VP, CBDC COO Manager (Get on Board and Special Projects) Manager (Diversity 50 and ARC) Senior Coordinator, CBDC _____________________________________________________________________________________ Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC) The Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC) is the leading Canadian organization advancing diversity on Canada’s boards. Founded in 2009, the Council has since grown to 60 Founding and Corporate Member organizations that are committed to greater diversity in the Canadian workplace. The Council’s goal is to improve the diversity of Canada’s corporate boards. The Council's definition expands the traditional board definition of industry experience, management experience, functional area of expertise, education, geography and age to also include gender, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and people with disabilities. The VP, CBDC will provide key strategic leadership in growing the CBDC. He/She is responsible for the oversight of the development and execution of all programming including sales of the program across four cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. As well, this individual will serve as the main point-of-contact for all CBDC member organizations and stakeholders such as the Advisory Board and Working Committee. Key Accountabilities: Driving growth opportunities and providing strategic planning for CBDC. Providing strong leadership and expertise in project management to the CBDC team. Ensuring CBDC team goals and objectives are achieved in a timely manner. Ensuring CBDC achieves and exceeds its projected growth targets through business development and membership engagement activites. Growing a strong network of external stakeholders including partnerships and memberships in support of the CBDC’s mandate. Stewarding relationships with clients to increase membership activation, engagement and satisfaction. Overseeing execution of the Get on Board Governance Education program, including the new certification. Overseeing execution of research in conjunction with external partners to create and distribute an Annual Report Card (ARC) on diversity practices and outcomes on Canada’s boards. Creating content for educational programs, articles, conferences etc. Managing self-nomination process and selection committee vetting for Diversity 50, collaborating with CEO sponsors, Working Committee and external vendors. Overseeing meetings of various stakeholders and producing meeting minutes, as well as any supplementary materials in collaboration with the CBDC team. Overseeing key communications and marketing collateral (e.g. the Quarterly Report, website, videos, brochures, etc.). Overseeing the media and public relations efforts around Diversity 50 and ARC launch and other program communications. Overseeing website updates to ensure content is current and accurate. Ensuring a seamless annual member organization renewal process.
Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will be a business-minded individual with a solid track record of delivering results. More specifically, they will have:
Experience as an executive in an organization and experience in working with Boards. Experience serving as a Board Director, either in corporate, public or not-for-profit sectors. A university degree in a related field or equivalent combination of postsecondary education and work experience. Client management and/or sales experience. Experience with adult education would be an asset. A graduate degree would be considered an asset. Research experience with diversity and board governance would be an asset. Experience with event planning would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Excellent strategic planning and project management skills. Knowledge, experience and passion for superior customer service delivery and implementation of practices to deal effectively with a variety of clients and staff. Ability to adapt and react quickly to change by demonstrating a flexible approach. Superior communication and client service skills to effectively liaise with a diverse range of internal and external contacts in a positive, professional and tactful manner. Demonstrated capacity to identify and respond quickly to emerging issues and priorities. Meticulous attention for detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. Ability to handle multiple tasks, and balance continuous demands in a fast paced environment. Ability to motivate and lead a team.
