APRIL 2018 EDITION
THE WOODLANDS UMC
POINT A MESSAGE FROM
DON MEADOR PASTOR TO SENIOR ADULTS
One of our great Easter hymns begins with this verse: Easter People raise your voices, sounds of heaven in earth should ring. Christ has brought us heaven’s choices; heavenly music, let it ring. Alleluia! Alleluia! Easter people, let us sing.
FEBRUARY PRIME TIMERS Gay Lindner, actress Mary Margaret Mann, Ann Armstrong, and Dr. Mark Lewis
Our February Prime Timers luncheon featured actress, Mary Margaret Mann, who performed “How Do I Love Thee” based on the life of poetess, Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Ann Armstrong decorated the tables with lovely potted flowering cyclamen, and the person at each table who had the closest birthday took the plant home. Helen Burgdorf gave a devotional on Love, Rev. Don Meador said the prayer, and Harold Kerr gave a personal profile on Dale and Lynn Birran. As he does each month, Charlie Lindahl, blessed the group with his piano music. Please join us at our Prime Timers luncheon in Wesley Hall on April 4 when our entertainment will be the Happy Strings Ukulele Band.

NEW CROSS
IN ALDERSGATE HALL Rev. Don Meador with Linda Owen, who recently donated the cross for Aldersgate Hall in memory of her late husband, Larry Gene Iles.
Through these words we are reminded that, with the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter morning, heaven has come to earth. We are reminded that those who are “in Christ” not only have the sure hope of heaven somewhere, sometime in the future, but also the joy of joining in experiencing heaven here on earth. The Book of Revelation, Chapter 21 proclaims the time will come when there will be a new heaven and a new earth. And Christians believe this transformation has begun with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. With this in mind, let us be about the work of “the Kingdom of heaven” right here. For with every act of love, gratitude and kindness; every work of art and music inspired by the love of God; every act of care and nurture, of comfort and support; and every prayer, every deed that spreads the Gospel, that embraces holiness rather than corruption, and makes the name of Jesus honored in the world, will find its way into the new creation that God will one day make. So let us continue to celebrate Easter by being about the work of the Kingdom every day. In doing so, we experience a glimpse of heaven and move closer to the day when there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Alleluia! Easter people. Let us sing. Your Friend,
