Metrolinx, a provincial agency in charge of building regional transit, is thanking residents for their patience while it disrupted neighbourhoods during construction of the UP Express rail. The agency is hosting fun family events Sunday at the Weston GO/UP station from 11 Sunday a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be family activities, a barbecue and free rides on the new UP Express service. “You’ll be able to take it to Pearson and back,” said Metrolinx spokesperson Mark Ostler. He said Metrolinx is excited to share the launch of the service with its neighbours. “It’s part of our way of thanking the local communities for their patience over the last couple of years as we expanded the rail infrastructure to support the launch of UP Express and also to work towards making necessary steps for the delivery of regional GO express rail.” Weston GO station is at 1865 Weston Rd., just south of Lawrence Avenue West.
