Vice President Chief Operating Officer Manager Manager Senior Coordinator _____________________________________________________________________________________ Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC) The Canadian Board Diversity Council is the leading Canadian organization advancing diversity on Canada’s boards. Founded in 2009, the Council and its growing number of Founding and Corporate Member organizations are committed to creating a more globally competitive Corporate Canada, in part because more boards are comprised of directors who are the most qualified in a greatly expanded talent pool. The Council's definition expands the traditional board definition of industry experience, management experience, functional area of expertise, education, geography and age to also include gender, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and people with disabilities. The Vice President will provide strategic leadership in growing the organization. She/he will be responsible for amplifying the brand and visibility of CBDC, and championing the delivery of programs and initiatives. This would include maintaining relationships with a wide array of stakeholders including Member Organizations, Corporate Partners, the Advisory Board, the Working Committee, the media, government bodies, etc. The Vice President (VP) will develop deep knowledge of each program area including the Council’s national governance education program, Get on Board; annual research project, the Annual Report Card; and advocacy initiative, Diversity 50. The VP will focus on the following key areas: program leadership and management, external relationships, and knowledge management. The VP will be the public face of the organization and a key member of the executive team that will drive the overall strategy for the Council. Key Accountabilities: Strategy & Operational Leadership Lead, develop, coach and retain high-performing team in order to deliver on business performance objectives Develop and implement strategic plan that guides the direction of the business and departments Achieve the Council’s overall strategic goals and profitability requirements as determined by the strategic plan Demonstrate strong financial acumen with P&L responsibility

Business Development & Client Relationship Management Provide excellent client relationship management at the executive level and demonstrate ability to interact with diverse groups Drive growth opportunities, anticipate and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders and ensure all aspects of partnership relationships are executed Proven track record of delivering sales results and commitment to operational and client service excellence Demonstrate leadership, negotiating and presentation skills with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of impact and influence, specifically at executive level Maintain strong awareness of competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion and industry trends in governance and diversity Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities and deadlines Communications & Public Affairs Serve as a highly visible representative for the Council, through advocacy, speaking engagements and media outreach Drive communications and marketing strategy for all programs and initiatives Serve as key point of contact with Council media partnerships Act as subject matter expert for all external communications opportunities (articles, conferences, reports, research findings, website, etc.) Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will be a business-minded individual with a solid track record of delivering results. More specifically, they will have:
10+ years of management/leadership experience (experience at the executive level would be considered an asset) Client management and sales experience Deep understanding of current corporate governance landscape/experience interacting with boards A university degree in a related field or equivalent combination of postsecondary education and work experience Experience with adult education/leadership development would be considered an asset A graduate degree would be considered an asset Research experience with diversity and board governance would be considered an asset
