Festival of Football aims to score for West Park Healthcare

LAURA BOOTH lbooth@insidetoronto.com The Festival of Football will fulfill any last cravings for the game that has taken over a summer season featuring the UEFA World Cup and the Olympic soccer tournaments. Running all day long, the West Park Healthcare Centre is hosting its first soccer fundraiser at Eglinton Flats Park on Saturday, Aug. 18 to raise funds for the construction of a new patient care centre. “We’re launching this event as a new community-based festival,” said Mike Fenton, executive director, campaign, of West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation. “It’s in support of our new campus development campaign that we’ve recently launched.” Registered teams of eight to 14 players, who have been raising money in an effort to reach their $5,000 to $8,000 goals, will come together Saturday to play at least five games each.
