunflower Yoga and Mindfulness to offer free monthly “Mindful Parenting” classes and weekly “Caregiver and Baby Yoga” classes in Cummington. For more information on each group and a schedule of events, please visit www.hilltownvillage.org/news-andevents/. It Takes a Village provides free postpartum support for
