PIOUS PASSIONS
in heightened anticipation as I woke up from my erotic dream. I opened my eyes only to find myself lying on the bed, my body tingling with the residual sensation of the dream. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart, until I realised that the only person who could bring my erotic fantasies to fruition was nowhere around me.
Isquirmed
My clitoris awakened as I suddenly felt inside of me, this deep throbbing begging to be deliciously pleasured. I decided to take matters into my hands as the throbbing between my legs grew intense. I slide my hand down my body, using my fingers to trace a path along my stomach until they reach the source of my arousal.
I closed my eyes and let out a soft moan as I began to explore my clitoris with my fingertips. I started with slow, circular movements, building tension with each pass. As the pleasure grew, I increased the speed and pressure of my touch, feeling the pleasure build with every stroke. I focused all my attention on the sensation, my body writhing with pleasure as the tension built toward its peak. The sensation became too much for me to bear; I let out a cry of ecstasy as the orgasm washed over me. I felt my body convulse with pleasure as my fingers were still working to prolong the experience.
Wanting more, I pulled my fingers out, reached into the bedside drawer, and took out my dildo. I smiled as I retrieved my favourite pink dildo from the drawer. I ran the dildo along my inner thigh, teasing myself with the sensation of the smooth, cool material against my skin. I took a deep breath and slowly slid it inside me, feeling the fullness and pressure against my walls.
I experimented with different speeds and angles, finding the perfect rhythm that would take me higher and higher. The dildo filled me, and I felt my body responding to its touch. As the pleasure grew, I increased the speed and pressure of my movements, feeling the tension building toward its peak. My moans filled the air as I lost myself in the pleasure, my body writhing and pulsing with every thrust. I grabbed a pillow to muffle out the loudness of my moans.
I cried out as the orgasm washed over me, splattering delicious cum on my dildo. I lay there on the bed, panting and exhausted from my deeply delicious escapade. I took a moment to catch my breath. I could feel my body alive with pleasure, every nerve ending tingling with sensation.
I smiled to myself as I surveyed the scene around me. My bed was a mess of tangled sheets and a discarded sex toy, a testament to the pleasure I had just experienced.
With a satisfied sigh, I lean over and switch off my pink dildo, setting it aside on the bedside table. I felt the last echoes of pleasure fade away as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
As I lay there, basking in the afterglow, I wasn’t sure if I was doing the wrong or right thing. The thought of Steven catching me with the sex toy sent a shiver down my spine. I knew that what I was doing could be considered cheating, but I had
After we got married, I discovered that Steven was not interested in exploring different sex styles. He preferred the missionary position, and anything beyond that was considered sinful and not in line with his faith. At first, I tried to accept Steven’s beliefs, but as time passed, I felt frustrated and unfulfilled. I had needs and desires that Steven seemed unwilling to fulfil.
I had tried to talk to Steven about my needs and desires, but he never seemed to understand. He would shut down the conversation, insisting that what I was asking for was sinful and not in line with God’s plan. Apart from that, if he was not busy with church, he would be busy with work; he was always too tired to make time for me, leaving me
and not judge me. Maybe there was a way I could save my marriage and, at the same time, find the sexual satisfaction that I craved.
I decided to keep my secret, hoping he would not find out. For the main time, I decided to continue exploring my body and find the pleasure I needed, even if it meant doing them in secret. At least, it was better than cheating on him with another man.
As I drifted off to sleep, I knew the road ahead would be difficult, but I was determined to find a way to be true to myself and discover the happiness I deserved.

DOWNTOWN CONFIDENTIAL
KING CHARLES III
The Commonwealth Has A New Head
BY KEHINDÉ FAGBULE
King
Charles III, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, has lived his life in the shadow of the British monarchy, having had to wait the longest— he was only three years old when his mother, Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne in 1952, making him the heir apparent— to be crowned king or queen thanks to his mother’s formidable longevity on the throne. The 74 years old King was made Prince of Wales in 1958 when he was 10 years old, and his investiture was held in 1969, a decade later. Despite the many challenges he has faced along the way, he has remained steadfast in his commitment to duty and service and has now taken the throne this weekend, May 6.
