INTERN, EVENTS The Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC) is the leading organization advancing diversity on Canada’s boards. Founded in 2009, the Council and its growing number of Founding and Corporate Member organizations are committed to creating a more globally competitive Corporate Canada, in part because more boards are comprised of directors who are the most qualified in a greatly expanded talent pool. The Council's definition expands the traditional board definition of industry experience, management experience, functional area of expertise, education, geography and age to also include gender, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and people with disabilities. The Council is seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual to join the team as an Intern, Events. You will be reporting to the Manager, Governance Education supporting event logistics and will work closely with the CBDC team providing administrative support. This is an exciting opportunity where you will gain hands on experience in event management. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Create and maintain event documents for the Get on Board Governance Education Program including registration lists, name badges, agendas, and other documents as assigned 2. Act as day-to-day point of contact for vendor and participant relationships 3. Assist with venue logistics such as boardroom set up, catering, A/V requirements 4. Compile, package and courier student learning materials for all Get on Board sessions in Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto 5. Act as on-site CBDC representative at select offsite Get on Board sessions in downtown Toronto (event set up and administration) 6. Provide general administrative support as requested ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Excellent organizational, problem solving and project management skills; Customer-focused and responsive; Excellent communications skills – interpersonal, telephone; High level of technical skills in MS Office and database management; Editing, writing and proofreading skills; Ability to work under pressure, prioritize projects/events and meet deadlines; Bilingualism is an asset.
