Lecture 6:45pm) The Royal Collection contains countless objects including paintings, sculpture, furniture, jewellery and manuscripts collected from King Henry V111 to the present Queen. This lecture showcases its range and magnificence and the interests of individual monarchs and members of the Royal Family. Following service in the Foreign Office, Oliver Everett was Assistant Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales, Private Secretary to Diana, Princess of Wales, and Librarian in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle. He has written the official guidebook for Windsor Castle, articles on the Royal Library, assisted with books on the Royal Collection and advised on historical TV documentaries. Educated at Cambridge University, Tufts University, USA and the London School of Economics, Oliver lectures widely in Britain and abroad.

Members Only $75 (inc. canapés and refreshments) Booking: F1308 It is a rare treat to view a significant private art collection especially one that is so personal and eclectic. Friends’ Patron Trevor Eastwood, formerly Chair of AGWA and Wesfarmers, and his wife Judy, are avid collectors of local established and emerging WA artists’ work. Their collection is not bound by a curatorial or financial prerogative, which is why it so interesting. In an exclusively members only event, Friends are invited to view the Eastwood’s collection as our annual fundraiser. Tickets really are very limited, so book early because these opportunities are exceptional!
Sunday 14 April, 2 – 4pm Meet at Forrest St and Railway Parade Intersection, Cottesloe Cost: Members/Guests: Adults $15/$20, Children $10/$10, Family (2 adults + 2 children) $40/$50 (inc. refreshments & tour notes) Booking: F1310 Bike riding is a perfect way to view the growing sculpture collection dotted around Perth’s iconic seaside suburb in the company of Friends. From a lovers’ kiss to lighthouses and dreams, the tour is self-guided, 5km long, largely avoiding main roads and takes about two hours to ride at a leisurely pace. Bring the whole family, check that you have air in your tyres, your cogs are well-oiled, slop on the sunsceen and slap on your helmet and sunnies for an outdoor art adventure. Suitable for most age groups with a moderate level of fitness, we advise that responsibility for each individual’s health and safety is their own, or their guardian’s.
The Friends of the Art Gallery of WA is a self-funded, not-for-profit organisation that connects its members with a vibrant art focused community. Their program of events aims to provide educative and cultural experiences that encourage a deeper appreciation of the State Collection and the visiting exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, as well as the local art scene. Doors open 6pm. Lecture 6:45pm) William the Conqueror brought Jewish immigrants to England where they prospered until anti-Semitic attacks led to their expulsion in 1290. Returning in 1655 at the invitation of Cromwell, despite struggle and strife, they have not looked back. The East End accommodated an immigrant community for years and the colourful and symbolic traditions of the chosen people have survived. Born in Turkey, Yasha qualified as a lawyer in Jerusalem, settled in England in 1968 and has spent much of his working life in Latin America. He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards, has lectured extensively worldwide and he is the author of 11 books on collecting.
Zara is an art historian, curator and lecturer specialising in the art and culture of Tibet, the Himalayas and Mongolia. Initially based at the Victoria & Albert Museum, she has curated many exhibitions and in 2010 co-curated a major exhibition The Tiger in Asian Art.