Charles was born on November 14, 1948, and was immediately thrust into the public eye as the heir to the throne. He was educated at Gordonstoun School in Scotland and later went on to study at Trinity College, Cambridge. Throughout his youth, he was known for his interest in the arts and his passion for environmental conservation.
As he grew older, Charles became increasingly involved in public life, taking on numerous charitable causes and travelling extensively on behalf of the British monarchy. In 1981, he married Lady Diana Spencer, and the couple had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Remembering Diana King
Charles III and Lady Diana Spencer got married on June 29, 1981, when he was the Prince of Wales, in a highly publicized and extravagant ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. At the time of their marriage, Charles was 32 years old, and Diana was just 20.
Their relationship began in 1977 when Charles was dating Diana’s older sister, Lady Sarah. Diana and Charles became reacquainted in 1980 when they were guests at the same country weekend event. They began dating soon after, and their relationship quickly became the subject of media attention.
Despite their initial attraction, Charles and Diana’s marriage was troubled from the beginning. Charles was known to have had an ongoing relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, whom he had met in the early 1970s. Diana reportedly became aware of this relationship early on in their courtship, and it caused tension between the couple.
Their marriage was also plagued by other issues, such as Diana’s struggles with bulimia and depression, Charles’ busy schedule and absence from home, and differences in their personalities and interests. The media scrutiny and public pressure on them also added to the strain on their relationship.
In 1992, after years of speculation and rumours about their marriage, Charles and Diana announced their separation. They were officially divorced in 1996, one year before Diana’s tragic death in a car accident in Paris, survived by her two sons whom King Charles had to raise alone.
Although their marriage was fraught with difficulties, Charles and Diana’s relationship played a significant role in the history of the British monarchy and continues to be the subject of fascination and study.
Despite his personal challenges, Charles has remained dedicated to his duties as a member of the royal family. He has worked tirelessly to promote causes close to his heart, including environmentalism and interfaith dialogue. Charles has been a controversial figure throughout his life. He has been criticized for his outspokenness and his perceived lack
of empathy. However, he is also a popular figure among many people who admire his commitment to his work and his dedication to public service.
Issues and Succession
King Charles III is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He has two children from his first marriage to Princess Diana and one child from his second marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles.
His first child is Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, who was born on June 21, 1982. He is currently second in line to the British throne, after his father, and is married to Catherine Middleton, now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The couple has three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The King’s second child is Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who was born on September 15, 1984. He is sixth in line to the British throne and is married to Meghan Markle, now Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, a marriage that brought an unending drama to the royal family, culminating in the couple’s eventual relocation to California, United States. The couple, who have since both stepped away from senior royal duties, has two children: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Charles III’s third child is from his second marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles. Her name is Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and she was born on July 17, 1947. Camilla is not in the line of succession to the British throne as she is a consort, not a reigning monarch.
An Institutional Cultural Significance
In our history, there were not as many mentions of the King as his mother, who was also Nigeria’s official Queen when we were a sovereign state and an independent constitutional monarchy between 1960 and 1963. However, as the monarch of the former colonial power that once ruled Nigeria, King Charles III and the British monarchy still hold a symbolic significance in Nigeria, and the country’s political, social, and cultural history is closely linked to its colonial past. The relationship between the two countries remains significant. Today, the King

has no official or personal relationship with Nigeria beyond the normal diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Nigeria as two sovereign nations.
