JULY 2018 EDITION
THE WOODLANDS UMC
POINT A MESSAGE FROM
CLIFF RITTER PASTOR TO SENIOR ADULTS
HAPPY RETIREMENT, REV. DON MEADOR On Tuesday, June 6 the staff of The Woodlands UMC honored our friend, Rev. Don Meador and his re-retirement. Don came out of retirement in 2010 and has served as our Pastor of Senior Adult Ministry for the past eight years. Though he has retired (again), we are happy that we will still be seeing a lot of Don and Kay here at our church.
Summer in South Texas is a special treat! If you love walking out your front door to a wet sauna and temperatures in the upper 90’s, then you might assume you are experiencing heaven on earth. The only relief comes in the form of your neighborhood pool or a quick trip to the mountains. It doesn’t help to complain, I find. I might get some argument, but any July day in the Woodlands is better than one of those freezing days in mid-January up North when you had to shovel snow to get out of your driveway. I find that’s especially true after you have lived here for a little while, like 10 years or so. How quickly we forget from whence we have come. Just the mention of snow and ice in the middle of the Texas summer helps us feel a little cooler, somehow. Last month’s trip to Minute Maid Park to see the Astros brought a moment of summer relief for a few of our diehard baseball fans. There’s something about going to the game at the ballpark that makes everything in life fall into place. A special word of thanks goes to those who help coordinate our off-campus events. I’m sure there will many more chances to celebrate an Astros win in the days to come.

Church offices will be closed on the 4th of July.
Of course, we will all be celebrating Independence Day on July 4th. I trust you will surround yourself with family, friends, fireworks and fun for the holiday. I’ll be out chasing redfish and trout in Matagorda Bay that week as part of my annual vacation. I hope to hit the ground running in the second week of July. I know you will be there with me. We have lots of exciting events and activities planned with Senior Adult Ministry in the months to come. Hold on! We’re just getting started! With grace and peace,
