In their manifesto, IKEA once claimed - Making something beautiful that costs $2000 is boring. Making something beau- tiful that costs $2 is a revolution. Designing products for everyday life is not a new story for ar- chitects. It’s an opportunity to break one’s territory or step out of the comfort zone and breathe in a different domain to explore new creativity.
Minimart is a project initiated by art4d in Architect’03, the annual event of the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage at the Impact Exhibition Center. In the 63 sq. m. space designed by Nophadon Chatpattanaphong, thou- sands of dark air insulation tubes were used to form two main architectural elements: selling and display and creating visual and physical attraction.