Last year, on November 9, President Buhari met with King Charles III in Buckingham Palace in a meeting that, according to the President, was to foster Nigeria’s bilateral relationship with the UK. In an interview after meeting with the 73-year-old monarch, Buhari noted that Nigeria is a large market and it is wise for the business relationship between the two countries to be nurtured. “Firstly, we are to meet with the king in Kigali, but unfortunately, the meeting was postponed. He is interested very much in Nigeria, maybe because of Nigeria’s relationship with Britain for long, our economic strength, I think we are still of great attachment to them. The king speaks very well of Nigeria and wants the relationship to continue and if possible, improve,” reported the outgoing president. On the entertainment front, Tiwa Savage’s performance at the coronation was also another indication of the significant cultural exchange between both countries across borders.
All Hail The British King, New Head of The Commonwealth
This weekend, May 6, 2023, Charles III was officially crowned king in a ceremony steeped in tradition and pomp. The coronation— a momentous occasion for the British people, marks the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s history.
Before taking the throne, Charles had said that he was committed to continuing the legacy of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and to serving the British people with honour and distinction. While he faces many challenges ahead, he is confident that with the support of his family and his subjects, he can rise to the occasion and lead his country with wisdom and grace.
As King, Charles is expected to continue to undertake official duties and engagements on behalf of the country. He is also likely to continue to speak out on issues that are important to him. It remains to be seen how he will shape the monarchy in the years to come.

Decorating WITH PLANTS
How to Incorporate Greenery Into Your Space
BY DORCAS AKINTOYE
Adding
greenery to your space is one of the best ways to improve your home aesthetics. Apart from the fact that it makes your home look inviting, it can also help improve the air quality and, at the same time, provide a natural focal for your room. Many people are unsure how to add inviting greenery to their home decor, but we have some tips to help you do this seamlessly.
1.CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLANT
Consider lighting, humidity, and temperature when choosing plants for your home decor. Some plants need more sunlight than others, and some survive in low-light conditions. Similarly, some plants also require more humidity and warmth; this is why you should go for plants that will be comfortable in your home environment.
3.USE UNIQUE PLANTERS
Consider using unique planters to add some visual interest to your space. You can use ceramic pots, woven baskets, or repurposed containers like teacups or mason jars. All you have to do is ensure that the planter is the right size for your plant and, most importantly, has proper drainage.
2.ADD PLANTS TO DIFFERENT ROOMS
You can incorporate plants into any room in the house, from the living room to the bathroom. You can add statement plants like tall ficus or monstera to your living room and smaller plants like succulents or snake plants to your bedroom to create a calming atmosphere. The list goes on and on.
5.ADD HANGING PLANTS
One way to add greenery to your home decor without taking up space is by hanging plants. You can hang them using a macrame plant hanger, hooks, or shelving to suspend them from the ceiling or walls. Hanging plants also can add a whimsical touch to your home, and it also helps in creating a sense of height.
4.GROUP PLANTS TOGETHER
You can create a lush and natural feel by grouping plants. You can group them in varying heights and textures on a plant stand, or better still; you can cluster them on a shelf or table. Another advantage of grouping plants is that it will make them easy to care for, as you can water them all at once.

The Truth About Skin pH
Understanding Why it Matters AND HOW TO BALANCE IT
BY DORCAS AKINTOYE
We all must have seen several beauty product commercials that talk about the product being “pH balanced” for healthy skin. Those advertisements likely left you and tons of others wondering what on earth PH measurement has to do with soap, moisturiser, or whatever beauty product they may be advertising.
The term “pH” means “Potential hydrogen”; it measures the concentration of hydrogen ions in any substance. In other words, it measures relative acidity. The human skin comprises oils and sweat that produce a barrier to protect itself against environmental stressors and bacteria. This barrier is what determines skin pH levels. The pH scale ranges from 0 (most acidic) to 14 (most alkaline). When your skin pH is balanced between acidic and alkaline (clocking in at around 5 on a scale of 0-14), your skin will be more likely to stay healthy and hydrated.
