Fall/Winter 2012 Thiel Campus Ministry Rocks the Quad with REILLY. September 21 marked the 2nd Annual Rockin’ the Quad event sponsored by Thiel College Campus Ministry. Held on the Freshman Quad, the event was open to the entire Thiel community. Rockin’ the Quad included dinner, live music, a sampler table from Fresh Grounds Coffee House and a testimony delivered by current sophomore Sean Byham. This year’s entertainment was provided by contemporary Christian bands The AndyNeedham Band from Boston and REILLY from Philadelphia. The mission of Rockin’ the Quad—a collaboration of four student religious organizations—is to encourage fellowship among the entire Thiel campus and to introduce Thiel students to all Campus Ministry has to offer. – provided by Kaitlyn Bonzo ’14

Thiel senior Kayla Ohlin spent a week this summer on a mission trip in rural Appalachia. She joined her home parish, St. Paul the Apostle Parish, to reconstruct a home for a family in need. Of the experience, she said, “It was such a touching week. We were able to create something sustainable for a family who, for the first time, can now call a house a home.” Kayla, who took part in campus ministry’s first global servant trip, Mexicrew, and who has been a leader in reinvigorating Roman Catholic student ministry on campus, currently is studying abroad in South Korea at EWHA Womans University. Ohlin will return in December and graduate in May with a double major in accounting and business administration. She hopes to earn her CPA license after graduation.
