Remote Test Instructions for Students BEFORE the test: 1. You and a parent/guardian must have read, signed and submitted the Remote Test-taking Code prior to the test day.
2. Your desk/table and room must be clear of school work, notes, and clutter except for approved resources. You should not have any resources that might assist you visible in your room. These photos show what your
workspace should look like. Have the Exam.net app downloaded on your computer prior to the test day. Instructions are here: Exam.net - setting it up on your computer. If you have an android phone, ensure you have a QR code reader downloaded onto your phone.
3. You must have TWO fully charged devices (i.e. computer and phone) ready and signed into the Google Meet. You may not have any other electronic device in the room with you. You will not be permitted to write the test
unless there are two fully charged devices with working cameras/microphones present and both signed into the Google Meet. a. Primary device (computer): camera on, microphone muted, and logged into Exam.net. b. Second device (phone or iPad) device: camera on, microphone muted, and placed so the entire workspace is visible at all times - behind, elevated, and slightly off to the side. These photos show the
correct placement and camera angle of the second device (ideas for placement include a bookshelf,
windowsill, stack of books at the corner of the desk). This device MUST be able to scan QR codes. 4. You will slowly scan the workspace before starting the test when asked by the teacher (capturing all papers on your workspace, the entire room, work area, computer/laptop, area under the workstation). 5. You must ensure you have the Exam Key(s) written down
DURING the test: 6. You may use the chat function in Exam.net to communicate with the teacher. 7. If you lose internet connection and are kicked out of Exam.net, return to the Google meet to communicate with the teacher. 8. You may be asked by the teacher to scan the workspace (see above). This time will be factored into the total test time allocated.
AFTER the test: 9. If uploading work, use the second device (phone or iPad) while the primary device (computer) stays logged into the Google Meet. Scanning of work should take place in front of the laptop and be visible by the laptop camera. Remember, a third device is not permitted. For any question left blank, indicate this in writing, to ensure that all questions have been accounted for (i.e. Q3 not attempted). Double check that you have scanned each page of work and that each photo has uploaded into Exam.net. Here are instructions for scanning and uploading student work. Time will be given at the end of the test for students to do this.
10. Please STAY in the Google Meet until you get confirmation from the teacher that your Exam.net submission is complete. 11. At school students: stay in class until the period has ended. 12. At home students: please take time to go for a walk & relax.

Remote Test-Taking Code As a York School student, I understand that I have been given the privilege to write timed tests at home and agree to act honestly in the context of writing an at-home test. I further agree that I will at all times abide by the responsibilities set out below and follow all directions from the teacher and/or proctor, and understand that my failure to do so may constitute an act of academic misconduct leading to school disciplinary action, the consequences of which may include having to write the test again, mark penalties, suspension, and the loss of the privilege to write tests at home. I understand that my responsibilities in the context of an at-home test include: 1) Completing the test in a room alone and without any other person, device or resource, except such resource/device as has been explicitly allowed as part of the testing conditions by the teacher, 2) Setting up the test environment so that I am alone and not distracted by any other person, noise or visual element, 3) Having a plugged-in computer (primary computer) with a webcam or installed camera that is capable of showing my upper body including my full face, 4) Having in place, a fully charged second device capable of providing a virtual proctor/teacher with the ability to see the surface of the desk in front of me and on either side of the computer on which I am completing the exam (refer to the examples included in the Remote Test Instructions for Students), 5) Setting up Exam.net (high security mode) on my computer, and following the Remote Test Instructions for Students, 6) Following the directions given by the proctor/teacher, including scanning with the second device any part of the testing environment requested by the proctor/teacher at any time before, during or after the test, 7) At all times, keeping my eyes upon the screen and keyboard, and/or where using an approved resource or writing answers on a piece of paper, on the approved resource and/or answer sheet, 8) At all times during the test, keep my microphone off and cameras on, 9) Not to talk during the test, but to use the chat function in Exam.net to ask any questions of the proctor/teacher, 10) To use the second device to take a photo of any written work completed during the test and upload these according to Exam.net directions, and to do so in view of the primary computer camera. I further understand that: 1) The proctor/teacher will, in addition to observing me during the test, record the taking of the test, 2) The teacher may rely upon their own observations or the observations of the proctor (if a different individual) and/or the video recording as evidence of academic dishonesty or a test infraction, 3) My failure to abide by any of the responsibilities set out above may result in the termination of the test, and/or a finding of academic dishonesty or test infraction and result in disciplinary action being taken against me, 4) The proctor/teacher may, although not required to, give me a warning that I am not abiding by my responsibilities and that I will be in jeopardy of having a determination made that I have committed a test infraction or act of academic dishonesty should I fail to heed such warning, 5) If the proctor/teacher determines that I have committed a test infraction or an act of academic dishonesty, they may bring the test to a close and require that I upload any answers written down at that point, 6) If the proctor/teacher suspects that I have committed an act of academic dishonesty, they may wait until the test is complete and review video footage before making a determination that I have committed a test infraction and/or an act of academic dishonesty. 7) All final determinations with respect to test infractions or acts of academic dishonesty in the context of a test will be made by the principal.
