Our educational program is on fire! Our community is fired up! The love of learning is sizzling!
As we celebrate the success of our 2023-2024 school year, we are eagerly anticipating the commemoration of 30 years of educational excellence in 2024-2025. We honor the success of the past year, but also recognize the continuing depth and excitement of our dynamic program that has grown from serving 93 to 479 students annually. We will continue to feed the flame of deep thinking, problem solving, and life-long learning to nimbly light the way for future educational success.
Experiential learning has always been a cornerstone of The Willow’s balanced, progressive educational approach. With hands-on learning our students become owners of their education. Our faculty and staff strive to make learning come alive and personal for our students. We do not focus solely on the rote filling of minds like adding water to a pail, but rather work diligently to ignite a desire to learn, investigate, and question. Fundamentals and innovation are joined as powerful learning tools in our open, multicultural environment that is ideal for discovery, inquiry, and growth. Our children light up with aha moments that are our reward.
The “lighting of a fire” is a collaborative process–teachers confer with and motivate their colleagues, students bond with teachers, students cooperate with each other, our parent community and school partner, and our extended community and all of Los Angeles are often invited on campus.
Working together, we have been on fire this year with many firsts:
• This year’s spring fundraiser set a record raising $348,789 for financial assistance
• Belonging Through Connection became the driving force of our DEI initiatives which included community dinners and gatherings before events and the resurgence of student affinity groups
Let’s celebrate our unique, vibrant educational program this year and every year and acknowledge that we are igniting dreams and making a bold difference in the future of education.

The 2023-2024 school-wide theme was
STRENGTH.
We examined the strength that we have as both individuals and as a community, and the lasting strength of a Willows education that motivates our students to believe in themselves, their ideas, and their voices. We investigated the aspects of struggle that lead to strength and how to develop the strength to be yourself, take appropriate risks, and be an upstander. We encouraged our students to believe in themselves and to embrace their strength to impact the future of our nation and global society.

Our Prom was most definitely flaming with fun, friendship, and a fervent desire to give to The Willows! Our parents set the night on fire as they bid on fabulous items, danced to songs from many prom eras, and lifted their paddles high to raise a phenomenal amount–the highest total in Willows history.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance has always been a core value of The Willows since our founding and is the cornerstone of our community. We are firmly committed to offering a Willows educational opportunity to as many deserving students as possible. By embracing and being enlightened by different viewpoints, cultures, and perspectives, we enrich the lives and learning experiences of our students and community.
