DON MEADOR PASTOR TO SENIOR ADULTS
PRIME TIMERS ANNUAL BBQ On May 3, a large group of Senior Adults braved the rainy weather for, what turned out to be, a lovely day for a picnic at Burrough’s Park. Prime Timers meets at Burrough’s Park for a BBQ each May.

Please plan to join us for our next Prime Timers luncheon which is planned for June 7 in Wesley Hall, when Dr. Mark Lewis will be honoring our members who are ninety years and older. For more information, please see page 3.
I am a baseball fan. I am a Houston Astros baseball fan. And, at this point, I am a very happy Houston Astros fan because they have the best record in baseball. As I write this, their record is 26 wins and 12 losses, the best beginning in Astros history! I’ve found myself watching more games on TV and I’ve even been to Minute Maid Park three times already this year. And we will be joining a busload of seniors going to the game on Wednesday, June 14. It is indeed a great time to be an Astros fan! I have always maintained that when baseball season comes around life seems to be a little better. It is a game that nourishes us and teaches us many lessons and gives us an opportunity to relax and take our minds off the pressures of the day. And it is just plain fun to go to the ballpark, eat a hotdog, and root for your favorite team. Some of the best players of the game have also been wise philosophers. Here are some quotes that are good lessons for life: Never allow the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. — Babe Ruth Never permit the pressure to exceed the pleasure. — Joe Maddon My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was to keep swinging. — Hank Aaron
Margi Davies, Barbara Fulmer and Mary Kerr
Elzy Mowdy, Ralph Carlson and Glenna Wandling
Just keep going. Everybody gets better if they keep at it. — Ted Williams It is amazing what kind of lessons we can learn, even from the game of baseball. As we move into the days of summer, let us celebrate the gift of life and all the wonders and joys of God’s good creation, including baseball! Your friend,
Glenna Wandling
