Cattle Baron’s Gal a Benefiting the American Cancer Society

We’re Buckling Up to Cure Cancer!

Welcome to this evening’s gala and thank you so much for supporting us in our efforts to help cancer patients in South Texas. This devastating disease has affected so many people in our community and we are no different. We were fortunate to have the resources to get us through that difficult time. Some are not so lucky. Many patients depend upon the American Cancer Society for transportation and other necessary resources to help them through their journey with cancer. Please consider extending your support by donating to the raffle, silent and live auctions and other fundraisers

tonight to help the American Cancer Society expand their help to these patients. We thank our guests, sponsors and all of the hard working individuals who served on the many committees created to hold an event of this magnitude. Because of your efforts, we all made this a sell-out event! Enjoy the evening! Sincerely,

Jaime & Lori Wesolowski

the American Cancer Society

LEAVE ITS MARK ON THE WORLD. It’s very fulfilling to work with an organization like the American Cancer Society. Not only because of the work that they do. But because of the work they allow us to do. Frankly, we’re not sure which we like better: working for a good cause, or working for a good client. Thankfully, with the American Cancer Society, we don’t have to choose.

A longtime friend of the American Cancer Society, Don Strange, the patriarch of the internationally renowned catering company, Don Strange of Texas Inc., passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the age of 69. Don Strange and his wife Frances were the Co-chairs of the American Cancer Society Cattle Baron’s Gala in 2009. Strange is best known for his larger than life presence, passion for his family and his life-long love of Texas cuisine. Don Strange is often credited by many for putting Texas on the culinary map. Don was part of the Cattle Baron’s Gala from the beginning. Starting with the first Cattle Baron’s in Dallas, Don created the signature menu and style of Cattle Baron’s. As the Cattle Baron’s expanded — cities across Texas called on Don Strange to help them create successful events. Over the years Don helped the American Cancer Society raise millions of dollars for the fight against cancer by creating incredible parties that kept guest coming back year after year.

Those diagnosed with cancer face many medical, physical, and emotional issues surrounding the disease. Their only hope can mean hundreds of trips to doctors, specialists, hospitals, and treatments. This presents a serious challenge for those who do not have access to transportation to get to their treatment. Without treatment their hope is gone.

A proactive program available for patients with chronic conditions such as Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, Ischemic Heart Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Asthma.

Changing the face of healthcare delivery for Seniors.

The American Cancer Society’s patient transportation program ensures these patients a ride to their life-saving treatment and gives them a whole lot of hope. Methodist Healthcare Ministries has donated $100,000 towards this program. Our goal is to match that amount. During the gala you will have the opportunity to give to this important cause, if you are unable to attend you can make a donation using the enclosed replay card.

Since then, it has become the largest fundraising event for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. It has netted more than $7 million for cancer education, support, research, and advocacy.
