The debut issue of The Hand presents sketches of Korakot Aromdee, conveying the creation that combines craftsmanship and design using natural materials such as See-suk bamboo. Drawing by hand is one of the many stages in Korakot Aromdee’s creative process, but an important one. Through it, he renders the intangible original ideas onto the grid-lined paper. The sculpture-like bamboo creations continue to be developed not only through his aesthetic lens but also with consideration of sustainability, practical aspects such as the climate of the installation site, which directly affects a natural material like bamboo, and the techniques needed for the realization of the final work, which will then be carried out by the skilled craftsmen.
