Oakwood-Vaughan mural painting set for September HILARY CATON hcaton@insidetoronto.com Diversity, nature and community history were the themes bounced around in a consultation meeting regarding Oakwood-Vaughan’s latest mural slated for painting in September. “They’re still really conceptual (the themes), but we were all really excited,” said Claudia De Simone, chair of the Oakwood Village Community Association (OVCA). “This is a really cool opportunity.” The mural will be painted on the triangular island located at the Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road intersection, where a bus shelter currently sits along with two concrete benches and a 16-foot metal palm tree sculpture. Photo exhibit zooms in on York South-Weston Join photographer Richelle Forsey for the opening reception of her exhibition called A Trespass of Time on Thursday, July 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition on urban

exploration, which focuses on photographs taken within the York South-Weston riding, runs from July 12 to Aug. 1 in the Mount Dennis library auditorium.

Forsey will be joined by York South-Weston MPP Laura Albanese as she talks about the value of documenting certain buildings and locations in their various

states of transformation over time. Mount Dennis Library is located at 1123 Weston Rd. Call 416-394-1008 for more information.