As we’ve stated earlier, your skin is at its best when there is a balance between its acidity and alkalinity. The moment you throw it off track, your skin will go crazy. When our skin’s acid mantle has too much alkaline, our skin becomes sensitive and dry. You might start to develop inflammations and even signs of ageing due to certain enzymes that can destroy your collagen levels. In most cases, this usually happens when you change your skin care products too often. Products with high pH (alkaline) affect the permeability of your skin, and when the permeability of your skin is compromised, it becomes vulnerable to skin issues, irritants, and microorganisms. Ideally, our skin should be slightly acidic, meaning that its pH level should be 5.5; it’s okay if it is somewhere between 4.8 and 6. When your skin pH is between those scales, your akin barriers function so actively that it guides and protect you against all toxins, bacteria, and other external factors.
It isn’t easy to measure the pH of the skin directly. However, a dermatologist can help you determine it by using a pH meter to analyse your skin surface, identify any shift in your pH level, and evaluate your skin condition or the state of your skin issues. There are still many ways to determine if your pH levels are off-balance. Usually, your skin will give you signs when something is not right, keep an eye out for these signs excessive oiliness, dry patches, redness and rashes, eczema, acne, and psoriasis, among others. All these are signs that your skin’s acid mantle is damaged. Having known that, several factors and habits can disrupt your skin’s pH levels. They include age, excessive sun exposure, eating habits, harsh soaps and cleansers, hard water, etc.
Balancing the pH of your skin is important to maintain healthy skin aks prevent various skin issues. Below are some ways to balance the skin’s pH.

BEAUTY
USE A GENTLE CLENSER MOISTURISE
Always use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser to wash your face. Avoid using soap or cleansers that can damage the skin’s natural pH balance.

AVOID HOT WATER
Hot water can strip your skin of natural oils and disrupt pH balance. Instead, use lukewarm water to wash your face.
AVOID OVEREXFOLIATING
Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, but over-exfoliating can disrupt the skin’s pH balance. Reduce your exfoliating routine to once or twice a week.
Moisturising the skin helps a lot in balancing its natural pH balance. Look for a pH-balanced moisturiser that contains natural ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin.
USE A TONER
After cleansing, a toner can help in balancing the skin’s pH. Go for a toner that contains natural ingredients at the same time, alcoholfree.

MANAGE STRESS
Stress can disrupt the skin’s pH balance. Try practising stress management techniques, which include meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
EAT A BALANCED DIET
One way to maintain healthy skin is by having a balanced diet. Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

MOVIE REVIEW:
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
WATCH OF THE WEEK
SWEET TOOTH
Oneof the few upsides of the pandemic was that it erased all memories of Robert Downey Jr’s atrocious Dr Doolittle movie.
The February 2020 stinker, in which the blockbuster star method-acted opposite chatting tigers and farting dragons, sank like a lead baboon. Yet it did little to quench the animal passions of Downey Jr, who was soon circling back to the same theme of talking furballs as executive producer of 2021 Netflix fantasy drama Sweet Tooth
remorselessly. Abbot, however, suspects the children’s DNA can be used to fight the plague. He has, to that end, forced Doctor Singh (Adeel Akhtar) to experiment on a group of imprisoned hybrids. They include not only Gus but a child who looks like an elephant and a girl with a pig-like nose.
Mario is the most easily recognizable video game character in the world.
He’s also a blank slate intended for the player to project themselves onto. While the worlds that he visits are imaginative and unique, practically bursting at the seams with zany ideas and creative enemy designs, Mario himself isn’t allowed any of those eccentricities outside of the occasionally goofy outfit that he dons and the odd noises that he fires off.
And yet, having a blank slate for a protagonist works perfectly fine in the context of an actionadventure video game where the draw is the gameplay, which, if anything, helps keep the focus squarely on having a lot of fun, which is the primary aim of the Super Mario Bros. games anyway. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, though, advances that governing principle to largely flavorless ends, refusing to do anything original or all that interesting with the gaming icon. The order of the day here is cheap fan service.
