STUDENTS AND PARENTS OF THE WOODEN FLOOR ARE EXPECTED TO:

Advising meetings • Refrain from eating inside the building; including

Academic Advising meetings or the dressing rooms, and use the courtyard instead at both locations • Refrain from chewing gum anywhere on campus, including in the courtyard, at either location • Remember that electronic devices, including cell phones, may only be used in the Sutton Lobby of the Main Street location and in the courtyards of both the Main Street and

Depot at Santiago locations – they will be confiscated if used elsewhere

OUR COMMITMENT TO A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

We are committed to creating a safe environment that protects everyone at The Wooden Floor. Behavior that jeopardizes the health, safety, or well-being of The Wooden Floor students, faculty, staff, parents, or guests is not permitted. The Wooden Floor has the option to dismiss a student or family if inappropriate or unsafe behavior is exhibited, including but not limited to: • Foul language, especially when directed at another person • Verbal abuse, humiliation, teasing, and gossiping • Physical abuse • Bullying • Prejudice or discrimination of any kind, including any of the “isms”: racism, sexism, etc. • Discrimination regarding sexual orientation or gender identity • Discrimination against religious choice or practice • Any destruction of property, including graffiti • Gang involvement • Inappropriate or offensive attire • Inappropriate use of social media such as threats, perceived threats, bullying, humiliation, gossiping, or harm. Much of the above behaviors are unlawful in the United States, and may be subject to prosecution.

IF DISCIPLINE CHALLENGES ARISE

In the event a student behaves inappropriately, staff members will intervene to achieve positive changes. Depending on the severity of the behavior, some or all of the following steps will be taken: • A staff member will speak with the student • Parents of the student will be notified • A written record of the incident will be placed in the student’s permanent file • The student may be removed from class • The student may be removed from the Annual Concert or lose field trip and camp privileges • The student may be referred to counseling services • A discipline contract may be created and presented to the student and parent • The student may be placed on probation, suspended, or expelled In addition to the steps listed above, The Wooden Floor retains the prerogative to dismiss a student for inappropriate behavior at any time. Repetitive inappropriate behavior, regardless of the level of seriousness, may also result in dismissal from The Wooden Floor.

THE WOODEN FLOOR SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Students of The Wooden Floor under the age of 18, or who have not graduated high school, may not “friend,” “connect,” “follow,” or have any other linked connection on the internet with staff, faculty, musicians, board members, officers, or independent contractors of The Wooden Floor. Students who join The Wooden Floor’s social media fan pages, feeds, or channels should directly reflect the values of the organization when interacting with other students, fans, followers, or subscribers. Posts or interactions that do not follow this policy may be subject to removal. The Wooden Floor Alumni are encouraged to join The Wooden Floor’s Facebook Fan Page, Alumni Network Facebook Group, and the Alumni Professional Network on Linkedin and stay connected with the staff and fellow students who fostered their growth while at The Wooden Floor.

QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, & GRIEVANCES

Any questions or concerns should be addressed directly to the Director of Student Development. More serious concerns should be brought to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer. All staff members are committed to working with families to make certain that questions or concerns are resolved in an appropriate and respectful manner.
