STUDY ON TEACHING APTITUDE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

ABSTRACT

ThepresentstudywasconductedontheteachingAptitudeof

betterinteachingaptitudethanthatoftheGovt.SecondarySchoolTeachers.

INTRODUCTION:

Education is fundamental to national development. Teachers play key role in nationalreconstruction.Teachersarerememberedandhonoredfromtimeimmemorialfortheirnoblecontributiontothesocietyinshapingthefuturedestinyof nation.Theschoolisaformalsetupofeducation.Thedevelopmentoftheschool restsonthefourmajorpillarssuchPhysicalassets,Academicassets,Teacherand learningqualityandLearningoutcomes.Theteacherhasparamountroleinnurturing,developingandmaximizingcountry'sreachtalentsandresourcesforthe good of individual, society, the country and the world as a whole. S/he truly shapesourchildrenwhoarethefutureofournation.Theacademicgrowthofthe classroomtransactionandacademicexcellencedependsupontheteachingaptitudeoftheteachers.ThepresentstudyisbasedonthestudyofTeachingAptitude ofSecondarySchoolTeachers.

To study the Teaching Aptitude of Rural and Urban Secondary School Teachers.

AnalysisandInterpretationofResult:

i) TeachingAptitudeofRuralandUrbanSecondarySchoolTeachers: The first objective of the study was to know the teaching aptitude of the Rural and Urban Secondary School Teachers. The hypothesis states that “There is no significant difference between rural and urban Secondary School Teachers in relation to their Teaching Aptitude”. Keeping this hypothesisinmindthedatawereanalyzedwiththehelpof't'testbetween the Mean TeachingAptitude Scale Scores of Rural and Urban Secondary SchoolTeachers.TheResultsaregiveninTable-1.

HYPOTHESESOFTHESTUDY:

ThereisnosignificantdifferencebetweenruralandurbanSecondarySchool TeachersinrelationtotheirTeachingAptitude.

There is no significant difference between male and female Secondary SchoolTeachersinrelationtotheirTeachingAptitude.

There is no significant difference between govt. and private Secondary SchoolTeachersinrelationtotheirTeachingAptitude.

Delimitation:

Thestudywasdelimitedtothe27secondaryschoolsofBolangiridistrict.

METHODOLOGYOFTHESTUDY:

Thesurveymethodwasfollowedtoconductthestudy

SampleoftheStudy:

Asampleof350teachersof27secondaryschoolsof BolangirDistrictofOdisha were selected for the purpose of study Out of the total sample 153 were Rural Teachersand197wereUrbanTeachers,188Teachersweremale&162Teacher werefemaleand173teachersbelongtoGovt.Schools&177teachersbelongto PrivateSchools.

TooloftheStudy:

TeachingAptitudeTestBattery(TATB)constructedbySmt.ShamimKarimand Prof.AshokKumarDixitwasusedforcollectingthedata.Theaimofthetestisto measuretheTeachingAptitudeofSecondarySchoolTeachers.Thereare8subtestsrelatedtoco-operativenature,considerativeness,wideinterest&Scholarly Test, Fair-mindedness & impartiality, moral character & discipline, optimistic attitude,motivationalaspectanddynamicpersonality Eachitemofthesubtests isframedtomeasurethedynamicpersonalityinateacher Thereisnotimelimit

The table reveals that the mean teaching aptitude scale scores of rural and urbansecondaryschoolteachersdonotdiffersignificantlyfromeachother Hencethenullhypothesisisaccepted.Itmeanstheteachingaptitudeofrural andurbansecondaryschoolteachersisnotdifferent.

ii) TeachingAptitudeofMaleandFemaleSecondarySchoolTeachers: Thesecondobjectiveofthestudywastoascertaintheteachingaptitudeof theMaleandFemaleSecondarySchoolTeachers.Thehypothesisstatesthat “There is no significant difference between Male and Female Secondary School Teachers in relation to their Teaching Aptitude”. Keeping this hypothesisinmindthedatawereanalyzedwiththehelpof't'testbetween the Mean TeachingAptitude Scale Scores of Male and Female Secondary SchoolTeachers.TheResultsaregiveninTable-2.

ThetablerevealsthatthemeanteachingaptitudescalescoresofMaleand Female secondary school teachers differ significantly from each other Hence the null hypothesis is rejected. It means the mean teaching aptitude scalescoresoffemalesecondaryschoolteachersishigherthanthatofmale secondaryschoolteachers.

iii) Teaching Aptitude of Government and Private Secondary School Teachers: Thethirdobjectiveofthestudywastofindouttheteachingaptitudeofthe GovernmentandPrivateSecondarySchoolTeachers.Thehypothesisstates that “There is no significant difference between Government and Private SecondarySchoolTeachersinrelationtotheirTeachingAptitude”.Keeping this hypothesis in mind the data were analyzed with the help of 't' test betweentheMeanTeachingAptitudeScaleScoresofGovernmentandPrivateSecondarySchoolTeachers.TheResultsaregiveninTable-3.

The table reveals that the mean teaching aptitude scale scores of Government and Private secondary school teachers differ significantly from each other Hencethenullhypothesisisrejected.ItmeansthemeanteachingaptitudescalescoresofPrivatesecondaryschoolteachersishigherthanthatof Governmentsecondaryschoolteachers.

FINDINGSOFTHESTUDY:

TheteachingAptitudeofRuralandUrbanSecondarySchoolteachersissimilar

The female Secondary School teachers are comparatively better than the TeachingAptitudeofmaleSecondarySchoolteachers.

The Private Secondary School teachers are comparatively better than the TeachingAptitudeofGovernmentSecondarySchoolteachers.
