The York-Eglinton International Street Festival returns this weekend for a two-day celebration of music, dance, food, carnival attractions and special guests from Sesame Street. More than 25,000 visitors are expected to attend the annual festival, taking place on Eglinton Avenue West between Marlee Avenue and Dufferin Street. “This year is an exciting one for us because at this year’s festival, families can take pictures with Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby. These walk-around characters will be available for photo opportunities both Saturday and Sunday,” said Nick Alampi, York-Eglinton BIA chair, in a statement. Alampi billed the event as one of the biggest and most popular street festivals in the GTA, which celebrates the rich diversity of the local community. Other attractions include the Kids Zone, Toronto Raptors Mobile Fan Zone, International Flavours, musical stages, dance area and a midway with rides, cotton candy and face painting. The festival runs on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