There’s some minor exposition at the start of the film about how Mario (Chris Pratt) and his brother, Luigi (Charlie Day), feel unloved by their father and wish to prove their self-worth, which leads them to finding a warp pipe while out on a job and eventually landing in the Mushroom Kingdom. Once dropped into Princess Peach’s (Anya Taylor-Joy) domain, it’s full steam ahead, for better and worse. While there’s an impressively breathless momentum to the film, it barrels toward its set pieces with little regard for establishing much in the way of emotional stakes, unless you consider beating Bowser (Jack Black) and saving Luigi from his clutches to be the pinnacle of conflict resolution.
Far too often, The Super Mario Bros. Movie feels like it’s simply content to check off to-do notes and scratch the viewer’s nostalgia itch. That is, the film is a series of Easter eggs in search of a story. Mario flies with the Tanooki Suit at one point for no reason other than the famed power-up is thrown his way; the obligatory joke is made about “our Princess” being “in another castle”; and all the heroes race go-karts on Rainbow Road at one point.
Luckily, the film’s voice cast acquits themselves
well. Pratt’s voice work as Mario is cheerful and accurate to the video games, while Black is having a lot of fun as Bowser, Mario and Luigi’s evil comic foil, who, as in the original Super Mario Odyssey, has marriage on the brain (he even rocks the same white top hat that he did in that game). In keeping with some sense of established modern-day canon, Peach, in opposition to her damsel-in-distress origins and more in line with the free-spirited glow-up she was given in Super Mario Odyssey, gets to outshine Mario at nearly every turn. And it’s a vaguely feminist angle that Taylor-Joy revels in.
Sadly, Luigi gets the short end of the stick here. Since he mostly exists as a second fiddle to his brother in the games, he’s always been allocated the greatest amount of wiggle room in terms of how he operates within the context of one Mario’s adventures. But here he’s closer in spirit to the Luigi of Luigi’s Mansion: as a total scaredy-cat in need of constant saving, and Charlie Day really leans into his typical antic, high-pitched shtick that he honed during his days on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The film, then, does relatively little to justify its existence outside of serving as a brand extension. It’s bright, bounces from one nostalgia-soaked moment to the next, and is meticulously designed to be as inoffensive as possible. But while presenting the longstanding characters of the Super Mario Bros. universe in the most innocuous light imaginable may please shareholders, given the innovative design of many a Super Mario Bros. game, would it have been too much for the film’s story to be a little more, well, super?
Rating: 6/10
The series, adapted from a cult DC Comics graphic novel, told the story of a young boy named Gus (Christian Convery), born with the ears and antlers of a deer in a post-apocalyptic North America devastated by a deadly virus. Given the world was staggering from lockdown to lockdown, the obvious criticism was that Netflix’s timing was less than stellar.
The show side-stepped such complaints with its sunny aura. The vibe was Mad Max crossed with My Little Pony and, given the circumstances, it was far more heartwarming than it had any right to be.
Two years on, Sweet Tooth’s enjoyably pacy second season arrives with the real pandemic now a fading memory. There’s not much blood and no sex across eight agreeably action-packed episodes, while James Brolin is back as the folksy narrator introducing each instalment. Still, when it’s scary it really goes there. At one point, a wellmeaning yet
obsessed doctor is revealed to have lobotomised a talking crocodile. He then uses the victim’s brain tissue to create a potential antidote for a deadly virus (albeit off-screen). Try explaining that to your curious seven-year-old.
The bleaker atmosphere is justified given that Gus is now a prisoner of crazed fascists, the Last Men. They are led by the evil General Abbot (Neil Sandilands).
The Last Men are (not unreasonably) fixated on finding a cure for the H5G9 virus that ravaged mankind and created a generation of children with animal features. The general assumption is these mutant kids – Gus included – spread the virus. And so they are hunted down
The success of recent HBO blockbuster The Last of Us confirmed Covid hasn’t put audiences off fictional pandemics. Of course, Sweet Tooth had already demonstrated that point when it was a medium-sized hit for Netflix two years ago. Series two may be darker, as already pointed out. But it’s brisk and big-hearted, too.
